Finally found this kind of tutorial after a long time. Now it's time to buy a cheap RC on market ($7) and modify it like this and add some decals. Thank Man!
So I got these ESC's and a Flysky GT3C as well. And connected it all up to an old F-250 by New Bright, runs well, change the motors when I want to. And these ESC's are just really good for little cars.
I did this with a toy tugboat. The electronics that were originally in it were coated in beeswax that didn't prevent the main board from getting wet and shorting things out. It didn't function when I got it so I stripped everything out except the original motor and upgraded the electronics to hobby grade. The lights, wenches and everything are run off separate circuits I had to build, but the basic ESC, and receiver set up was easy. I did have to add a servo for steering, but the new one was easily adapted to the existing steering system with minimal modification.
@@JayDrone I believe I did, its on You Tube under RC Hobbiest Extreme. I do have a fireboat I plan on doing next. It's basically the same design but better electronics . The first one was a fishing trawler, not a tug boat. It's called MONICA. You cannot find one anywhere now because they all failed and went to the landfill or recycle. I picked mine up from the local Goodwill for $14. I took a chance figuring it probably wouldn't work( it didnt). The LED lights came on and that was it. I reworked all the lighting, adding spot lights, interior lighting and such. Sadly I fried the wench motor last time I rigged it up due to mis- labeling the connectors to the battery. This winter, I plan on reworking the wench( used for raising and lowering the nets) system. I didn't care for the cheap crappy brushed motor in it anyways. I will replace it with a re- worked servo by eliminating the stops and converting it to a wench motor. There are simple videos on that procedure.
Saw your video, i have a very cheap jada fast and furious car that i modded, i think it has the same insides. I added a 2 in 1 esc/reciever and also a servo. Original it had a 3,7v battery so i upgraded to 2s 14650 900mah.. It is so freaking fast now and thanks to the servo not only donuts but also awesome long drifts, this upgrade is eating the tires hard so i gues i have to find a way to put some descent rubber on it. Thanks for inspiration 👍🏻
Tha js for the video just ordered the esc and the controller with receiver. And gota free rc car from an estate sale can't wait for the parts to come in this is going to be wild. Great video and instructions.
Super easy to do a very effective you’re doing something I haven’t done yet lol. I actually have gone to thrift stores like Goodwill and other oddball places looking for a decent remote control car without the remote thinking you could get it super cheap and then do this modification good luck with the modification again super simple happy video helped

Hey Bro came across your Channel VERY COOL...Question: Do you think a 2004 Toyota Celica (Jada Toys Import Racer) 1:10 Scale 27mhz can be upgraded with a Brushed motor?...I've had ths car almost 20yrs just found it again..want to beat my cousins 30mph R/c
@@JayDrone what Parts would you suggest I get and Cites to grab them from?...And 1 more quest. You think I'll have to change the remote control aswell?
I tried this out but found lots of delay and stalling. I'm using a fs i6x controller (this is meant for fixed wing) but I feel like this isn't the problem because it has no delay with my RC plane. And it should still work with a 2 channel car so idk. I even put the wires on channel 7 which was for switches (their only 100% 0%-100% so everything should be exact and precise) yet it still has a delay. I'm thinking this might be the esc but again idk.If anyone knows why or a fix please let me know. Still great video😊
I was just thinking that if i buy a rastar rc ferrari la Ferrari apreta of 1:14 scale can i make a drifting car from it . The remote thats comes with it . Because its hard to find the remote like you got . It costs too much i can buy 4 cars in that price so is it possible to convert your toy grade car into hobby with the same remote only i can fit esc 20a in it and a servo but i wanna use the stock remote
Omg thank. I've been trying to make a hobby grade servo work on toy grade rc drift but this way I can get proportional steering with factory toy motor. Does one need to remove the spring on the steering trim????
kinda opposite.. if you want semi proportional steering from the bang bang steering motor you'll want a thicker stronger spring, and/or some resistors on the motor leads. definitely better off using a servo, little 9 gram servo's are about a dollar in eBay.
Maybe ya already did, but maybe if you could list all the supplies needed, that would help me a lot. I wanna do this. I went through a lot of jada hyperchargers in the last year. But, I need help to know what all to buy.
Man you're awesome. Planning to mod out my new bright corvette. But i have a question. The flysky controller you have in the description box, it comes with a receiver. Can we use that receiver or do we have to buy a separate receiver?
Do you have to use a compatible receiver to transmitter the transmitter being the remote control that you were using so in this instance you would need again a compatible transmitter to receiver hopefully that makes sense
Not kids watch the video I literally explain everything I’m using you could also check in the comments or in the description I might have stuff linked everything was purchased off Amazon
Unfortunately a lot of his toys are built completely different this was literally to demonstrate how to cut the wires from the main board use electronic speed controllers and have variable speed just as well as the able to use any controller of your liking providing your pair the receiver to the transmitter
You can if you like it won’t hurt anything being in there myself I took mine completely out to wires in the front is for your steering tires in the back is for your motor
Loved the video, it was very simple but explained everything at the same time. I would love to try this out with the 1:24 scale Jada Toys RC Lightning Mcqueen, I just worry that it won't have enough room for the electronics. I already love the car as is, it is great with driving, and its fun, but one; the stock remote is starting to feel more flimsy as I use it, and that proportional throttle would be awesome, because everytime I try to drive him, I spin out on the floor. Would upgrading the Mcqueen mean having to give up the turbo mode though? If that is the case, then I might not do it, but what do you think, is there some way to still keep the turbo mode on the car with the hobby grade remote? Sorry this is so long, but I am fascinated by this upgrade, its so simple, but it makes a world of difference in making a cheap toy car worth the money. (Because they always end up wearing out within a few years lol)
Thank you for the video, but I watched it and I am failing to see how this answers my question, the motor McQueen has has a little board on it, so I'm thinking that is what makes the turbo mode possible, would I just need to give McQueen another motor, and ditch the turbo mode? Or would upgrading McQueen make his turbo mode speed his new top speed by default?

If it only has a Plaza Negitive coming off of it then yes it should work but if there’s any type of electronic speed controller in between it and the board and now it will not work
@@JayDrone Just an update that this does work with electromagnet steering. I resurrected a Nikko Lazer RC car from I think the early to mid 90s, that wasn't working (I am guessing because of corrosion on the circuit board). Thanks for the video it helped a lot.
My kid just got the Spiderman remote control car, with 5-10 minutes of playing with it. it started making a grinding sound and barely accelerates and goes real slow. if i pick it up and press the forward, it starts off grinding for a second and then the wheeels start spinning freely and fast without the grinding noise. But as soon as yoi let go or put it on the ground, it starts the very loud grinding noise
The grinding noise that you’re probably hearing is probably a gear gear feed system that is missing a tooth in the year or the year is not making complete contact that’s what I would assume or the motor itself is burned out or burning out

You’re probably looking at $100 but once you have the remote then to do it to any other RC car you’re probably looking at $30 an RC car and give her check
Please help. I've done this to the t of how u do it. When I wire everything up both ESC blink like yours but blinks faster. I took one of the ESC from one of my wpl rc and I had another one laying around and the I was using worked fine. So after doing this nothing happened. So I unhooked everything and put it back on my wpl rc and now my wpl doesn't work. The steering does but not motor. Any idea what the fast blinking means or why my ESC did work and now doesn't. Please reply asap
You can try rebooting it and see if that works I never had any issues as a shout exactly how to set it up I’m sorry that you’re having issues hopefully you can get it figured out
I think it was the way I made the jumper wire. I had the 2 ESC jumping from one another vs having them ran in 2 sequences. I fried both ESC this way lol
I need some help I have a little project 20$ jada Hyper charger trying to upgrade it I saved a video of the project but it’s private now I bought everything I need I believe I have an soldering and a 18650 battery and holder for it connected it but it’s not working the car still works but I don’t think that the speed changed much there’s 2 modes regular and boost mode in the video that I saw there was 2 18650s installed just wanna start with one please help if you can thanks
It’s really simple just follow this video you’re not gonna get the boost mode you’ll get optimal power and you can also increase the voltage but don’t do too much because some of these cars cannot handle much more voltage than originally designed for one of the Jada hyper cars I have done this too it’s a police car they came with I think in metallic red Camaro the police car I have done the exact same thing I did in this video
Tried and it didn't work. Steering kept going rapidly back and forth no matter what direction I turned. Forward was a bit jumpy, and reverse kept slightly going back then jumping into a jumpy forward. 🤷♂️

Thanks for the video, and i need the same setup you did for a friend of mine, can you list all the parts you used in this video for me? thanks you definitely got a new subscriber.

@@JayDrone Thanks, got it.
Does this give me a controllable throttle? Or will it still be an on off type throttle?
It will give you what you are asking which is called variable throttle
Wait what is this upgrade doing? Is it making the battery last longer or is it making it faster?
This will potentially make it faster just as well as allow you Variable throttle and potentially steering
It will also give you longer control range
Oh cool and thanks for replying even though it’s been a year later
What if I don't have the remote ? Just asking trying to get into the r/c game. Thanks in advance.🤘
How much for whole setup you used for it?
You’re probably looking at $100 but once you have the remote then to do it to any other RC car you’re probably looking at $30 an RC car and give her check
@@JayDrone thanks
Does this make the car faster
More controllable n if volts are increased YES 🙌 faster
very good tutorial. is there a way to do it without the ESC?
Might be but doubt it
Hi Jay, thinking getting a simulator for a heli/ multi rotor drone. Have you any ideas of a good available sim programme?
depends on ur pc
Can the original board take 2s? I'm planning on molding mine but don't want to spend too much money
Because the car only costs $25 waste of money to waste a ton it it I'm just looking to make it faster with what i have
Most will take 2s
Please help. I've done this to the t of how u do it. When I wire everything up both ESC blink like yours but blinks faster. I took one of the ESC from one of my wpl rc and I had another one laying around and the I was using worked fine. So after doing this nothing happened. So I unhooked everything and put it back on my wpl rc and now my wpl doesn't work. The steering does but not motor. Any idea what the fast blinking means or why my ESC did work and now doesn't. Please reply asap
Do I need to bind my remote if it was already binded before doing this
You can try rebooting it and see if that works I never had any issues as a shout exactly how to set it up I’m sorry that you’re having issues hopefully you can get it figured out
I think it was the way I made the jumper wire.
Is this fully proportional?
Throttle yes - steering kinda unless u install a servo motor for steering
@@JayDrone ok thnks
What battery did you use? Do you have a link to a battery?
Will this make it faster rc car?
It might - slightly
@@JayDrone alright thank u
@JayDrone it might? You're being sarcastic, aren't you. Lol?
Can i use my old radio controler?
Yes
Thanks bro.. is there a link you can share where I could buy the stuff I need
Check the description
Can you do that with a atv
Yes
Like it
Does this work on a Nissan skyline from Jada RC?
Yes any car or truck u can do this with
My 10$rcjust went into smoke tried to put 4.8 volt battery and right when I connected it went into smoke
If you over, bolted, typical, or when it really sounds like it might not have had the connection, right
@@JayDrone thanks man 🙏🏻it was prolly to much for the cheap lil mother bored the car came with
Anyone has good advice on how to convert to long range rc?
This setup will give u range
What is the spec of the lipo battery you are running?
4v 600maH @ 7:10
Stock motor?
Yes
Bam !
Bam
Bout to turn the fast and furious supra to hobby grade
Thad b doap
@@JayDrone im working on it now tomorrow ill hit the local hobby store planning on making a vid for RUclips
I put a servo in mine
Nice I did that with another build
All it needs is a different canopy 😂
it is not proportional so why not just put bigger battery in
It very much is proportional throttle. Do you have full range of stick movement versus all go or all no
👍👍👍👍🎮🎮🎮👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇳🇱
U need to go to Harvard
Ty
i have a hypercharger! its a supra!
Cool
