According to Mike Portnoy, this was their Magnum Opus and was the culmination of everything Dream Theater had been working towards. The experience of hearing the entire album is like reading a murder mystery. Probably one of the best concept albums ever recorded.
One of my favorite songs from the greatest concept album of all time!! At some point, you really need to sit down and listen to the entire "Scenes From A Memory" album from beginning to end...perhaps "Scenes From New York", the live performance of the album, which includes a video presentation to help you understand the story. LIFE CHANGING!!
Finally Free is the epitome of the ultimate catharsis. It's the grand finale of grand finales. Well several of DT's songs are like that such as the grand finale of the AA saga which is The Shattered Fortress. Just beyond epic!!🤯🤯
You can literally listen to album after album of DT and not only never get bored, but find limitless nuance, surprises, and unexpected twists. There is so much good music out there, but it's hard to argue this isn't the best of it. I listen to virtually every style and this is the only band I never tire of listening to. You could (and should) do nothing but DT reactions for a while and not only not grow tired of them but likely only desire listening to more. They're intoxicating
@@DrawTaken Not really. DT's sound is somewhat defined by LeBrie's voice, but Serj n SOAD... he's a HUGE part of their sound. Also SOAD is nowhere nearly as instrumental. Look bro, this is a matter of taste, n let's say I got a bad one. If you enjoy DT exactly as it is, good for you. I envy you, cuz they're amazing. 🤟
Now y'all haaavvveee to do the rest of the album. It all flows so smoothly. I've seen channels do the whole album either in one sitting or the spread it out over a few days, y'all should TOTALLY do something like that. Going through the whole album from start to finish is unlike anything else. I definitely think Lex would enjoy the journey 🤘🤘
In the context of the album, "Home" is where things go off the rails. Nicholas thinks he has solved Victoria's murder, he thinks Julian did it and it's an open and shut case. Home is where we discover that things are not as simple as they initially appeared. It's sort of the darker turn for the rest of the album. As Lex noticed, this is also filled with lyrical and musical references to the original "Metropolis." It's the first time in the album explicitly connected to the original song and is the foreshadowing for the cyclical nature of the narrative.
There are references to Metropolis Pt. 1 in Overture 1928, Strange Deja Vu, Fatal Tragedy and Beyond This Live, but they're very minor and much less obvious compared to Home (and everything after).
What a wonderful assault on the senses. And they say Genesis had a 'wall of sound'. Crazy amazing (with the same humor of throwing in some funky off the wall stuff). The unison passages with the drums is beyond comprehension. Great, mind blowing musicians with feeling! [had to come back to catch this after your most recent DT reaction] Thanks.
Yeah.! Great song. and I know Lex just loved it. You guys are going to spoil us by playing these marathons. I love it.! I was there till the end. It probably did sound like Creed.. and Metallica, Rush, Yes, Zappa, Kansas, King Crimson, Muse, Floyd, etc..... That's what Dream Theater is, a collection of All Progressive sounds to create the ultimate sound, and that is Dream Theater. Great Job ... Don't forget to wear a black T-shirt when playing Dream Theater...lol. We got a Trifecta! of Dream Theater. The only Band, that other bands, have to compare to. Glass Prison, if you want to snap ur neck. Nick, you might be used to listening to the Live version of Home and that's why it sounded remixed or muffled. They just turned the pots down on the Keys. And Lex, that was Not a Grand Piano, it was Jordans Kord Keyboard. I was amazed too how much it sounded like a real Grand. You guys have fun.
It's funny how different we all are... James LaBrie's voice is one of the main reasons I fell in love with Dream Theater, but I get that everyone's taste is different. I'm glad James is growing on Lex!
I wouldn't listen to Dream Theater for years because of LaBrie. Now Dream Theater is one of my favourite bands and I couldn't picture them without him. His vocal performances on Images And Words and Awake are absolutely fantastic. I think the biggest reason why people don't like LaBrie isn't anything to do with his talents as a vocalist. It's how he sounds. He has a very high registry for a male vocalist and people are turned off by hearing a dude sound like that lol.
Creed's one of those bands where people hate them because it's popular to hate them. Folks love their bandwagons. Creed is a great band. Great songwriting and lyrics. Listen to all of Human Clay and read the lyrics. Some fantastic work.
Best reaction to this song and not saying this because I requested this. In the same good tradition of linking topics from one reaction to another: ofc there are many controversies regarding some riffs they used in certain songs but even if it's true or not what they touched they turned in gold. Not sure if you already reacted to anything from long awaited latest John Petrucci solo album. In a fascinating and most well achieved melodic track from that album-Temple of Circadia-there is a riff section that is reminiscent of Sails of Charon by Scorpions, the track that you guy reacted to and for which I made the link with Home. I can't help myself 😀
Have to add one more comment... if you guys ever do a reaction to the entire Metropolis 2: Scenes From a Memory album, pay attention to the story being told. It’s a good concept story but the thing that’s always intrigued me is that a lot of Dream Theater songs from different albums all the way up through the Black Clouds and Silver Linings era seem to lyrically play into the Scenes From a Memory story. I found a fan website years ago that got really deep into the theory that there’s a Dream Theater Universe that connects all their songs and albums. Some of what was being discussed really seemed to make a lot of sense but that could be because the lyrics are so well written that anyone could read several interpretations into them. If it is true that the well of inspiration they drew from is this universe where the songs and characters are connected that just convinces me that not only are theses guys one of the most talented bands ever, they border on genius. It could all be fans reading too much into it but I is an interesting thought to say the least.
Lex I LOVE Creed!! Please react to Bullets, Ode, Who's Got My Back? and Sister. These songs by Creed are amazing!! They have some really crunchy riffs and awesome song arrangements.
Still anxiously waiting for Rush's "The Camera Eye"! Love all of your reactions but I'm dying here...don't make me wait any longer! I know you're going to love it. Everything on Moving Pictures is awesome!
@@NicknLex That would be AWESOME! That song opens up the second side of Moving Pictures and just grabs on to you throughout the entire B side. If you liked La Villa Strangiato and Natural Science, you'll love this one as well. It's kind of the reflections of Neil's experiences from living in New York and London back in the early 70's.
Loved this, never heard of them before. You've compared Yes to them, and you were spot on. I had to google their influences, and here's what I found: "Rudess says his influences as a keyboardist are Keith Emerson, Tony Banks, Rick Wakeman and Patrick Moraz. His favorite musical artists and groups include Gentle Giant, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Jimi Hendrix, Autechre, and Aphex Twin." Rick Wakeman and Patrick Moraz were both keyboard players with Yes. In the 70s when Yes & ELP put out albums at the same time there was always the argument between Yes & ELP fans of who was the better keyboard player...Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. Dream Theater was a great find....Thank you! Keep making videos!
It's great that you both share such joy in music. I wish I could hear some of these songs again for the 1st time! Gives me chills, too. I listen to a lot of the same bands. And, you introduce me to some new stuff so thanks for that. Stay cute both of you...it's the best.
If you react to The Glass Prison please do a live reaction to the entire AA saga. It's about Mike Portnoy's struggle with alcoholism which include 5 epics that span over 5 albums. This is some if the most technical, emotional, powerful music ever made. It will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride: Part 1 is The Glass Prison from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Part 2 is This Dying Soul from Train of Thought Part 3 is The Root of All Evil from Octavarium Part 4 is Repentance from Systematic Chaos Part 5 is The Shattered Fortress from Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Scenes from a memory is my favorite Dream Theater album, and Home is my favorite song from it. I don't quite think it's my favorite DT song, but it stands tall in their entire catalogue to me. I know I'm repeating myself at this point, but this song is absolutely masterful. The Spirit Carries On is probably my second favorite from this album for theming reasons.
I got to see them do the full album concert in 2019 was such a great show! Knowing about the content in the concept album , I got emotional in a couple of songs including One last Time. Such an amazing and talented band.
Ok, second to the last note.... There are No Rules here. You make them up as you go. RUclips has no Format and the other reactors on here do just about anything they want, so I say go fur it!. If you want to play a whole album side feel free. I see others doing it, so you're more than welcome. On a semi-final note, Everybody loves you guys and you can almost do no wrong, so just being honest is exactly what we want. And Nick, with your knowledge of a lot of music on top of being a musician you cover pretty much all the areas. Keep up the great work you two.
Thank you SO much for your support! We try to be cautious because we literally just got another copyright strike (after 3 the account is deleted). We have 2 right now, but one under dispute, so hoping that gets resolved soon! We appreciate your kind words and constant support; it’s so heartwarming!! Sending peace, Lex. :)
@@NicknLex The only thing that would strike against you would be you not adding a disclaimer to the copyrights.? I see all kinds of reacters up for years and they play videos. So I don't understand why you get harassed.
Got to see the 20th anniversary of this album tour 2 times before COVID (Austin, then San Antonio a few months later) - This song is especially awesome live...
Such a great song. Love the sitar intro, which is really played by Jordan Rudess on the keyboard. Love the whole album but this song is definitely one of many highlights on the album. It really is an album that has to be enjoyed in its entirety. Loved this reaction video. Nice job as always.
I got to see the 20th anniversary show of Scenes From A Memory, and I literally cried. Seeing this album performed in its entirety (and also another whole set of their "greatest hits," plus an encore, meaning the show was almost 3 hours!) was a life changing experience. You should watch the Scenes From New York show from 2000 :)
I can't wait to see you guys get into some Yes. I've already given you my list of must-listen songs so I won't go too far here. Just a reminder, I think y'all should start with "And You And I" or "Starship Trooper."
Shame on you, Nick -- Alexia says she loves concept albums, and that you were "guiding" her on her journey into Dream Theater. So you go and introduce her to just a fragment from the middle of Metropolis Part II, their pièce de résistance? You guys need to listen to it from start to finish, it's the only way! And just like Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned from Tool, this is one album that needs to be listened to with the lyrics handy so you don't miss the juicy story being told. BTW - Us DT fans don't get mad when someone compares DT to Creed or other bands... we just shake our heads and think, "Wait till they listen to The Glass Prison, A Change of Seasons, Octavarium or The Count of Tuscany", and then we'll talk."
fully agree you cant just listen to an act or 2 you gotta listen from start to finish. This is a major problem with these youtube react videos they only catch a piece of the masterpiece. The whole album is 1 song broken into many acts.
Dream Theater used to be my favorite band by the time this album came out. Then i met Pain of Salvation and Opeth. PoS is now my favorite band for over 20 years. I'd love to see you react to it.
Yet another band and certain tracks that I KNOW NickNLex will get into from PoS, not many people do reactions to them. Almost anything from the 2nd album "One Hour by the Concrete Lake", (3rd) "The Perfect Element" or (4th) "Remedy Lane". Opeth . . . that will take almost a lifetime ;).
I know this is an insane track by DT. Loving that you are checking out the old stuff! Heard a bit of Working Man by accident in a movie last night. Its called I Think We're Alone Now (amazon prime) with Peter Dinklage & Elle Fanning. The main character only listens to Rush in the entire movie!!! We are doing Working Man soon
@@NicknLex 😬 Studio & Cleveland R30: you guys are going to LOVE the live version ruclips.net/video/sI5VuBzo-Qc/видео.html Too bad I don't have Amazon Prime...
James Labrie's voice was damaged in Costa Rica. He contracted food poisoning and injured his vocal cords from violently vomiting. Not exactly the best conversation to have but I didnt think you knew about that, That being said his voice was always a little grateing but the band waited an eternity to find him......had he not joined prior to the Images and Words I doubt we'd be having this conversation. Great reaction......great album this was them with all guns blazing. This album was a bit of a crossroads for them. After Failing into Infinity was recorded the band was under tremendus pressure from the record company. They almost disbanded, however much like Rush did in 1976 with 2112, Dream Theater handed the record dicks a concept album. The album and tour put Dream Theater on the map . Never again did the record dicks have an opinion of the next DT album. they simply handed the record dicks a completed project and went on tour. ok Good night and stay safe... Jack
This is an amazing Dream Theater track! I'm only a 'casual' DT fan so I hadn't heard it before thank you. I believe I own only two or three of their cd's plus one live dvd. I did catch them live in 2019 and they were awesome! Have you ever seen the G3 live dvd? Crazy good! How does JP remember those complicated pieces he plays? It's funny that Lex mentioned DT vocals. That's where I have trouble with them. Sometimes, James' voice is not pleasing to my ears. Although I thought he sounded great on their 2019 album "Distance Over Time". - Have you two ever listened to the band Alter Bridge or the band Tremonti? Two of my favorites.
Do the whole album, the song makes a lot more sense.it is a part of a story that goes from song to song,I love this album so much.i watched play in India when they visited 2 years ago in October
One more note, it's not a Sitar, it's Jordan on his Korg making the sound from his presets. just info.

This is their "magna cum laude" ... nothing better... for me the best prog metal album ever made... you should do a marathon listen of the whole album, since there is not a regular song in this concept album... all of them are outstanding!!! Saludos desde España!!
Also, I can't wait until y'all listen to some Enslaved. Space rock meets Viking metal. I get the sense you guys don't do the extreme metal, which is fine. I still think you'll find plenty to enjoy in Enslaved's recent material. "Sequence" is quite a fascinating ride. "Storm Son" is my personal favorite. "Distant Shores" is straight modern prog with no extreme metal, if you want to start there.
You two really need to check out the band Jinjer. I'll only say that they are a progressive band from Ukraine. I'm a 54 year old musician and they are my favorite band from this century. I saw them on their first headlining tour of the US in the fall of '19. Among the best live bands I've witnessed. I'd recommend Teacher Teacher official vid. I'm a new sub btw. Cheers! 🍻 FYI , your views and subs will go way up if you choose to go on a Jinjer journey. 😎
The band Creed started in 1994 and DT recorded the song Home in 1999, so there could have been some influences there. Muse also started in 1994 and DT recorded some tracks that sounded like Muse. I can listen to one song from DT and hear 10 different bands and 10 different genres.
This song, 'Glass Prison' and pretty much all of the 'Train of Thought' album are their best songs imo. I'm not massively into music thats overly progressive and prefer heavier/rockier stuff. When they do those type of songs its awesome. And props to Guthrie (Govan) too! He taught my brother at the ACM Guildford back around 2004 before he was known (pre RUclips obv). Been following his career ever since those days when my brother would come back home and gush about this tutor/teacher called Guthrie. I love my Petruccis, Satrianis, Vais etc, but Guthrie is the GOAT.
HAHAHA you're the third person since we started the channel almost two months ago to tell us that. He still doesn't see it! If I look at him under a different light, I can see a TINY hint of Michael J. Fox. We're both big fans so this is definitely awesome to hear! Thanks! :P Sending peace, Lex
It's definitely the best song on the album and one that you can listen to on it's own (and I can't really say the same for the other songs on the album unfortunately). It's about having the full package however, so I would recommend the album as a whole before I ever recommended this song on it's own. If you're gonna listen to one of the tracks on their own however, this is what I would pick.
I highly recommend reading the lyrics from the cd jacket and listen from beginning to end. James has his problems but not on this album! He changes his voice to fit the characters perfectly. You can also see past and present in the story. One of the greatest albums of all time. I saw this live in Phoenix at the legendary Celebrity Theater....in the round.....will never forget that experience! Savor the album, story and music. Also....they left the end wide open to the listener to figure out how it ends....genius.!🤘
Best concept album of all times. DT played it at my very first DT concert in 2000 and after having heard the fantastic end of Finally Free Mike Portnoy was my drum hero forever, followed by Neil Peart. Neil is more filigree, but MP is more fun to watch. If you ever plan to watch Finally Free live, Live Scenes from New York is a must. Mike Mangini never came close, even though he's a good drummer; just not so much fun to watch
DT are super cool (Portnoy is one of my Favourites) Speaking of origins of Said riffs... Play her '5 minutes alone' by Pantera or 'walk' or Anything by them or megadeth & she won't mention CREED again - but I only heard creed a couple of years ago & it wasn't that bad. (Not a hater) .also Check Out Alan Holdsworth Beautiful solo's on 'A Kinder Eye' by Level 42 , and also on 'She Can't help herself' both are Buried in the track but on ear phones loud you'll enjoy.
OMG! Lex killed my groove too.... and gave me a heart attack. Stopping this amazing song and bringing up Creed. LOL. Love you Lex, but that is hard pill to swallow. I will trust you though.👍
Siiiii ya sabemos!! He estado estudiando este último mes y me falta otro mes! Pero ya grabamos una y sale pronto - (y quizás salga tu nombre también 😋) prometido!!! Gracias por tu paciencia!
The mix for this record was soo good on the new live album from London. It sounds better?. I just listened to all Scenes from a Memory Live in London. Some weekend, sit down with some beer, the blu-ray and be blown away. It sounds and looks so good. Lex has to hear it from beginning to end. This girl loves it every time.
Am probably gonna get a lot of critcism for writing this, but Home contains my favourite vocal performance by Monsieur La Brie - like Lex I've never been too fond of his style, but in this song he really shines! In my opinion there are two stand-out tracks on this album - Home being the first and Finally Free (scene 9) being the second, mainly because I'm a drummer and Mike Portnoy is just freaking outstanding, before the outro closes the record, which is very good, but not as good, in my opinion, as Train of Thought. Train of Thought shines, because the band recorded it very quickly (compared to many of their other works) and thus didn't get to overthink their arrangements too much which I feel they sometimes have a tendency to do - and the album contains three highly recommendable songs: As I Am, This Dying Soul and In The Name of God. Am enjoying your reactions very much (subbed?!?) in these quarantine times, so cheers from Denmark - and stay healthy! ...
Please check out Tunisian rock band, Myrath. They blend Western and Middle Eastern sounds perfectly in their music. I suggest taking a look at their live concert 'Live in Carthage'.
Dream theatre never lets you down. That voice my God. Just all master musicians. Great cut! You guys need to check out this one "The answer lies within" ruclips.net/video/72xn8O1vJb0/видео.html Cheers
I’m glad lex is enjoying it so much, maybe the whole album reaction for metropolis part 2 is not too appealing since you already did some of the songs, I would suggest a reaction to six degrees of inner turbulence side b, that would be a interesting concept album for a full reaction, anyway, keep up the good work guys.
Hey guys I already liked your reaction videos before but this was the most fun I had watching you. You definately have to react to the entire album .... Maybe in different videos like this one
I guess I hit "enter" too soon...LOL! It's almost impossible to turn this album off, right? You might consider "The Count of Tuscany" for a future reaction...it's my all-time favorite song, by Dream Theater or anyone else. God bless!!
Last DT With Portnoy (Bought next album & took it back when I realized Portnoy had gone) - love the BC&SL album and best of times - followed by TCOT what a finish... Masterpiece.
I remember hearing 46 and 2 from Tool for the first time on the radio. I got excited because I thought it was Home by DT because of the similar bass line at the beginning. But then I was like this is not DT. I found out it was Tool instead of DT. It's still a good song though.
Check out the band Mastodon and their song Oblivion from their Crack the Skye album from 2009. Phenomenal band, also very progressive and heavy but completely different than Dream Theater. Very original group of musicians, with 3 different singers in a band. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 . Love the channel.
LaBries voice is better in more recent albums. He wrecked his vocal chords in 1995 which restricted his range and his tone. It took a long time to heal given the continued hammer that his voice got on tour and whilst he asserts his voice was sorted by 2002 IMHO I don’t think it was really back in shape until at least ‘black clouds and silver linings’ if then. Check out ‘dramatic turn of events’ ‘Dream Theatre 2013’, ‘Astonishing ( although that is an oddity as it is an attempt at a rock opera) and ‘Distance over time’. Many fans do not like the fact that they became less heavy but LaBries voice was definitely in better shape during this period.
Trapped inside this Octavarium! Trapped inside this Octavarium! Trapped inside this Octavarium! Trapped inside this OCT-A-VA-RI-UUUUUUMMMMMMN!!!!!! You'll see what I'm talking about when you react to Octavarium.🤣🤣😆😆
The end of the track always gives me shivers or makes me "weep". Not too many songs do that, but Petrucci playing the main theme melody . . . . its so damn moving :).
We actually watched The Astonishing tour live! :P They only played that album and nothing else so Nick was really a bit disappointed. I loved the rotating keyboard though - that really stuck with me! - Lex
@@NicknLex yes I saw that! I should have said live at the concert we had 5th row center stage. Lex wait till you hear that voice in "The answer lies within" . Cheers
Speaking of Dream theater " taken inspiration" and turning it into gold, why not reacting to a couple of awesome better-than-original ridiculous official covers they did even for some non metal songs. If you go by my hand I will suggest above everything else the monster cover they did for Beatles - Tenement funster/Lilly of the valley in the Black Clouds and silver linings bonus tracks. That embodies everything one would ever love to both rock and metal, they hit every spectrum of that. Pls react to that!
I see someone else beat me to it, but it can’t be said too many times. Check out the live version from New York, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it🙂 I’m up for watching you guys going through the whole thing in one sitting, with bonus tracks👍😀
@@sandyferati6625 Haven't had the pleasure, but I have some issues with James in a live setting and all the times I've seen them live (besides the Live Scenes From New York show) he's been rather disappointing🙂 In the New York show he only has one weak moment, during A Change Of Seasons, and nails the rest. Every other show I've seen he's been, as I said, rather disappointing, but hey, that's just me👍😀
@@troillmainn London Scenes he has no flat notes at all. He sounds fantastic! I saw the show live 4 times - and in London. London was the best....Although when I saw the show in LA, Home was the best musical experience ever. It was the 2nd show of the tour and really was waaay too loud. But, when Home started, the whole crowd was standing (and even with the chairs we felt squished - the great squished feeling of a concert!) and then started to move as one, like a wave. It was something I won't ever forget. Back the to London show. OMgosh, Beyond this Life, Through Her Eyes, Finally Free...just sooo good. If you haven't got the blu-ray, you should.
Hey! Just subscribed to your channel. Been a fan since 92. Its amazing how all the members have grown musically since then. Enjoy guys. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Amen to that happening already!!!
We just reacted two Rush songs yesterday. We still have to record that one. Maybe tonight. Lex is studying heavy-duty
The sitar sounds were done on the keyboard
It's great that you both share such joy in music. I wish I could hear some of these songs again for the 1st time! Gives me chills, too.
I listen to a lot of the same bands. And, you introduce me to some new stuff so thanks for that. Stay cute both of you...it's the best.
love it . this is my Airplane travel song . every time I get on a plane I play this whole LP .
If you react to The Glass Prison please do a live reaction to the entire AA saga. It's about Mike Portnoy's struggle with alcoholism which include 5 epics that span over 5 albums. This is some if the most technical, emotional, powerful music ever made. It will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride:
Part 1 is The Glass Prison from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Part 2 is This Dying Soul from Train of Thought
Part 3 is The Root of All Evil from Octavarium
Part 4 is Repentance from Systematic Chaos
Part 5 is The Shattered Fortress from Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Alan at it again!
See you everywhere man haha. You have my respects.
Edit!! Beyond this Life!!!Live at Budokan or Live from London. The 🎸is omgosh!!
Would love to see a full reaction to the whole album! Probably one of, if not, the best concept albums ever made!! 🤘🔥
Such a great song. Love the sitar intro, which is really played by Jordan Rudess on the keyboard. Love the whole album but this song is definitely one of many highlights on the album. It really is an album that has to be enjoyed in its entirety. Loved this reaction video. Nice job as always.
Nick I thing I’ve heard that you are learning the new LTE songs? They are so fun to play! Keep up man!
Yes! Check out his progress on our Twitter @NicknlexFilms or Facebook @nicknlex :) will be posting full solo once he’s done! - Lex
Oh man. The Count of Tuscany is such a wonderful song.
fully agree you cant just listen to an act or 2 you gotta listen from start to finish. This is a major problem with these youtube react videos they only catch a piece of the masterpiece. The whole album is 1 song broken into many acts.
Totally agree
Guys! I just forgot to continue this amazing album? Let's go!!!
33:59 Still here, great reaction, thank you so much for sharing this.
This was wicked! This was before I subscribed.... I am listening as I am working....
@@NicknLex 😬 Studio & Cleveland R30: you guys are going to LOVE the live version ruclips.net/video/sI5VuBzo-Qc/видео.html
Too bad I don't have Amazon Prime...
This song is introduce me into TooL, well im glad hear both of them. Both are my favorite band.
Jack
Loved it! Loved it! Great reaction.
Love the reaction, can't wait to the Scenes from a memory complete reaction haha. Saludos🇦🇷
My favorite DT song live
Also, I can't wait until y'all listen to some Enslaved. Space rock meets Viking metal. I get the sense you guys don't do the extreme metal, which is fine. I still think you'll find plenty to enjoy in Enslaved's recent material. "Sequence" is quite a fascinating ride. "Storm Son" is my personal favorite. "Distant Shores" is straight modern prog with no extreme metal, if you want to start there.
there is nothing better in the world to headbang to except daney carey of course
most metal bands have that groove in some track on their álbum, it's universal and everybody likes, when i heard that remind me Kamelot to...
I saw DT open for Satch in '02. DT were killer! The bill was King's X , DT and then Joe Satriani. All were killer! Great show!🤘
Best Album of All Time
This song, 'Glass Prison' and pretty much all of the 'Train of Thought' album are their best songs imo.
Take a look to the Instrumedley at budokan. Then react, then close the whole thing… it’s been a good journey. Love
Your husband looks like Micheal J. Fox when he was younger. Smiles.
Hi there! Great reaction... Still waiting your reaction for Dream Theater - The Best of Times! Thanks! Cheers!
Beyond This Life also Kicks a@@! The live version from London or Budokan!!
Great reaction, more Dream Theater please.
It's not a citar. Just a keyboard sample that Jordan played. Enjoying watching your reactions btw!
Creo que ha pasado mucho tiempo, es necesaria otra reacción a Dream Theater, al menos una vez por semana. Un gran abrazo a ambos.
Siiiii ya sabemos!! He estado estudiando este último mes y me falta otro mes! Pero ya grabamos una y sale pronto - (y quizás salga tu nombre también 😋) prometido!!! Gracias por tu paciencia!
@@NicknLex maravilloso 😉🙋🏻♂️
Am enjoying your reactions very much (subbed?!?) in these quarantine times, so cheers from Denmark - and stay healthy! ...
Por favor, más Dream Theater!!!
Please check out Tunisian rock band, Myrath. They blend Western and Middle Eastern sounds perfectly in their music. I suggest taking a look at their live concert 'Live in Carthage'.
You can continue and do all DT albums :). Must say that you have a nice guitar collection. Rock on!
Dream theatre never lets you down. That voice my God. Just all master musicians. Great cut! You guys need to check out this one "The answer lies within" ruclips.net/video/72xn8O1vJb0/видео.html Cheers
If you want to lose your mind completely, check out "Instrumedley" from the Live in Budokan dvd. Bring a back up pair of underwear!
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! :) - Lex
@@NicknLex de nada Tia 🙂 es mi placer
I guess I hit "enter" too soon...LOL! It's almost impossible to turn this album off, right?
You might consider "The Count of Tuscany" for a future reaction...it's my all-time favorite song, by Dream Theater or anyone else.
God bless!!
Count of Tuscany is probably my favorite as well. You have good taste
@@jiangarang ...thanks!
Last DT With Portnoy (Bought next album & took it back when I realized Portnoy had gone) - love the BC&SL album and best of times - followed by TCOT what a finish... Masterpiece.
And Octavarium
Dream Theater - outcry
I remember hearing 46 and 2 from Tool for the first time on the radio. I got excited because I thought it was Home by DT because of the similar bass line at the beginning. But then I was like this is not DT. I found out it was Tool instead of DT. It's still a good song though.
DT even called that bass line their Tool riff on the Live Scenes from NY commentary.
This reminds me of a twist on 2 and 26!
Still hoping you’ll check out BIG BIG TRAIN - Especially EAST COAST RACER or THE TRANSIT OF VENUS ACROSS THE SUN
I know this is neither here nor there but I just wanted to say hey Lexi is so unbelievably beautiful
You gotta see Jordan play live, he rotates the keyboard. They are astonishing Live.
We actually watched The Astonishing tour live! :P
They only played that album and nothing else so Nick was really a bit disappointed.
Check out the live version from New York, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it🙂
I’m up for watching you guys going through the whole thing in one sitting, with bonus tracks👍😀
Actually the new live version from London I like better!
@@sandyferati6625 Haven't had the pleasure, but I have some issues with James in a live setting and all the times I've seen them live (besides the Live Scenes From New York show) he's been rather disappointing🙂
In the New York show he only has one weak moment, during A Change Of Seasons, and nails the rest.
It's beautiful and won best live album (not sure from who, rock something, guitar something, whatever)
I really think its just your headphones because this record does not sound muffled at all lol (love your guys reaction)
I think you're right we still used super cheap headsets when we did this reaction.
Just wait until you hear Beyond This Life from this album. It's absolutely bonkers like in a Frank Zappa kind of a way.
