      Not a chance that cage with the orangutang was hundreds of kilos. I'd put that at 100 kilos tops. Based on the way the cages moved by the humans and flipped near the boats, and the size of the orangutangs.

    This is just further proof of their incredible human like intelligence. To Jerry, the cage is little more than a weapon used against the orangutans. A mindless creature would just run away upon being released, but Jerry wanted to destroy the cage, so it couldn't be wielded against him again.

    Oh god, I remember this episode. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. This really drives home how dangerous and powerful orangutans can be, which I tend to forget when watching cute and playful youngsters.

    Always thought these were gentle creatures, laid back and non violent. Perhaps, even with the best of intentions, we sometimes meddle too much with wild life.

    I watched an amazing documentary on orangutans a long time ago ..
    It featured this one particular Orangutan that liked riding around in a tow truck oddly enough ..
    Taught me everything I needed to know about these amazing creatures ..

      "Clyde" was beaten & otherwise mal-treated in order to film those movies. Clint may think it's humorous to speak to an empty "obamachair", but tolerating animal abuse is unconscionable.

    Pretty amazing the strength these relatively small orangutans have to roll a big solid steel cage around like a that, wow. Imagine what a large alpha can do.

      He's an animal that was in a cage. A wild animal. I'm sure he was hurt and rescued by this group to save it. Wasnt like they could just put a leash on him and let him help paddle the boat. If it wasnt for groups like this, this species would probably be extinct.

    I saw a documentary, whereby they slowly introduced the orangutans to the island, by going back and forth a few times. This was to introduce them to the new environment before releasing them permanently. So they aren't just dumped there.

    Because unlike the babysitters back when they were babies, these male handlers who got in charge of them at a certain age arent usually bonded with them emotionally (and they're not supposed to... You would want these orangutans to be wild, not dependent on human) . In these adult orangutans' mind probably these are the people who kept them captive and finally they are freee

    Jerry pushed that cave cause he didn't want anything to do with that thing anymore lol. Can you blame him? I've wondered if he was roughing up Valents cage for the mere fact it was a cage and poor Valent just happened to be in there. And yes, they are going to be just fine. Years of work through the caretakers, medical workers & all staff dedicated so much to work towards that very moment. Their release is such a beautiful thing.

    I went to Monkey Mountain in Hong Kong. Monkeys can change mood fast. Someone was feeding them and they all came over and were friendly, until the snacks ran out! Then they became an angry aggressive, clawing mob that chased us all out of there. Primates can be very volatile, very quickly it seems.

    Jerry must have had an especially traumatic history with cages alone.
    Keep in mind all of these orangutan babies have trauma in their first years out of 60.😔
