That such a cool effect with that overlay over the country scenes. Also I love how I'm enjoying these concepts that I'll never live. Nobody promised me a courtyard, and I don't even know anyone from Louisiana.
This is excellent. She is so freakin’ brilliant. “The Delta Sweete” is a flat out masterpiece. Tough to think about all the songs she probably has lying around that we’ll never hear. Anyway, great quality. Thank you for posting.
Well, there's now an 8-CD boxed set , so they're available. She is correct to say "No" to comeback offers. Leave 'em with good memories. She's alive and well, but she'll be 80 years old in 2022.
I loved these songs when I was a teenager! I checked out her album from the library and played them over and over. When she smiles she puts me in mind of Kate Bush.
I'm about as old as this song is, but had never heard it until about 2 months ago when I learned about it, actually, through the amaaaaaazing cover by Beth Orton on the Mercury Rev recreation of "The Delta Sweete." Since then I've been in a wormhole learning about Bobbie's genius. This TV version is sooooo great. Thank you for sharing.
Crazy how one day she just disappeared never to be heard from again. Something def spooked her about the music business she was huge then to disappear. She was gorgeous and her hair was real and thick
Seem's my Favorites cant get in any Hall of Fame,,,,Bobbie Gentry,,,,Ted Nugent, Pete Rose,,,,,I like talent,,,and these 3 were some of the Best Ever and they will all ways be in My Hall Of Fame,,,Check out Bobbie Gentry's, Conspiracy of Homer Jones,,,,what a killer song
The description saying Randy Newman wrote Louisiana Man - that is wrong. This song was written by Doug Kershaw. Randy Newman had a song called "Louisiana 1927" which was a different song, about the flood.
