Hi i want to solder cables of my se215. Which type of solder do i need to use (%60 SN / %40 Pb) OR (%99,3 Sn / %0,7 Cu) AND which thickness 0.5mm or 0.75mm
Thank you so much mate, you've given me confidence to do this myself! Excellent video :D BTW, have you noticed any perceivable differences between the fake and genuine shells then using the repaired IEMs - like fit or vibration etc?
Thanks for the video! In my case, the plastic of the older shell is glued to the receptor, which I wanted to re-use. What should I do, at this point? I've tried to break the plastic until it gets thin enough to fit in the new shell, but that hasn't worked yet. Best
Do you set the temp of the iron to a particular setting? I find that when I try and solder the wires, after I burn off the protective coating, the wires go black very quickly and I can not tin the wires at all. Yes maybe I should use flux but the solder I have contains flux...idk
I bought iem casing similar to this model but the inside shape can insert 2 dynamic driver. How can i connect the 2nd driver with the first driver then connect to mmcx?
hey man, great videos! as i am seeing you opening the shell, i wondered if you think if its possible to fix the mmcx connector on the inside of the earphone and where to get the parts.. do you have thoughts on that? best!
Do you know if the SE535 driver fits properly in the SE846 housing? Also, do you know of any US sellers for replacement housings? I am very impatient when it comes to ordering from overseas.
@@sgaudiohive thanks for the reply! Excellent work with your channel. I hope it becomes more popular! Have you ever converted wired headphones into wireless/Bluetooth?
These conversions are usually achieved via dongles, because a hardware mod will also require printing of custom boards and building custom buttons etc + batteries
I have a pair of shure 846 and the shell has come lose and the black and red wires have detatched. Do i solder the red wire to the middle of the female mmxc connector and the black to one of the sides? Do i need special soldering wire like silver? Thanks for your help
@@sgaudiohive Awesome, thank you so much for the quick response. Btw do you know what type/thickness of bare wire Shure uses to connect the drivers to the connectors? Is there anyway to know which wire should go to the middle of the female mmcx connector? TIA
Thanks for the video and especially listing the parts. In my case the MMCX connector center pin had broken.
thanks! no broken wire and my in ear work perfectly now!
Hey thanks for the video. I am repairing mine and I lost the wire - what kind of wire do I need to replace it? It has the redish colour
what type of wire and gauge are you using? The ribbon on my 535 broke when taking it apart
What glue did you use?

Are there any replacement shells for the Shure E5 in ear monitors? Mine were stepped on but they are still operational but missing the output steams

Best
Heat the receptor(connector) and remove the plastic fully
Does it have the same housing with the higher end model?

You need to work out the crossover and hook them up via link wires
Where can I find replacement shells? The ones sold most commonly are not correct for se215.
Any tutorial for just replacing the nozzle itself?
Awesome! Thank you for the explanation. I will order a new fake shell for my SE215 as well.
Hey man, is the spe and normal version have different driver? Or is it just the cotton damper?
Same
@@sgaudiohive so it was just a different cotton damper?
There's no damper on the 215
@@sgaudiohive oh i see, do you know why the spe is bassier bassed on some review?
Where can I buy the replacement shell an connectors?

anyone know where i can buy a reshell for W60?

No they don't fit at all, also I don't think there are US sellers if you can't find them online

Yes red is to the middle. Do not use silver solder for 846. Use regular leaded ones as that what the factory uses
@@sgaudiohive thank you for the reply
Great tutorial. What kind of solder should I use for my broken SE530? Thanks!
Any flux core solder will do

Once you open up the 530 it will be quite obvious as the wires are color labled, if I'm not wrong the wire thickness is 28awg, it's quite thick
CAn I retrofit a westone um pro 30 in this shell?
No you can't, you can get the um30 shells
You can try replacing them with a pair of( compatible size twig )bamboo sticks ...
Very helpful! Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial!!!
What kind of glue do you use?
Super glue or C.A 502 glue(they are the same things)
sgaudiohive thanks. Just wanted to make sure
hey, my se425 housing is broken, can i use se215 housing to replace it?
You can not use 215 housing, there are different shapes and internals are different, you can use 535
Cam you please do a moondrop aria/crescent/spaceship Mmcx mod video?
