Being a very big Pixel fan for many years, I really like the way Google is developing this Pixel line. Also my customers are very pleased with the Pixel phones (they buy them because I advise them to do so). Also I am very happy that the Pixel phones are available in the Netherlands, I don't have to drive to Germany each time. Shannon, keep up the good work and I love your voice and the speed you have in your videos. 😀
I have an 8 pro and there are some hiccups but I can get around them. The software is very good and has many exclusive features that come with it. I'm waiting to see what the pixel fold 2 is like.

No, I don't have issues here in the US, but I'm also using a different carrier, in a different location. Lots of variants here can effect your signal strength.

Good video! I'm reading on Reddit that travellers in Japan have problems using a physical SIM card with their new unlocked Pixel 8 / Pixel 8 Pro. What did you use to get mobile data while traveling? Did you use eSIM instead of physical SIM?
I used a physical sim in my pixel 8 pro for the two weeks I was in Japan (several cities). And no, I didn't have any problems. It was a US sim for a US carrier and I set it up on an international plan for the duration of my trip.
What was the storage capacity of the phone you tested? And how did the storage capacity fare with general usage, while you were on vacation taking pictures?
Best of luck trying to use Suica with it in Japan. At least foreign iPhones have it enabled. Being a regular traveller to Japan that is the only thing that puts me off.
The display is not the same size as the P7P. It is the same diagonal dimension but has a slightly longer aspect raio of 20:9 which makes it slightly narrower with less surface area.
the fact I can't unlock my phone in the middle of the night when my baby wakes up is a big no-go. I was ready to order it but then I saw all the reviews mentioning the laggy fingerprint and issues with face unlock. My iphone 14 pro unlocks instantly even in complete darkness.

Do cases made for the 7 Pro fit the 8 Pro? I was more than a bit annoyed that I had to get a new case when I upgraded from a 6 Pro to a 7 Pro because the side buttons had been moved down slightly.
No they don't. it'll fit loosely, as the 7 Pro cases take the curved display into account, which the 8 Pro doesn't have. Also 7 Pro cases block the rear temperature sensor and flash.
I got 8 pro today i noticed display colour is very warm like yellow is there any way to change it to cool colour tone I tried everything couldn't find anyway its very frustrating
They have got to get rid of the 128 gigs. Everyone else has. Its the only reason why i will never get it and try it. My plan only had the 128 one, sadly.
the pixel stand IME is unstable and rarely maintains above 15watts..for the price..it's not worth it. the tensor is sitll an exynos based design...so it's going to have inferior battery life in several areas.

Any mobile device over 250 dollars is overkill and you pay brand tax. This is unfortunate to have phones costing 1000 dollars it is crazy and insulting.
I never buy phones full price!! I always do trade ins or carrier deals to get em for a LOT less. If you watch my Samsung reviews, I always mention that I do trade ins. I agree - $1000 phones is way too expensive
@ShannonMorse A clarification, my comment was not towards your practice or review, it was targeted in general, to the manufacturers and their pricing policies along with all the environmental consequences. Here in Greece, we do not have trade in options, and we pay extra 10%- 15% additional to American msrp. I love your video since hak5 and techzilla.
Most sub 300$ phones are horrendous. Super stuttery, horrible display, poor touch response and vibration feedback and sub par camera with v bad shutter speed. Cpu is also slow af. You sound like me from 2014 when I had some pisspoor LG and sony Xperia sets.
I live in Europe, in France particularly and we have the same taxes and even more. I don't see any problems with those price because nobody is forced to buy a 1000$ smartphone. There are smartphones at different prices and everybody can choose a smartphone for his/her needs and budget
The expensive tier of the market is what enables the less expensive markets to exist by first putting the burden of development costs on those willing to pay the premium for the latest tech. If anything you should be happy these phones exist. Your cheaper phones will be better sooner because of it.

I'm disappointed that they removed the photosphere mode from the camera. That was so much fun to capture a 360 view of a place.

Getting 600 off from spectrum and 177 trade in on my pixel 6 makes this phone perfect in my eyes :) i only wish they had bay blue in stock.

Suica doesn't work with our US Android phones, but I had zero problems carrying my suica on a lanyard and using it wherever I went.
