I was fortunate enough to ride today, and the train tunnel effects blew me away. The onboard audio is so good that for a moment I actually thought they’d put a real stream whistle in the ride.
I like the commitment in bringing the wooden foot in the painting back at the end of the ride XD Now if only one day Blazing Fury at Dollywood would get a total makeover like this cuz as fun as that ride is it is starting to show its age too.

Definitely agree! I love how they kept the couple yelling at one another about him getting his pants on. My mom used to quote it every time we rode the original ride. She has a home video somewhere from the late 90’s or early 00’s of us all on the ride and even then she quoted it. 😂
I watched a video of it to before this came out. But, there is SO much to see, I rode it 5 times today and still saw new stuff each ride. The video doesn't do the actual experience justice.
My favorite ride! I was worried they would completely change and "modernize" the ride, but they stayed very true to the original, and I'd say it's a huge improvement!

I think the people who wanted the ride to be exactly the same as the old one won't be too disappointed (except for the missing smells and breakdowns). I suppose from the perspective of a family friendly nostalgic ride this will fit the bill. BUT for $30 million and over 30 years later I can't help but think - we have rides that use real fire, wind, rain, video projection, animatronics, rotating carts (Time Traveler), electrical acceleration (Powder Keg). In my imagination I thought this ride could be the most thrilling in the park. BUT it is a family friendly ride. Can't please everyone. Still, congratulations! Looking forward to what you do next! New Thunderation anyone?
Rode the new Fire In The Hole a couple of times on a recent visit of Silver Dollar City. It’s very reminiscent of the original, albeit much smoother and with more detail in the dioramas. That being said, for me it lacked the nostalgia factor (the ricketyness, smells, etc.), which made the original so endearing. Still an enjoyable ride and definitely a more family friendly / less intimidating experience than Powder Keg, The Time Traveler, etc.

The original FITH was darker and always felt kinda spooky. This new one isn't as dark and you can see the metal ceiling of the building during parts of the ride which was weird to me.
Wish they would have kept the strobe light effect on the final drop into water. I remember that would be so trippy watching the water droplets in the air from the splash.
I'm glad they kept the story of the Baldknobers.Their story needs to be told and kept alive for future generations. For the crimes that they committed against the citizens of the ozarks.
I love the POV! you guys did a wonderful job on the ride. I do have a small complaint though. it was stated several times that the scenes removed from the original ride would be put back in the new version of the ride, but after watching this pov and 3 others, its obvious that the removed scenes weren't put back into the new ride.
I believe there is one somewhere in their video list. If not the carpetbagger has a sdc video that they gave him pov footage to use from a couple years ago
I'd been riding the original for 45 years. Everytime I visited SDC, FITH was one of those rides my kids & I could go on 10x's and still not be tired of it. We all rode this new version one time, shrugged our shoulders, and had zero desire to revisit it the rest of the time we were there. The original felt hand-made, the new one felt factory produced.
This was so much scarier than the original😭I was already scared of the first one but this one is pure nightmare fuel! I couldn’t open my eyes the whole ride!
The old one was basically tearing itself apart and was becoming too costly to maintain. From what I understood it was cheaper to completely rebuild it from the ground up than to refurbish the old one.
We use to go here a couple times a year. Now with prices almost 90 bucks per person, we can't afford to go. We would spend all of our money getting in. We go to six flags now which I hate, but it's something to do.... sure do miss going to silver dollar city.
Rode this today after riding the original probably over 300 times. I hate to say it isn't nearly as good. It just feels off, too bright and easy to see you're in a warehouse. Feels like a temporary ride setup for a specific seasonal event. You know, like a retrofit for Halloween. Lots of dead space and black temp walls in large sections of the ride. The final drop feels like half the size of the original. I love that they kept it mostly the same, but they really should have added a thrilling surprise. Why spend all that money to recreate a lesser version than what they had?
