Here’s my hot take on this situation involving Carowinds: 1. The park will look to refurbish Drop Zone: Scream Tower and remove some trees from the midway, so that it could be visible. 2. Nighthawk will close down and be replaced with a new huge Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster (similar to HangTime at Knott's Berry Farm). 3. Carowinds could invest in adding a few new flat rides. 4. Give Hurler the RMC Hybrid conversion that it desperately needs. There’s a lot of cool things that the company could do to the coaster to make it different that Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion. 5. As for Vortex, I could see it being removed and replaced with a new themed area that would include a stage and an antique cars ride.
Honestly same! But I ride it because it’s enjoyable and surprisingly because I can’t ride fury anymore without feeling sick after. But hurler would benefit from a gravity group retrack. This would be good because it will make it way smoother, and they can reprofile the hills to make them sharper
I got a little good ride on the silver train last time I rode it used to have a red train too or am I imagining things but the silver train must be newer
You might say this in the video, but I haven’t finished it. Remove droptower, that gives extra space for Hurler, and boom! You got a good bit of space for an amazing RMC! Yup I’m at 3:06 you’re probably gonna say that… Nevermind!
My home park is Kings Dominion, so I know what a bad arrow coaster is like, I can tell you that when I visited Carowinds I loved Carolina Cyclone. I'd say it's even better than Lochness at BGW in my opinion.
We need a RMC, and the best spot to put it is on Nighthawk and Vortex land with the Truss drop over looking the enterance then couple years go by and we get a Vokoma on Carolina Cyclone land
@@kevinthompson6986I assume the vortex computer investment was because the next coaster planned was to be wood or rmc hybrid…. And the next generation stand up was not made yet at seaworld Orlando. While I have not rode Surf coaster, I’m not sure it’s much better than a good stand up like Georgia scorcher. Although a compelling upgrade to vortex would be to use Surfcoaster trains(if compatible)
ive said it for a couple years now but i would take out nighthawk and replace it with a B&M flying coaster in the vein of Manta at seaworld. that would be an awesome spot for it right there as soon as you walk in. I know Carowinds loves their B&Ms so it would make sense for them to continue working with them.
I think they should bring back some of the old fashioned rides and some water rides in the actual park not just in the Waterpark I think also maybe some trams to get people from parking lot to front gate or other side of park it's alot of walking when your parked far plus sometimes they have just 1 entrance open the main one and the other entrances are closed that's alot of walking to get around park also the food they need to not keep food out in the open until its ordered they leave it out it gets cold and they can put a more better portion of food of the plates for everyone especially for the price that's all I can think of for now but we love going 😊😊😊😊 😊
I actually wanted their next addition to be a combination family coaster and log ride package from Zamperla, similar to what they've built at Coney Island and Adventureland. I can look pass that as they're planning a new water ride for 2026, but they could really use a new addition for the former Dinosaurs Alive plot of land.
Could the move to close the pathway under Nighthawk serve several purposes? Perhaps, closing the pathway reduces budget put into Winterfest by not putting any lights/decorations in that section just as they did with Aeronautical Landing. Alternatively, closing the pathway also forces guests to stay in the park longer, by making them walk further distances back to the gate and causes guests to walk by more retail and food/beverage locations to get people to spend more money around the park. Closing the pathway tremendously slows down a quick exit out of that park.
I don't see Nighthawk going away. The line is always huge. Improve its reliability, and it stays for a long time. Also, the path that is closed goes under the lift hill, I believe. If there is a heavy maintenance load this off-season, lift hill work could be the reason for the path closure.
My thoughts: Nighthawk and Cyclone remain for the next several years. Vortex and Carolina Goldrusher go away (yes, that is sacrilege to many, but it is well past its prime). Then a dive or wing goes in that spot. Although I like the idea of an RMC Raptor that was mentioned elsewhere. It might even fit just on Goldrusher's plot. This all sets up for a renewed/replaced Hurler in the '27/'28 timeframe.
I don't understand the assertion Carowinds did not received love from Cedar Fair. No, there was nothings for 2024, but 2025 is a major expansion,-not one but two large Snoopy attractions. Aeronautica Landing, came with 5 new flats. The park could have easily put in one new attraction and called it the day. As a matter of fact that is what most parks would have done. Copperhead cost more than what other parks spend on attractions. County Fair brought 4 flats. Add those 4 to Aeronautica's 5, and you have a total of 9 new rides, so to say Carowinds does not have flats....... In closing, Carowinds is not neglected and gets treated better than most parks in the chain. Also my gut tells me the new 2026 water coaster is going to be a major addition, with extensive theming.
Hurler...retrack the second half if they're planning to keep it. Cyclone and Vortex can get scrapped, please and thank you. I wouldn't be sad if Nighthawk and Cobra (or whatever it's called) also got the axe, but if it's running new trains with harnesses that don't beat your head up, I guess it's fine for now. Nighthawk with one train OPs was ridiculous. Not a bad concept, but if you're not in the front row, you really can't see much of anything. A dive coaster would be a good replacement for Vortex / Nighthawk I think, so let's do that. Give SC a few years to see how it does as far as maintenance / reliability goes before investing in more of them.
The office was already moved by Zimmerman years ago when he took over from Ouimmet. Zimmerman didn't want to live in Sandusky. Also, logistically it's easier to fly in and out out of Charlotte than Sandusky. Easier to recruit and retain corporate office people in Charlotte than Sandusky.

Wouldn't surprise me if Nighthawk is done. Rode it for the first time back in June and felt it was a very rough ride, coming out of the loop. Never experienced that on the other 2 Vekoma flyers.
My opinion (I respect if you disagree): 1. Junk Vortex and do a Gravity Group twister wooden coaster (think Phoenix from Knoebels). 2. GCI Titan Track Hurler
I think Carowinds would get a major new coaster in 2027 because it follows what Canada’s wonderland is doing Canada’s wonderland added snoopy’s racing railway in 2023, a water attraction in 2024 and in 2025 alpen fury Carowinds is adding snoopy’s racing railway in 2025, in 2026 a water ride, and maybe something in 2027
I know that, personally, Carowinds' line-up of indoor rides/shows/attractions is tremendously lacking and will eventually affect how often I attend the park in years to come, especially in cooler/colder months. I am 59 years old and have been going to theme parks regularly since I was a little boy in the late 60's (we visited the Myrtle Beach Pavilion theme park a lot) and went to Carowinds on my 8th birthday the Summer it opened in 1973. Plus, I've been visiting Orlando theme parks most years since 1977, so I'm no casual fan lol. But my body just can't take the typical thrill rides like it use to. This is where I would like to see Carowinds put more focus, indoor attractions. They get people out of the heat/cold, let people rest their feet, appeals to a much wider age range, and is more than just another coaster or flat ride. They even have the old Plants and Zombies building that they're not even using for any attraction. I know this is just an old man's take (lol), but it's something I'd personally like to see. We live in Gaston County and have gold passes to Carowinds, but we also go to Universal Orlando a couple of times per year. The number of quality indoor attractions makes it our favorite theme park resort anywhere. It's a great value. We will be visiting Epic Universe in November and am sure Universal being our favorite will go up a few notches. Not saying that it's feasible for Carowinds to go head-to-head with a park like Universal, just that indoor attractions greatly raises a park's quality and variety. Great video, I really enjoy your channel.
I would like to see an infinity coaster go where dinosaurs alive was located OR a Premier Ride go there but also a Vekoma Tilt would be a good fit (around drop tower and go behind cyclone) and as a new flat ride I could see a newer drop tower coming soon down the road because their drop tower is kinda old and I bet it costs alot of money to maintain it each year and I hope they don’t remove night hawk as I kinda like it (don’t love it but it’s fun to me)
Copperhead Strike is my least favorite launch coaster I have ever ridden. I really do not like the launch into a loop. CW should have put in an Intimin blitz coster.

I would love it if six flags/cedar fair actually spent the money to build a theme park to rival epic universe. They have the DC and looney toons license. They can do so much with the ip they can use
They really need to do a few things - the need to RMC Hurler as that thing is terrible and is currently in awful shape. Get rid of Nighthawk and Vortex and do do a wing coaster. That would be a nice 4-5 year plan. Hurler I think only gets traffic because you walk right be it leaving Fury - that and younger kids can ride it.
I think there best bet is to put in a wooden coaster. This will then pull people away from Hurler then RMC it. It takes care of everything. Talk about love Kings Island sure could use some but we won't be getting a major coaster till who knows when maybe 2028.

Unpopular opinion or not, Vortex, Carolina Cyclone and Hurler all need to be gone or RMC Hurler as it was mentioned. Replace the others with some type of looping wing type coaster or dive coaster. But DO NOT remove Gold Rusher!!! That mine train is timeless and needs to stay😂!!!

If Carowinds rmc’s hurler, it could possible be one of the worlds best 1-2 punches

Yes

Unpopular opinion or not, Vortex, Carolina Cyclone and Hurler all need to be gone or RMC Hurler as it was mentioned. Replace the others with some type of looping wing type coaster or dive coaster. But DO NOT remove Gold Rusher!!! That mine train is timeless and needs to stay😂!!!
