Good idea
This is great!!!
A MD you should make a video on what food you feed all your fish for each tanks that would be cool people would have some idea of which types of food they can feed their fish. hope you receive my mesage. and i very like all your video don't stop continue making more video.
AAAHHH
THAT COMMENT CLEARS UP SO MUCH
Thought for a second you re-uploaded the video by mistake 🙈🙈😂😂
try salt water tank
Kids are so precious lol my 5 years old came bursting through the door crying yesterday because he was watching Pokémon and Ash released butterfree.
I mean, can you blame them??? It's a pretty sad episode 😂😂
@@luccalourencini1751 I cried at that episode as a kid too hahaha
thats such a sad episode
peachpanda96 can’t blame him, had me fucked up.
I still cry to this day.
My favourite quality about this youtuber is that fact that he’s incredibly skilled and committed to all his tanks but he’s also a humorous father 💙
Damn, he even has two kids as pets. Talk about commitment
😆
🤣
😆😆😆
😂
I'll stick with Fish lol
"Gotta help defeat the Riddler."
Yep, family before fishies.
True
You’re the Bob Ross of fish tanks
We are going to put a tree here and maybe another here lol
Bob Moss
Just happy accidents lol
One of the on rosses, serpa designs too, but that would be the Bob Ross of terrariums too!
nailed it 🔨😂
It's really cool how you in corporate your family I think you'll be a really fun dad and I enjoyed watching your videos
😊
Have you thought of doing one in the garden like a small pond . All of the tanks look amazing. Goldfish tank will always be number 1
Yes!
It could be a worry with small children ...
Lavender Lace and especially bc he lives in the uk, it gets too cold i think that’s why he’s not doing a outdoor pound maybe indoor in the future
Yes a garden pond😊
MySuperLife! You can have ponds in England
You need a number 1 dad award also you have one of the most informative and enjoyable aquarium channels love your work. Many videos helped my first planted tank thrive and it is still looking amazing.😃
Now I know why we can't buy any good waterplants at the local fishstore, you took them all!!!!!
the selection at my local stores are so bad LOL!
I know huh, I want to know where he got those little tubs and how much they cost, local place is to expensive for little plant
@@gottagoat
Shipping plantings could be super cheap or super expensive,
-Cheap plants on 3-5days+ is fine, some will die but it's expected
-High-end expensive plants should be overnight because they cost so much, and very condition sensitive
-It's a catch 22
-just wish local fish store would bring betters plants in.
Thank you MD now my five year is yelling "LUBRICATION" at every given opportunity hahaha! I also love the fact we never find out why Henry keeps going up, I was in tears of laughter with that. Henry you are the BEST!!! :-D
Your scaping that you describe is using 'leading lines' and 'rule of thirds'. Just so you can give it a name! Lol. Looks good!
Timmy's temporary tank setup is better than my 5-hour preparation (with full focus) aquarium setup.
It takes practice😅 (the cat in your profile picture is beautiful!)
@@petradegroot3578 aww thank you, btw the cat's dead.
me to
Love this so much step by step guide to an ecosystem aquarium! This is exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll be having some major surgery this summer and a tank like this is would be manageable. You did a beautiful job explaining and setting it up. Love it😍
You talk about plants converting to being in a tank are these plants that don't normally grow in water?
Timmy’s too cute. All your animals are so lucky they ended up with you :)
What species is Timmy?
@@nirvana155 son
I've decided to reduce the frequency of my water change from 20% WC once a week into 20% WC once per month.
Watching this video have encourages me to keep doing that.
After a month, somehow the water on my tank smells… fresh 😅 I'm not sure what to call it, but it just smells good and fresh(?). It's difficult to describe.
My only problem is now I have hair algae problem, but pretty much it can be solved by reducing the frequency of feeding (so those platies and mollies will stop being picky about food) and introduce some duckweeds.
Also, hair comb is surprisingly good to catch floating plant. Just use the handle-less comb.
I love how great of a dad you are. Your son is pretty awesome and lucky to have a dad like you.
You cracked me up, lol!! I love your little guy with the PJ and booties.
Oh I love that he allows the kids to interrupt, how could you not love the jim jams and wellies?
Know what's good for removing duckweed? A small afro pick. it scoops em up like a boss.
Facts 💯💯💯
I've got a few of those! Thank you!!!
i love the kid. Skye is 4yo and loves to pop in right in the middle of everything i'm doing!
What I really like about your scapes and video is that you do screw the rules and you say and have fun! You keep it real and fun! Cheers!
I followed because of your son. I don’t follow many people but as a single mom it’s nice to know that I can indeed have hobbies and be an attentive parent. I like the constant reminder of that while I watch videos that pertain to my hobby
Loved watching this. I don’t have time to do it myself as I have before when I was a kid. So just watching you makes me feel like when I used to do it. Thanks
Home working virtually with Covid, whipped out my old tank and am finally gonna do an ecosystem aquarium, and I'm SO glad I found your channel. Much more common sensical and do-able for me. So, thanks.
This is by far my most relatable video you’ve ever made
When you change up your tanks, could you show the entire process from how/where to store the fish, plants, substrate while you tear apart and rebuild? I'd like to know what's involved in the entire process and the time it takes so I can be sure to plan properly. I would like to tear down three 5G tanks and replace with a 30G. But I don't know if I can reuse the substrate, or how long the fish and plants can stay in a temporary storage until it's completed. It would be a very helpful video for those of us who've been too afraid to try it because of our lack of knowledge. Thanks!
C Morrison i’m not nearly as experienced as him, but in case he doesn’t respond i can share my personal experience with it. i’ve been switching my tank up a lot lately because i just got african dwarf frogs, and i find that in the 1-2 hours it takes to completely transfer a tank, the plants are fine out on my counter not in water. i put the fish back in the cups they came in from the store, but if you don’t have them still then you can buy a small travel fish carrier from petco, walmart, etc. They will be totally fine for a few hours, even longer if necessary. For my gravel i rinsed it out in a bucket until the water was clear. i reused that gravel, but i’m not sure about sand because i’ve never used it. i hope this helped a little! also if you have moss balls you can keep them on the counter for a while or put them in a cup of water and put them in the fridge for a few hours to revitalize them! they love cold water
Yes, you can reuse inert substrates like sand. Anything that hasn't broken down to mush can generally be reused. After all, sand and gravel come already "used" from nature. Nutrient-rich underlayers like dirt can theoretically be exhausted, but usually they last a long time. I've reused dirt before. If you're worried about it, add a handful of fresh dirt and mix it in; that should be enough to boost the nutrients. You can rinse your gravel/sand if you want, but plants like all that mulm, so if you're careful about not stirring up substrate during water changes, I would leave it alone.
Fish can stay in temporary storage as long as you can keep the water clean and stable. If you can, keep the fish in a tank or bucket with a filter running. If you can't do a filter, make sure you put in an airstone and do daily water changes. Lack of oxygen will kill your fish much faster than ammonia. Also, keep a lid or something over the tank or bucket to keep the fish from jumping out.
Timmy’s too cute. All your animals are so lucky they ended up with you :)
The best thing about this video is seeing that you were actually just in a shed! I've spent the last week clearing out my shed to put some tanks in and feeling somewhat inferior next to your big studio. But it's good to see even the best start in sheds. You have very strong shed game though, very fancy.
MD, the way you talk to little Henry... hell; remember it for years and he knows he's loved by his father.
A good father to the fish, to Timmy, and to Henry
Timy's accent is the best. Giving me COD vibes.
Any chance you could do a small series talking about all the plants you like using, maybe talking about what works well with each other, what's a fast/slow grower, etc. Im new and want to learn what plants I can mix to keep a healthy tank without mimicking your build exactly.
Ure son is adorable 🥰 it’s awesome that u will stop what ure doing just to help ure son with a video game.... what a great dad!!! Also great content keep up the great work!
So beautiful and so calming even with that pesky paper towel intruder...your boys are so stinkin cute, I love to see them pop in, lucky dad and kids...thanks
2:38 Your son is like "u wut m8"
I like how mellow your recent vids are but not hating how hyper and erratic you were back in these older vids. It’s entertaining as hell. Lol
Yes! Do the quarantine fish buy! I just got back in the hobby mid quarantine and it's been a roller-coaster! Even had a new fish bring ick into my tank! Lost so many fish but my angels and 1 cory made it!
Yup. In my top 3 favourite aquascaping channels!
I appreciate the fact that you’re dedicated to aquascaping I’ve learned so much from watching your videos and that’s how I learn is by visually seeing and then implementing my own way that works for me
I can tell you're super passionate and love your aquariums / fishies :) I just set up my first tank ever (currently cycling it on week 2 - no plants/livestock yet) and I can't WAIT to get going!
Between his accent and eyes... omg I had to watch the video 5 times! Loved it!!!
Love you putting this together for us... And I absolutely love Henry's appearance in the video... He is too cute.. they are all beautiful Mr. MD and Mrs.MD♥️ I didn't catch your video early because I dragged my husband out at 7 a.m. because we found a 33-gallon lowboy tank with everything and plants on Facebook... I knew you would approve so we went and got it 😁 now I have to go through your videos to see what I'm going to do with it!!! Oh yeah, and I love you Timmy! ♥️ Thanks for always inspiring us..👍♥️🐟🌱🌿😁🙏
What an exciting day!
great for anyone with little time to spare, or couch potatoes, should look amazing when it’s grown out of the tank
That was really fun to watch and your kids are great, too.
I’m a newbi thank you for your efforts, really appreciate it, cos of your enthusiasm I’m bloody addicted now, will def be looking at more of your vids then getting a tank, not looked yet, have you make underwater waterfalls yet? I could watch your vids for hours........ I didddddddd lol 😂 cheers buddy. Lee S Wales . I love the way you keep your mistakes in, makes it more honest, and fun. 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🤜🤛👍
Ditto everything you just said.
yessss haha
So I work from home and you're videos are sooo nice to leave playing in the background!
If you use a little plastic cup like what your plants came in and pierce the bottom with small holes to let out water it does a decent job at being a duckweed scoop.
**REALLY GOOD FOR THE EYES TO SEE THAT**
Witchcraft
3 minutes in and I'm obsessed. You have great personality and are charismatic.
MD: Where's my shrimp net?!
Mrs MD: Where's my dinner plate?!
:D
hahahaha yeah
The proof is in the pudding and you've got some beautiful flourishing tanks. I struggle with plants and I recently realized that I literally gravel vacuumed them to death. Great videos.
just learned the other day that CA glue is absolutely perfect for hardscapes :P
and that when CA glue comes in contact with water it becomes completely inert, might be easier and faster to use than the silicone.
My husband is gonna be so mad at me started with a nano tank haven’t got all the stuff I need but since tanks are on sale I’ve literally bought 2 more tanks which. I’m keeping hidden lol I think i have a problem already hip to keep one as plant tank. Don’t judge me
2:40 still makes me laugh, his reaction is simply priceless.
Md: we want to have fun. Screw rules!
Md 10 secs later: so as you can see, we have some diagonals...
Definitely your longest Vlog not complaining though. Always fun and interesting content I especially loved the special guest appearances from Henry😄
KRATOS finally found peace within himself doing mindfulness aquascaping
Great idea love you way you talk us through your design .The only thing i'm surprised at ...no heater am i correct? .
Use a barber hair pick to remove & add your floating plants. It'll make things super easy
I only had a little idea to plant up an empty Biorb I have. I found this channel and now I want a bzillion tanks! I seem to have fallen down a big, wet, planted rabbit hole.
I love your fun attitude and that you are such a good daddy to your little boy. Not even to mention all the great information! Thank you!
I clicked the video for the ecosystem aquarium info. I subbed for the father son interaction.
Little man's outfit was siiick but my god dad if looks could kill 😂😂😂 luv your content
When you said you could suspend the tank with water and it would still be strong enough. Not gonna lie that threw me through a loop. Didn't realize just how strong that silicone was.
You are honestly a riot! I love ur genuine love for ur hobby! Timmy looks incredible and ur temp home for him looks great
I screamed so loud when I realised it was a 50 min video then I read the title ... enjoyed the video anyways 👍
Great video, I was expecting a Walstad type setup but it’s interesting to see an alternative type of ecosystem tank. Also, I love how you continue to make dad jokes even when your kids aren’t around.
A hair pick is awesome for picking up duck weed and surface plants... and easier than a net
Yes, navigating stores in quarantine I'd like to see.
I’ve lost track of how many times you’ve cracked me up laughing watching this, while at the same time being taught so many new things about all the beautiful plants you can use!
I actually like the temporary tank for Timmy. The one with 2 lights. It is quarky.
I use an 'onion holder' to scoop up my floating plants :) works great for me.
Your "studio" is bigger then my room. 🤣 And I will have 5 55 gallon tanks in there soon. Oh dear.
I'm going to do my tank soon buying 1 more tomorrow. Thanks for tips on augrau tank all yours are beautiful.
the first video I have watched and while you are great, that little boy stole the show!! I love seeing a guy that is family-oriented!
"Do we jump on the sofa though?" Love your videos, man. :)
love these hour-long set up videos soo much
Another fantastic scape. It looks really good! :-)
Love when you try to pronounce the names of plants and then choose to mumble or make your own names ;-)
For removing water lettice and what not, try using a comb or fork :) works quite well for me.
Very visually inspiring.
I love watching you create these neat scapes. Beautiful.
Get a small kitchen sifter. Works well on shrimp too as it is stiff. Lovely ecosystem.
I Love your videos ! And Timmy is so cute 🐢🌸
This video was vary informative and you seem to be a good dad so keep up the videos, thank you.
For just one second at 27:22 I thought you were using a torch burner and it was strange to see the water sprayer for what it was finally.
Lines and patterns naturally pleasing to the eye a lot of this stuff is principles of design. You definitely have a creative mind!
You could make an awesome paludarium for some kind of tropical frog that’s would be wicked with your exo-terras that you have. Nice video.
The video was amazing, and so is the tank, I love your ecosystem tanks, I can't wait to see how it grows and progresses over time, and I can't wait to make my own.
I appreciate it A lot of people are not into the hobby
A nit comb works really well for removing duckweed
I'm so happy to see you with the aquariums and the kids. We have two little boys and we are a bit worried for them to bump in to the aquarium. So we are still figuring out if there is something to lock it to the wall haha
You are such a good entertainer every video makes me chuckle in a good way
Just found your channel and watching alot of your videos... its nice to have someone from the UK! Im just setting up my 2nd aquarium for my Tetraodon Schoutedeni and the inspiration I'm getting from you is fab!!! Thanks so much!! Your son is brill!! 🥰
But I have always watched your videos and thought to myself "He seems like the kind of guy that always knows where everything is! Need a tool? There it is! I guess that was all just movie magic. Love you videos! Thank you for sharing! Cherri-O! - Little Bobby
You're awesome. Please keep up the work. Don't doubt yourself; be who you are. That's why you have hundreds of thousands of followers. I'm working on getting an aquarium again after having one as a kid, and I'm stoked to have found a RUclipsr with a channel as esthetically pleasing as yours!
Dude sometimes you're hilarious you didn't put a mat down but you said unless you're putting your tank down on a rock you should be alright. As soon as you said that i lost it. Fricken funny. Love you're vids brother. Cheers mate as you say!
Awesome loved this video my no water change tank with pearl gourami has been going for 6 months now with no water changes and is doing good... although it needs a tidy up and is starting to get a tad overgrown as the plants are doing too well 😂
It's a long video, but I enjoy it very much. Thanks.
best channel...this guy has blown my mind away..so many new ideas. thank you so much friend
Not sure how I missed this one! MD your so funny wish there was more people like you around the world would be so much nicer. Henry so awesome too 🙂
Thumbs up for being such a kind dad. Oh and I love your videos too! Keep them coming!
Man. I love watching your videos and how you teach with simplicity. Great "ART" my friend. Keep up with the awesome job!💯👍👍
So this has just reassured me that I don’t need loads of charcoal under the gravel. 👍🏼 I’m literally just starting out with my first ecosystem (very small) and I’m planning on it looking as natural as possible inc maybe some sticklebacks and minnows from the local stream. I’m also considering some snails and would like to maybe add other things but not sure what. I’ve opted for a small pump just to push a bit of water around and a couple of led lamps for lighting. Will the led’s be sufficient or will I need uv lights.. grateful for any info. Great vid. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼
