    That is true about not being able to see a "good picture" you do a video on the subject.

    Brilliant video and location mate! Bamburgh is somewhere i've always wanted to visit (seen so many photos of the castle from the beach) and it's nice that you shared some of the lesser-photographed aspects of that location! Was really interesting! 👌🏻 Also, i'm totally with you pal.... roll on winter! 😅

    Love Banburgh Castle. Great compositions, tips and editing. Particularly liked the shot of the castle with the hut in the foreground and the one taken through the "sort of stone structure monument type situation" or as English Heritage would have it, the grade II listed Pant and Trough. Every day a school day 😊

    Indeed - learning to see. I once managed to let some crook steal my camera, I think it was 1987 in Glasgow, while on InterRail. The following weeks after that, wherever I went I saw motives here and there and everywhere, saying "I would have taken a picture of that, if I still had a camera!" But when I had finally scraped together enough money to get a new camera, I had lost the skill to "see" and find things worth taking pictures of, and had to relearn that. Hard lesson...

    • @DISTANTMEDIA
      @DISTANTMEDIA  2 месяца назад

      @@derCrummel a bad experience that turned into valuable knowledge right there! Sucks about the stolen camera though. But you’re right it’s most definitely an actual skill. You notice it more when you’re without a camera, like you say, seeing pictures in everything. I’m almost certain it must be linked to ‘pareidolia’ or some kind of visual sense haha!

      @@DISTANTMEDIA The worst thing was the loss off all the exposed film rolls, not the Ricoh XR-X. And the next camera was a Nikon F-801, so really a step up.

    Hi Greg! As soon as I realised where you were it brought a smile to my face! 😊😊The reason being that the first and only time I've 'tried' to visit Bamburgh Castle, it absolutely chucked it down and we didn't even make it to the Castle before we had to turn back! I'm not joking, on this particular day the rain was actually coming down SIDEWAYS! 🤣🤣We got drenched just walking from the car to the Castle, well halfway to the Castle actually!

      Hey mate! - hahaah 😂classic! That sounds all too familiar having lived in the North for 6 years now! - Funnily enough I think Bamburgh may be one of the few places I have not yet been caught in the rain. Hope you can make it back there on a nice sunny day in the future as it has so much to offer!

    Great photos, great editing and well made script mate. I just have one pet peeve.... holding the microphone for no absolute reason. It has a clip for a reason 😅🤣 Also I'm agreeing with Paul's answer earlier about the "pause icon", but I also saw your reply to him 🙂 Subbed!

      @@jimmywestphoto thanks a lot appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed the video. Very valid reason for holding the microphone, heavy wind noise and oceans sounds. The closer it is to your mouth the more noise reduction is applied. You sure as hell don’t want to listen to my talk without hearing a word I say! 🤣🤣

      @@jimmywestphoto hahahahaha very sorry to admit I do that sometimes too, you just get better audio all round, especially from these little wireless ones everybody is using now days (they even pick up static from the camera when it’s not close to your mouth). Effective post, theme, commentary and graphics. IMO “pause” icon not needed - redundant w/frame freeze and might tempt new viewers to think it was a YT pause (ok, or not 😊 but suggest not using it in future.)
    We all see the world differently and while “seeing a composition” (also “seeing” light and shadow) is a requisite skill, it’s acquired by training and practice. Some folks catch on quickly and some don’t. Two photographers side by side at the same location can come away w/quite different images - might make a good vid.
    Second beach scene a plus - layers, diagonal, and several textures. Cheers!

      @@paulm8157 Cheers Paul! Wasn’t a fan of the pause icon after export myself but didn’t want to look at my computer any longer! 😂 (away for a few days now so just glad I got the video finished!) - very good idea for a video! I’ll have to befriend a photographer who’s okay with being on camera first though haha, hopefully RUclips brings such connections in my area eventually! Cheers have a good weekend ahead!
