Skip I hate to see the silos go. We have silos and bags it is a toss up. Our last unloaders was15000. We have recoated3 of them and replaced door frames.they are expensive to maintain. When we figure how many loaders and mixers to feed out of the bags it is pretty much a wash. In the winter or when it is raining it is a lot easier to push the buttons and turn on the belt feeder on.😂What works for one operation doesn’t mean it works for the other. Well. If your gonna feed 2 bunks make sure your new mixer can feed from both sides. Biggest advice I can give would be consider thinking about moving to robotic milkers. That would save a lot of time and maintenance. Many dairy men have said it made their lives much easier. You also add in the internal tagging system and you can know your cows health in every way from your phone anywhere.
I agree with the hoof trimmer schedule we get our guys Dean and Chad to take care of us 4 times per year. We usually never have many issues. The cows walk through the copper sulfate foot bath every day twice per day. That is our plan.

Use an ai company to breed your cows. When you get the mixer going try to have your divided into two or three groups. Good luck with all of the changes.

Been to Charlevoix twice. Once when I was 12 and then again in my thirties when my sister got married there. That was 19 years ago and being from Texas I have not been able to go back since. But what a town. I really want to go back. It is unbelievably beautiful unlike anything we have in Texas.

Nathan looked like a convict with all the orange on while milking. 😂😂. You will enjoy the Ag bags vs the silos but remember to leave room for snow fall in the winter and where you plan to plow it. If your not having any digestion issues I would do without the straw in the TMR. Its nutrient void dry matter that will just be taking up space in the rumen.

Yeah hoof trimming is a important for animals health. Not sure about the commenting on the feed part of it. Sorry I don't know your cows. But I'm sure you have it figured out. My Dad always wanted us to feed and after they was all resting. They was some left over in the bunk. Then you knew they was full

At the dairy I’m at I’m the feed guy and I put in mineral and energy booster soy bean meal hominy hay and silage is our mixture topped off with water the amount poundage wise varies on how many cows I’m feeding for
I think it will be hard to go only in the middle as cows will swamp the side you fill up but maybe I will be surprised or are you planning to block it off til you get the feed out? Looks like those poles in the middle would have to come out or get different feeders? Looking forward to see the progress of this update! Thanks for the video!
What type of parlor? Single 6 side opening? Or more than 6 stalls? I ran a double 6 herringbone, and eventually learned that it only took 1 person, as long as I was the 1 person....😮

How are you gonna dump the feed from the mixer into that bunk with all those wodden posts?…..if you leave the bunk the way it is, it will be a pain dumping the TMR. Also the amount of fuel that you will be using is gonna be huge….feed mixers use a lot of fuel. Keep up the good work.

@KipSieglerFarming1 get yourself a John Deere 324L loader you can use all of your skidloader attachments on it as well we have 2 brand new ones sitting on the lot at the John Deere dealer I work at
Hire a nutritionist. Your herd is too big to gamble on guessing. Overfeeding costs money, Underfeeding costs money. Not feeding the right nutrients costs in the herds health in the long run.

Did you contact the Amish about tearing down your cilos? I know here in PA we see the Amish taking some of the older cilos and reusing them.

If you go away from you silo of grain would you consider using dry corn with a bin n roller mill of some kind just a thought

You take all that frame work off the H bunks the animals will be in the bunks laying on the feed and will be pitching manure out
