    Finally! I have found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow..(pun intended). I’ve searched for 35 years for someone to actually teach this song..taught with simplified phrases AND tab. My Lord, this lesson is so outrageously fantastic that It feels like I just won the 100 million dollar lottery..Marcos, from my heart..Thank you, dude~

    I'm a massive Ritchie Blackmore fan and this is as accurate to the Machine Head album version as you can get. Very patient and well explained, not rushed. Excellent feel as well in your playing.

    Wow. Appreciate the huge amount of work that went into making this video Tutarras.
    I'd worked out the main solo many years ago (way before You Tube and tabs of everything were available), but there were quite a few nuances that I had mis-heard which I immediately realised when I watched this video. I feel inspired to relearn the whole thing, using this video.
    Incidentally, the second half of the main solo I had learned in 1st position, meaning the open strings can be used for a lot of the passing notes. It works, but I never thought to play it up the neck like you do. I wonder how Blackmore played it?

    Great lesson well constructed and taught. Blackmore is a legend and your lesson shows his brilliance.I truly feel studying this piece also makes someone a better guitar player as well .Im a bit puzz;led with the thumbs down on this vid ..maybe from Deathcore or metalcore grindcore players who think their licks are superior to pentatonic blues mastery.Blackmore kills them.

    Thanks for all the work, but almost 1.5 hours for a lesson? I know it's a tough song, but now I'm scared to try! Also standard fret markers would help to see where he's at better. ?

  • @andonakis5741
    @andonakis5741 3 года назад

    Fernando I don’t know why you would start the intro on D6 A8 when it’s easier to start it on the G1 D3 . Then instead of E8 A6/A8 you can do A3 D1/D3. It’s easier when setting up for the next part .

    Great lesson , any one with tips on a pedal to use for sound sustain, Setup ?

    • @FernandoLobo
      @FernandoLobo 3 года назад +1

      well, the sustain its always an issue. If your guitar is a crappy guitar, you get less sustain. If your action is too too low, you get less sustain because the string cannot vibrate freely.
      Also, compression gives you sustain. That is why when you add a distortion pedal, you get more sustain, so maybe adding overdrives or even distortion will give you more sustain.
      Another way to cheat, is with a compressor pedal in the front of your rig, the compression will squash your signal and give you more sustain.
      Now if you really really want natural sustain, get a good guitar and a good amp. If you already own a good guitar, maybe the design of that guitar doesn't give you sustain, les Pauls or SET IN necks give you natural sustain,. ( les pauls, prs, schecters hellrisers and so on )
      A good guitar brand, with cheap and middle quality guitars , are the schecters,....every single schecter I've tried has an excellent sustain.
      So there you go, better gear, turn up the gain, or add a compressor right after your guitar.
      CHEERS!!

    This is an impressive piece of work, but it's SO detailed, and I am not an advanced player. I have a few suggestions - one, a plain background, just a plain wall or sheet up, no distractions, a guitar with simple dot markers, and a lesson for simpletons like me, with easier chords and a minimum of bends, pull -offs, etc. But I congratulate your ability!

    • @Dogboy1960
      @Dogboy1960 3 года назад +1

      Non-sense. I've played this song for more than 40 years. Figured it out the HARD WAY by beating the crap out of what must have been no less than 5 or 6 copies of Machine Head, lifting and dropping the needle on a Record player and back and forth with the fast forward and Rewind features on a cassette player. I've played this one all over the fret board looking for the tones I like best from the VERY MANY ways in which Ritchie played it. There is no one way except for that original recording on Machine Head. We can't see what he did for sure on that one. His live recordings, video taped are another story entirely and here you can find him playing it entirely differently in each different taping. I really doubt he ever chose to view that original studio recording as anything more than just a 12 bar template of blues in "F" then, "G" and finally in "A". The only consistent thing he ever does is return to that basic lick that ties the whole thing together and makes it recognizable as "lazy". All solos and licks are subject to his whims at the time. Nothing is/was ever consistent. The guy just doesn't and didn't ever play like that. The difference between a GREAT version and a less inspired version probably boils down to nothing more than his well documented moody temperament on the day it was recorded.
