I can't stop listening to this. This song characterizes the far west theme more than any other song, literally. It symbolizes Westworld more than any other song, too. I miss Westworld!
This might sound pretentious, but really, it is. The theme for the show that plays during the opening credits doesn't really come up in the show itself very often at all, but this theme often resurfaces in many different forms.
It's like the Winterfell theme in GOT. It kind of captures a major part of the show and comes up pretty often, much more than the other character themes, although the main theme does make an appearance now and then.
Ben Miller Why does he have autism? Some people listen to Rocky music when they run, Mr. Robot theme when they hack or do online research, Game of Thrones soundtrack when they play a medieval type video game. Or even hum the Jaws theme in their heads as they're about to sneak up and scare someone. It's not really autism, it's just having a little fun in life. Hardly the same as screaming "kuwai!" while holding a waifu pillow.
How is it autism? Ever hear of the Richard Feyman method? If you can't explain it like you could to a six-year-old, retrieving it from your brain without research, then you don't really know what autism is.
Some people choose to see the ugliness of this world, the disorder. I choose to see the beauty. Believe that there is an order for our days. A purpose.
This is Beauty. Hard to pin down what influences he had for this, Its like a modern day Ennio Morricone mixed with middle eastern strings. quite unique
np, I get it :), it's the halftone progressions, yes, middle eastern and/or asian music in general has lots of them, except when they use them, they do it in such places that the melody still sounds harmonic, pleasant, bright, it's europeans that tend to use them to create (slight) disharmonies/unpleasantness/the feeling of mystery/tension, by putting them in the middle of our standard european progressions, and hollywood's been doing that a lot recently ;)
Great informative reply. When i think about it , i have indeed heard a lot of these types of disharmonies in movies recently. Nice to see someone bringing some knowledge to a response for once, instead of being rude :) Thanks!
@@GamboTheGent The section from 1:18 is best representative of what you are feeling. In Western Classical this is just the top area of a standard minor scale, but these intervals are common to traditional styles that have an exotic resonance to them. Probably the most famous if not cliché example is Egyptian.
I'm gonna say this, Westworld is in a different league of its own. I've seen Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones, The Walking Dead but none comes close to the story and intensity of Westworld.
My ranking goes like this 1. Good GOT, nothing will ever come close 2.Westworld S1 3. Breaking Bad 4. Westworld S2 5.Walking Dead 6. Westworld S3 7. Shit GOT, nothing will ever be worse
Every name is a symbol in this series. It's absolutely wonderful. For exemple the town is named "Sweetwater", which reminds me the expression "the sweet waters of the Lethe". Lethe which was the river of peacefull forgetfullness of dead people in greek mythology --> "The souls that throng the flood Are those to whom, by fate, are other bodies ow'd : In Lethe's lake they long oblivion taste, Of future life secure, forgetful of the past." This song reminds totally the idea of the lethe, the forgetfullness of past lives, and the peacefull mind of Dolores before she wakes up her consciousness
The music in this series is so spot on. This song is definitely my favourite. Somehow it captures the wild west and the mechanical nature of the show, yet it has that undertone of sadness and melancholy and repetitiveness that being a host is all about. Ramin Djawadi's work fits with this show in the same way Ennio Morricone complemented and seamlessly worked with The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
One of the top themes in my book, captures such good vibes of the mood that guests are trying to get into , the excitement of the gunfights, the charm of the wild west locale, and the hope for adventure.
When I was a substitute teacher at a middle school, I was subbing for the band class and in one of the classes, this 7th grade girl sat down at the piano and no joking, starting playing this theme note for note and I shouted "OMG WESTWORLD!!!" She jumped and apologized but I told her it was not only ok, but pretty darn (couldn't say damn) amazing especially for a middle school kid. One of the best days subbing.
I know why you're here. You miss the old Westworld and want to reminisce how great Season 1 was; and wishing you can watch it for the first time again.
2 isn’t terrible, but not quite like season 1. It’s issue was trying to be overly convoluted to keep the audience guessing but just trying to copy the time arrangement again in season 1 but worse. It also has some of the best episodes of the series, and an interesting ending that is open ended but gives an ending to the humans, hosts and leaves the door open for human-hosts in the post-credit scene. Season 2 is the ending for me.
The thing is, this song encapsulates Westworld. The actual main theme fits so well with combining the elements of both Westworld and the real world. You can really feel how Djawadi wove two feelings together to create the main theme. It's perfect.
Absolutely not. This music is Westworld the theme park, its sweetwater, its western, its twangy. It can't be the theme song for the show, you know why? Because Westwotld isn't really a western. Its big-ideas sc-fi masquerading a western.
This was also played S2Ep1 when William, The Man in Black, when mends his left arm after having it broken by Delores and shot by Clementine in the Season 1 Finale...Awesome!
"Don't mind me. I'm just trying to look chivalrous."When hearing this think of the magnificent view and Teddy just waking up. Ramin Djawadi is so talented, this short theme invokes so many feelings.Love that the sound of an old piano is blended into the theme and as others have said that sound which reminds you of the train steaming forth to a new bright day.Only just seen the first season.
Yep I certainly didn't expect to be back here after the Season 4 Finale. I'm now just sad we wont know whats in store again for another 2 years or so if we get a Season 5
The thing I love about this and the other piano tracks is that the piano is just slightly off-key, enough to make it sound like things aren't quite right. It's really the perfect mood for this show.
I want this playing at my funeral... At the lowest possible volume... Over and over again. As a musical constant, which symbolizes the one universal truth of everything: Repetition.
Emily its most likely both, it is a blatant Frankenstein reference but a robot instead of different human parts. In Westworld Dr Ford actually quotes from the Frankenstein book in a subtle way.
