    I bought one of these with Aqua switches to replace a Realforce 87U that I'd used for many years, it's extremely good for the price. I bought the pudding PBT keycaps with it because I am used to PBT keycaps and prefer them over ABS. I am still a huge fan of Topre switches, I prefer them over any other switch I've ever tried, but for a cheap keyboard this one is hard to beat. Also, media keys work on this without the need for the software. Before buying this I bought the MX Keys and couldn't get it to control my media via iTunes (Apple Music).

    Enthusiast keyboards have gotten out of control. As a lifelong engineer, I’m done building custom PC stuff and just want to walk into a store and pick a keyboard from the shelf.
    I walked into thinking I’d want a GMMK, and of all the ones I looked at, I really like the Das Keyboard 4 Professional, and the real sleeper was the HyperX Alloy Origins. That aqua switch, even two years later, is really nice.

    I am on the fence when it comes to buying this. I have heard it's a great starter mechanical keyboard, and I am a big fan of the small form factor of Tenkeyless boards. However, this wouldn't be my first mechanical keyboard. I already bought a Corsair K70 a few years ago. It's old and the Cherry MX Blues are a bit too loud. Do you still recommend this keyboard? Is there maybe another keyboard out there possibly in a 70 or 60% form factor that has as much RGB control as this? I would appreciate a point in the right direction. Thank you!

    • @rw3168
      @rw3168 3 года назад

      If you want good RGB in a 60% form factor you got the Ducky One 2 SF, much higher quality than any gaming brand will ofer you. If you really want a mainstream gaming brand, then you can also get a Razer Huntsman mini or a Razer Huntsman TE (but search for a sound demo before buying them cause not many like how they sound). Then there is the Logitech Pro X TKL.
      I've been using a HyperX Alloy Origins Core with linear red switches for a year now, and have many other keyboards too. I stick with this one for just gaming, it's rock solid, switches are fast, looks clean, and feels much better than the plasticky razer and corsair keyboards. I noticed though that it has slightly bent after a year of intense use, cause it's mostly all metal.
      But really, if you want a GOOD mechanical keyboard, don't even think about gaming brands. Look for a varmilo moonlight, a miya pro, a ducky one, cause most mainstream gaming brands kinda suck.
