- Once again I was in Warwick, NY with the family and I brought my camera in case we ran into the M&NJ like last week. We checked the yard and found nothing so we went to Ochs Farm and as we were making our way to the peach trees we heard the train coming into town. We quickly filled our box with fruit and made our way to the center of town in hopes the train had not passed through as we were heading over. Well after waiting about 15 minutes we heard the train blowing for the Elm Street crossing with B23-7 5114 leading LHF, with a caboose trailing right behind it! We used a few different shots this time, my personal favorites being in the center of Warwick, and the Carpentersville Road crossing. I'm not usually one to upload videos of the same railroad back to back, but this is a really unique freight operation. Hope you guys enjoy!
Nice! I thought they scrapped this! I saw this in Quakertown in SP paint... I actually have a video of it somewhere. Nice job and that's a sweet Leslie.
Great video and catch! Some nice older Conrail crossing signals along that line, though the bell at 1:59 sounds rather flat.
It looks like 5114 was moved to the opposite end of the train at one point. That would explain it facing long hood forward with the caboose directly behind it. Anyway awesome catch!
Awesome video! I always enjoy watching shortline moves! Great job!
Thanks man! They run the locomotive around the train about a 1/4 mile from where I was and head back to their yard.
Great video! I see this train almost every day in the village of Warwick ( you were right next to where I work! Across the stream.)
Awesome video! And I see you filmed them again, and also you found the entrance to the Greycourt industrial...lol!
The caboose is used for back up moves on the Greycourt Industrial.
Tim
Thank you! I'm not 100% sure but I want to say it was used as a spacer car, they might've brought hazerdous cars to Jones Chemical and needed an empty car between the locomotive and the tankers.
Thanks man! Yeah lol I was in Warwick (kind of hoping to hear the horn) and we heard them come in, so we chased them up lol.
Great video, Steve! Such a nice operation up there!
Thanks!
Thanks dude! I agree with you, there's just something cool about a shortline haha.
Thanks dude!
That's because on that particular day they probably did not have any cars to deliver to Greycourt, so there would be just the engine going down the spur with no cars to shove. It is a southbound switch. That is why the reefers cars go to Warwick and back with the train when going to Jones Chemical. If they do not go to Warwick after Greycourt, the caboose is used to shove north to Campbell Hall.
Never been lucky enough to catch a MNJ train at Warwick. Have seen NYS&W there several times though.
Awesome video! Why were they using a NJTR caboose?
Great video,please make more.
Awesome!
Thanks man! I'm glad they didn't, this locomotive is boss! If you find the video post it as a response or send me a pm of it, I'd love to see that!
at 3.50 the old demburge farm ,and south the ford farm.a streem from waterloumills comes out of the mountans south and west and runs north.minnisink hose co.is right of the film.it was in unionville at one time.
Nice vid! Whats up with the NJT caboose being up there?
Thanks man! I don't plan on stopping anytime soon =)
Thanks Kyle! I feel the same way, it's like the M&E of New York haha.
Thanks dude! You lucky son of a gun, that's awesome!
Thanks! Check out the response to DAL3294, that's my best guess.
Really? I wonder why they didn't have one the last time I saw them, go figure lol.
