  • It’s amazing what difference a couple of days can make as Shrewsbury emerges from the floods.
On my runs around the town I thought I’d document the changes between the peak of the February 2022 floods and the receding waters.
While the water does go down very quickly it takes those affected much longer to get their properties back in order.

Amazing to see how fast things have improved in those 4 days. I love visiting Shrewsbury and will hopefully get back there soon. By the way, was there any flood damage out by Ironbridge and Telford?

I know they had the flood defences out along the Wharfage and evacuated at risk properties. I've not heard anything to the contrary so I assume everything worked to plan and they are now getting back to 'normal'.

We build in the floodplain at our peril ! It looks like we can expect these kinds of events more regularly and at greater magnitude in the future. Despite that I could show you several sites around Shrewsbury where development is immediately adjacent to watercourses or waterbodies. Crazy!
