    Now there are permanent streaks across the glass for 3 years. Those streaks get worse the longer time passes too. Every glass coating product I've used does this. They also tend to fog up the windshield a lot easier from outside moisture when you have your AC on. Honestly I hate these products and it took me a long time to finally realize that you can get pretty much the same results from wiping any kind of regular car wax on the window then wiping off. It works great without the streaks or fogging up either. Glass coating for the car body is a different story though. Some of the 5+ year ones from Japanese companies are really good.

      I agree on the streaks, even tho, i did not try this product in particular, but from what i've tested - all of them, silicone/fluorine based glass coatings, makes those streaks and they are visible, especially when driving in night time and if its raining and you hit your wipers right when the car is passing you, the light shows those streaks very well, after a little while, the streaks become more noticeable even on normal conditions.. I guess thats the price we got to pay

      They do. First time I have noticed it was on a 90's Honda DelSol. I then noticed it on other 90's Honda.
      The catch is you only see it on ORIGINAL Honda factory fitted glass (if replaced it will no longer bead or be tiny beads).
      Also it must be only be a fully imported Honda (meant for Japanese Market) a real JDM.
      Other Honda made in other countries may have locally supplied components that are not hydrophobic.
      Not sure if newer Honda's made in Japan are like this still as I doubt people even noticed this at all.
      In fact almost all Glass repairers see glass as glass and surprised when I tell then NO they are not and water behaves differently on original HONDA glass.

      People would still come up with something to improvise it. Take for example the car paint. These days all good cars comes with a very good quality paint. Hey Guys!
    This isn't the only way to get water beading characteristics on your glass. We have a few different glass coatings including rain x that we have been using on a daily basis for the past 16+yrs. This just happens to be our favorite for the past two years on especially windshields. The majority of our customers do not have the time to apply Rain X every 1-2 months and rely on us the detailers to provide what we prefer and then maintain for them throughout the years. If we see the car on a monthly or bi monthly basis we typically will use our Stoner Clean & Repel. Our way and products are not the only way. Please feel free to share what you like to use on the windshields and hopefully in the end we can learn from each other.
    Thank you so much for your support & for watching the vid!

    I've quit doing windshield with these kind of products, it usually a bit hazey the first month or two after applying it when the wipers go over it, and when it starts to deteriorate after a half a year or so it's often worse than when nothing was ever put on it.. Great for the side windows though

      what works even better is to clean the windshield very thoroughly and then apply a decent quality car wax to the glass, buff it off and then use the Rain-X wiper fluid. quality wiper blades also make a big difference on whether you get streaking or not.

    Important question: How long does it last. RainX, for example, is stripped from the glass after about 10 minutes of wiper use. If the wipers are not used it lasts weeks or more, with a spot sweep from the wipers after raining starts to remove build up (dust and gunk) from the surface.
    How do these 'ceramic' (LOL!) coatings stand up to the wipers?

    • @beebop9808
      @beebop9808 2 года назад

      Rain X washer fluid is definitely a plus. It doesn't replace the Rain X base product but sometimes you just get gunk on the windshield and the fluid does a good job of getting it off. And no other fluid that I'm aware of provides any kind of sheeting action for water. Rain X does.
      If you've been slack about maintaining your regular application, 3 to 4 months and find yourself in a rain storm, the fluid will get you out of a pinch.
