i gotta imagine we wouldnt be advocating against reprints if the game was more accessible from the beginning. i think the price history is holding the company back from breaking a barrier to entry that is definitely relevant. fab is in the same ballpark as modern mtg, but ive never heard anyone positively speak about those deck costs

On the topic of reprints: I think LSS should use the Expansion Slot to target specific cards. Any good card in that slot tends to be more expensive since theyre a bit harder to get, and so reprinting something like CnC could up the availability without completely tanking the value. A new CnC at $50-60 instead of $80+ is fine by me

To your points on polarizing matchups and FABs natural state. This TCG is built like a fighting game. As time goes on it's going to develop similar to that or like a League of Legends. The hero pool will eventually be big enough to where you having a 90/10 just comes with the territory. Then it will be about what you are okay with. I think its a natural progression that is just unavoidable.

I completely agree, the price of the cards are reasonable*
L gear is starting to get a bit cheaper currently. 50-200 dollars is fair price IMO for an L
In deck M anything from 5-50*3 is responsible.
Then we have CnC that is the only card that all players need to own for all events (other than armory) and that is 80*3=240$ That's too expensive for a card that you are going to be shuffling.
Look at the top nats deck that do run CNC there cost is low considering the þeir
With CNC there more expensive than my first car

On the reprint topic, you have to factor in for Yu-Gi-Oh that each individual format is expensive because of how Konami prints and reprints their cards, alongside player demand. YGO's reprint strat is print the cardboard once then about a year later either reprint it into the dirt if the deck is still good and then ban it, or ban it outright if the deck has been too strong. The power creep that has gotten to the point that it's every set while also locking decks into being Secret Rare piles with no rarity shift or option also lends to this price change. FaB had this issue too, before History Pack, that you'd be dropping $400 easy on 2 cards, and that's just equipment, it even got to heroes like Fai because Mask and Furnace were at one point $200 each. Not to foil out the deck, not for alternate rarities, for the buy-in. What's the ROI now, with poor Armory promos and having to be one of the best 8 players in the room at Battle Hardened events and above, you're just not making that money back unless you're grinding side events or selling PTIs. The value of these cards went down anyway post pandemic, so why go to bat for exceedingly expensive staples instead of avalible ones and let the meta decide what class staples need to be expensive instead of C&C/AoW/EStrike being forever cards that must forever command a pricetag that will keep players further away from the game, FaB is already hard enough to get into on the gameplay front, why make it harder when there are not *good* replacements for any of these cards, only niche tech cards that cover different angles. Or like AOW, just don't have replacements. Even now, the cost of all the cards have gone *down* but those reprints that were supposed to be cheaper are now just alternate color borders with how close to the cent the prices are.

The discussion on reprints is really weird. And almost gatekeepy. Almost in the way of, I had to pay so much, so should you. It's also very America centric where cards are plentiful. Being a player out in Japan (a country having 2 callings, worlds and several battle hardeneds this year alone), we struggle to find staples at a reasonable price. Players didn't enter the market until recently and now have to pay crazy prices. For us. Things like codex are over 100 usd. And also. Talking about how high prices is good because of the target market than talking about how you got your candcs in high school screams privilege, expecialy after stating is targeting adults, and not students. The game should be more accessible. Lower card prices do that.

Yeah my only real hang up with fab price wise is cnc, the equipment being expensive doesn’t really bother me, but a very meta relevant card in pretty much every meta being like $90 for 1 is kinda wild, cnc needs another reprint

The takes in the video we're just super questionable. Reprints do not hurt overall card investments, over reprinting is what does. Despite the questionable idea that hp was a bad product, it was actually a genius move to make it white boarder, because the hp versions became cheap, while the original print black boarders mostly kept their value. Too much exclusivity will also hurt everyone in the long run as well, and the appearance of accessibility is just as important as accessibility itself for getting new players into the game and injecting more value into the product.

Also I feel like. If more demand is happening (new players) we need more supply. Like. Where do they expect new players to get staples from. A limited number was printed. The take sounds like they don't want new players. I'd gladly have my c and cs (and other cards) be worth less if it meant new players were playing. The FAB community is known to be generous and friendly. And this was not that. I expect better from players who functionally act as ambassadors for the game.

Gotta love the copium of how Red in the Ledger is FINE and ALS is a MUST BAN ... it's like these 2 cards don't do the same thing (destroy your entire next turn and time-walk you). If you want to touch cards that destroy your action economy, you touch all of them ... not just 1 which is the only play out and gameplan of a mid-tier hero vs several heroes and decks.

@DydraLIVE I think it's because als basically takes away your agency. With ritl, theoretically you can block. If you have armor. You can save it for it. But ALS says do you have an answer or not. Also. One of them is part of a combo and one is not.
