At least the N55 will always be underrated & under-appreciated! 🙏🏼
n54 has forged internals and the n55 doesn't, no one who is going for power on a n54 stays on stock turbos, also many people go port injection to make over 600hp so high pressure fuel pump isn't and issue and everything else is just maintenance on and old car with a lot of sensors and plastic.
spun rod bearings are a oil starvation issue. with a s55 oil pump and oil pan u will have an 18% increased oil flow eliminating the problem 👍 10% ish of cases have a OFHG leak and it leaks onto the belts making then slip and sucking into the engine and spins the rod bearings. hope this helps.

@@StolenE92 ive seen that the e82 and e92 models cant get the s55 oil pan to fit, in that case a baffled oil sump would be your next best bet.

My experience with the M135i- the stronger N55 variant (ie with forged crank) with a straight pipe , I can agree the N55 sounds incredible , like a super car at certain rpms.
But no arguments the N54 is a better engine suited for tuning in every way over the N55 don’t disrespect the N54
No issues with pwg N55 just as capable as N54. The N55 has significantly less tuning opportunities but still makes a way. Mine hasn’t had a problem I found a way even though MHD is no help and it’s less aftermarket help.

Your tune must be spot on because hybrid brings in full torque super low down ( not good for rods ☹️)
Exactly why I went with a 67mm ball bearing bottom mount turbo my friend very easy on the bottom end to eventually go up to full boost top end.

@@StolenE92 Well I still don't agree with you, they use mostly the same components and if there's 2 cars same mileage and same maintenance with same usage it would be same outcome. If you compare a high mileage abused mistreated tuned tracked car to a low mileage dealer maintained garage queen it's not fair.

Same charge pipe problem… same valve cover leaking… same 02 sensor issues lol. Sameeee lpfp issue . Same overheating issues with the intercooler. Same radiator leak issue, hose etc same shit. N54 has open deck and n55 has close deck. N55 better with twin scroll tbs

The only things you said that is true is sound and the fact that any n55 in a e9x chassis is lci, no shit it’s a newer motor which also means the by the time n55 reaches n54s age it’s gonna have the same problems and good luck runnin your “big turbo” on n55 block you aren’t doing yourself a favor with choosing the weaker motor
I’m not concerned about “weaker motor” I’m going to build my motor and show people you can and to not just go get a n54 like everyone else my friend
