Internationally acclaimed and film focused genre cinema home video distributor, Vinegar Syndrome, is proud to announce the formation of Vinegar Syndrome Pictures. VSP is a fresh sub-branding dedicated specifically to the production and distribution of carefully curated, often daring, first fun, genre-based feature films exclusively photographed on motion picture film.
VSP's initial release slate will kick off with NEW YORK NINJA, a wild action comedy originally directed by and starring John Liu, and produced by legendary New York exploitation producer Arthur Schweitzer. While NINJA was shot entirely on 35mm in 1984, the project was abandoned during production resulting in all original sound materials, scripts and treatments going missing. The rights and unedited original negative were subsequently acquired by Vinegar Syndrome, who have meticulously constructed and completed the film, enlisting the talents of genre film superstars Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Michael Berryman and Cynthia Rothrock to voice the leads. NINJA will receive its world festival premiere this Fall where it will be presented by Vinegar Syndrome's Kurtis Spieler, who spearheaded the project, with additional details on home video and digital distribution to be announced.
Following NINJA, VSP, in association with Magnolia Pictures, will present the world 4K UHD Home Video Debut of Prano Bailey-Bond's critically acclaimed, stunningly beautiful, and highly unnerving 35mm lensed psychological thriller, CENSOR, which includes stock footage from the Vinegar Syndrome vault including FROZEN SCREAM! VSP's deluxe and extra features packed UHD/Blu-ray special edition will be available for pre-order exclusively from VinegarSyndrome.com later this month, and will come housed in a limited edition rigid slipbox with newly commissioned artwork.
In addition to NEW YORK NINJA and CENSOR, VSP is preparing several additional titles for both home video as well theatrical distribution and is planning to enter pre-production on a new feature film this Winter.
I just saw this film, and I have to say it's a masterpiece. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, NY with the original twin towers not only has this film hit home for me; it is a well rounded nostalgic total restoration. Big kudos to the original cast, crew, and vinegar syndrome for making an epic NY 80s comeback.

HOLY F'N SHIT a lost Ninja action film from the 80s that was never finished and all the audio lost and VS not only got the rights and finished the film they got Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Michael Berryman, Leon Issac Kennedy, Linnea Quigley and Cynthia Rothrock to voice the people in the film! This looks awesome!
It's just a shame David Hess is no longer with us, he dubbed a single Bruceploitation film and his performance was awesome.

Not just a fan but as an honest critic I’m hoping as a 52 year old that this 80s style of filming appeals to the younger generation where everything is computers and special effects. I do see potential to use this as a start to a series for we all need hero’s these days . We have leaders we have police but unfortunately we have a lot of criminals out there .

2021 is the year the world finally saw sense and realised just how amazing Fu flicks are. I know this is a Ninja film but John Liu was a superkicking Kung Fu star of the mid to late 70's he was the student of Flash Legs Tan Tao Liang. Secret Rivals 1 & 2, Instant Kung Fu Man, Death Duel Of Kung Fu, Mar's Villa, Invincible Armour, Snuff Bottle Connection - all quality Liu films. This looks like immensely fun trash, those films are legit Fu classics. With the exception of Death Duel of Kung Fu and Mar's Villa, all were choreographed by the Yuen clan at their peak. Yuen Kwai used to double Liu for the Operatic skills for the most part.

Caught this with a full house here in Toronto this weekend. So much fun!
Just watched this last night…it’s fucking amazing. A midnight movie classic, the soundtrack, though new, sounds amazingly accurate to the time period, and the cast/characters/plot/dubbing are all deranged. The fact that they had to reconstruct it since it was missing audio + storyboards etc, results in a film that looks like it was made by someone who went to film school, actually got pretty good at cinematography and some other stuff, but also had untreated schizophrenia. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and see it ASAP.
This looks like a contender for best release of the year in my opinion 🔥

@@ShawnMathew I'm 80% confident it's a joke because the chances of there being TWO unfinished John Liu movies that have ninjas in them are pretty low.
Granted IIRC they had eight hours of raw footage to work with for New York Ninja, so who knows.
And I really hope they don't produce a brand new film because whenever a bad film creator suddenly notices the ironic audience, they intentionally start hamming it up and it stops being good.

Vinegar Syndrome stopped making dvds long ago. Newer VS blu-rays doesn't have DVDs.

@@williamchico6553 Most likely the obscure movies are always selling insanely well on blu-rays as it's a strong niche market. DVDs are more for the mainstream market who buys them from places such as wal-mart and amazon. It's a trend I noticed with likes of scream factory and arrow video no longer making dvds anymore due to them not selling well. Nearly all of their buyers are far more interested in blu-rays.
The music is increible amazing
when an 80's B-movie on film looks better than a AAA-movie shot on an Alexa...

Ran into this while scrolling for movies to watch on an 1HD and saw the title cover. It looked so cheesy i thought to myself it couldn't be real, now after watching the trailer, im even more interested.

I happened to see this on the line-up last night and recorded it having absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I'm attempting to watch it after putting my kid to bed and I'm afraid I'm going to wake her up from not being able to contain my laughter and I'm only 10 minutes in.
