Southern got great balance for a band wit so many people blowin like tht. U would think everyone some parts would be lost or overpowering but everyone knows wen to come out and wen to back off

The battles between these two bands are ALWAYS epic so I usually don't even comment because it's always a close battle. This one, however, I have to give to JSU. Southerns "Something in My Heart" was in beast mode, but that's about it. JSU was consistent and came with it on every song. #JSUAllDay
The two best HBCU bands battling can not wait for the 2012 to start. Not sure what to expect from the Sonic Boom with there new band director, I hope he knows you can not go up against the Juke Box half stepping.
I agree with you 100%. I always say SU problem was their tubas dont hold the foundation of the band like JSU or TnSU does but as far as the rest of the wind section goes there are only few that hold up with them, not to mention their arrangements alone can kill a band by itself
heyyyy i love su but i like jsu to plus a guy that use to go jsu his name is moses he ues to be on the drumline like 12 years ago he helps our drumline out i like him he's awsome he means busniess to but he got us looken good and confident thank u moses :)
JSU's sound isnt FULL. the Juke's sound is FULL. JSU's bones try and play OVER the band. SU's bones play WITH the band. all JSU baritones do is play 4 high notes. SU's baritones have more intricate parts. JSU's trumpets are deep but still arent carrying across the field. SU's carry while balancing with the lower brass. It's details like these that set the Juke apart from others.
Thats why I like it when they play in Jackson cuz the recording is always in the middle of the field, plus JSU doesnt have to be cramped up together like they do when they play in SU territory. With that being said I dont think JSU has the same power that they use to so I cant way that they won this one
JSU does not have a "new" band director. D. Taylor is back as band director at JSU. He is a former Sonic Boom member and past director from one of the most stellar periods for the Boom. No t only does he know Jackson St and The Boom, but he knows the SWAC very well. Not at all is he their "new" director!
You can expect a cleaner JSU. Might not be what younger folks are use to, but the return of the real BOOM is on the way so either you'll like it or you won't.

How come when the BoomBox comes around...folks from JSt wanna talk about song selection...but, never want to talk about arrangements and execution of said song selection? 1 good arrangements for every 10 great SU arrangement don't mean isht in BR. You don't get points for a title of a song. The horn players AND arranger gotta be hitt'n.
