This is brilliant! I thought I knew a few things about subtractive synthesis, but explaining it through real instruments is something the kids should be taught in school. And that last patch was just genius. Thank you! You made my day.
Excellent video. Learned a lot about the sound of different instruments, and the final part on recreating the 80’s synth sound with a single VCO was very cool. Thank you for sharing this and I will sign up for your channel.
what a great video :))) very educational thank you! would you mind adding the chapters of every instrument you played ? that'd be icing on the cake actually
Stop trolling because "acoustic" have been missed in title. This maybe one of the best video to explain how build good fake acoustic sounds on a cheap synth.
Really cool demo! Most demos of the crave shows it as this almost crude analog synthesizer and, to me it is somewhat of the appeal of this machine. I am surprised at how versatile it really is.
Glad you cleared that up, as I was a bit confused. Was gonna go have a look at the Crave manual, lol, as I don’t have one and wasn’t sure what it would be on my synth.
Oh man, please do more of these videos. I really want to try this with my Moog Grandmother! I was recently blown away by the acoustic sounds a guy got on a Prophet V, and I was thinking what magic is this? I don’t have $5k for a Prophet V sadly, but you have inspired me to try my hand using what I do have, my Grandmother and Volca Modular (love your Volca videos by the way). This is the video I was mentioning about the incredible Prophet V sounds. Worth a watch in my opinion. ruclips.net/video/GAD4DhdCM2c/видео.html
I agree, I mentioned in my Volca video that the reason I say "a real instrument" is that is what most people asked me when I was showing them what it could do. "It sounds great, but can it sound like a real instrument". The crave is obviously not imaginary, so therefore it is a real instrument. It sounded a lot better than "non-electrified, conventional or traditional wind, brass or stringed instrument" :)
Yep. It was a bit tongue in cheek, however I said that because a friend said exactly that to me and so I used it. Even virtual instruments are real - unless you are a mathematician :)
It is a real instrument. A synth is an instrument. It makes sounds. It has form. It occupies a certain about of space and obeys all laws of known physics. It can be played. You can write music with it. So yeah, without even watching this video, I would say that it can sound like a real instrument. Can you make it sound like an oboe? Well I don't know. But my point is that the title of this video should have been "Can a Behringer Crave sound like an OTHER instrument". There. I feel much better now. Good day and have fun with your 200 dollar toy.
You dont sound condescending, obnoxious and plain rude at all. Thank you for your immensely helpful comment. You have a good day Sir with your childlike (toy-ish?) manners.
You are correct, it is a real instrument. The title is just a simple thing that, to be honest, lots of people have said to me. "It sounds great, but can it sound like a real instrument?" I thought it sounded like a good title. It sounds a lot better than "Can a Behringer Crave sound like a non-electrified acoustic instrument". Hmm, actually..... :)
This is the best demonstration of Crave I've seen so far! 😀😀😀 It's amazing what you can do with a single oscillator.
Thankyou. This wasn't really about a Crave per se, but how sounds of instruments work and are constructed. Just a really nice lesson for beginners.
This is brilliant! I thought I knew a few things about subtractive synthesis, but explaining it through real instruments is something the kids should be taught in school. And that last patch was just genius. Thank you! You made my day.
A synthesizer IS by definition a real instrument. But very nice demo!
true
Triggered me a bit too.
By "real" he means acoustic.
Bonkers! I had no idea a single oscillator synth could be this adaptable.
Marvelous, finally the basics!
Great video, thanks!
Very nice video…nice sounds! 👍
very good demonstration, absolutely useful
That was great, I learnt stuff and will no doubt watch this again... Subbed 👍😊🖖

This is absolutely awesome. I just wish that it was polyphonic.
incredible video! so much useful stuff
Jeez, I’m over here making farts, lasers and ducks sounds with my crave 😅.
Just awsome! Thank U a lot
what a great video :))) very educational thank you! would you mind adding the chapters of every instrument you played ? that'd be icing on the cake actually
WOW 😳. Now I can have even more fun. Thanks 😁
Great video! 😊thanks
Great video!

very usefull...thx mate
So I keep calling the VCF the VCO. Oh well, I try to do these in a single take with no trickery, so sometimes I say stupid things :)
Glad you cleared that up, as I was a bit confused. Was gonna go have a look at the Crave manual, lol, as I don’t have one and wasn’t sure what it would be on my synth.
Good patching

Electricity is nature so it is a natural instrument! 😂
let's clarify this one thing: synthesizers are already REAL instruments by themselves

🙏👍
A Behringer Crave IS a real instrument.
Well... Crave is a real instrument. It's better to ask can it sound lika an acoustic instrument. 😉
Yep. It was a bit tongue in cheek, however I said that because a friend said exactly that to me and so I used it. Even virtual instruments are real - unless you are a mathematician :)
Can't hear you.
Behringer are not real instruments?

Your pretty miserable
