Thanks for the video. Though the definition of "Abandoned" here is pretty inconsistent. Abandoned includes: Museums A town with a population of over 2000 An operating rail-line
Interesting, but It would be nice to hear where all of these places are. Some had some large sums of funny names. Plus, are those guys on that island really fishermen if "they live off the LAND"?
At about 3:42 into the video, Cairo, Illinois, this video doesn't tell the complete story of Cairo's demise. Pronounced "KAY-RO", in the 1960's the town was the site of race riots, as occurred in many other cities across the US, and many of the businesses, much of the town was burned. I recall driving through the town for the first time in 1999 when I was on a reconnaissance mission developing a Chicago to New Orleans fiber optic communications cable facilities on the Illinois Central Railroad right of way, part of a nationwide network of communications facilities. Not previously knowing the history of the place, there were burned out buildings frozen in time all along both sides of the main street, the extreme poverty was obvious, economic opportunity had long since left. The few citizens remaining were all staring at me, a white boy in a new Toyota pickup, as I passed by. I felt like this is a place I am certainly not welcome, of course, I was a stranger in their town, they had every right to be suspicious. There is much unfortunate history here and I felt sorry for those that remained but supposed that to many of them it was 'home' and they wouldn't have left if they had an opportunity to do so. Most surprisingly, exiting town to the east I passed over the Ohio river, slightly north of where the Ohio and Mississippi converge, and drove about a mile or so south into a lovely little rural town call Wickliffe, Kentucky, scoping the place out as I had to meet with the city manager and city attorney a couple of days later, where, as part of the initial pleasantries before we got down to business they told me about the history of the area.
Peter Piper and the I phone and is a good day to be the r we are all going on with my a e I have a great day to be a good day for me the most happiest person in my life and is a great way of the year of high school football game and the only thing uI and the other hand
Great video just one recommendation. When you name some of the locations you didn't mention what country that they are in. Kind of confusing especially because you have viewers in all different countries.
haha it's "50,000 people used to live here - now it's a ghost town". The amount of times I heard that intro on cod4 made me look up Pripryat and realise the scenery in the game is pretty accurate, down to the Ferris wheel and empty swimming pool! And the population was also 50,000 prior to evacuation.
Didn't mean to sound like an ass. I was aware, hence the "sort of." But yes, I did the same thing you did after launching COD4 countless times back in 2007. To this day I am still fascinated.
In Pripyat it wasn't evacuated about 2 days after the disaster because no one knew about it except the workers. The senior members of the Soviet Union wasn't told accurate information, they were only told there was an accident and a fire nothing major.
I first heard about what happened to Chernobyl in Top Gear a couple of years ago. If anyone's seen the one where they have to run out of fuel before they get there, Jeremy and James end up going in and you can see what's happened to it there.
Hanford Nuclear reservation in Washington state had 90k people, first plant to produce weapon grade plutonium. 1943 only thing left is a church and concrete slabs.
7:15 Ukrainian SSR???? WTF? The Ukrainian Soviet Republic? You are about 25 years out of date with that one. Ukraine became officially independent in 1991.

The people who lived in Pripyat continued to stay there after the reactor blew for 5 days until they were evacuated, the only people who left the next day were some of the higher ups in the USSR who were in the area for political conference they were evacuated to kiev
Eastern state penitentiary (ESP)was the most expensive and largest prison when it was built. It was never A religious prison. It’s used for Haunted house for Halloween and you could tour for $30 year round
I just saw the coolest freakin commercial that I've ever seen in a long time before this video. By Morton Salt. Dam. I wish I could play it again or would have recorded it. THAT was cool.
Chernobyl wasn't evacuated for at least 3 days and since each of the buildings at Fukushima that blew up had 6 storage pools for used radioactive rods, the actual meltdowns was more like 21 and no one can work on the site without dying. Not a great list.
I was enjoying this video until it got to the relocated Chagos Islanders, no offence but it's always Americans that pronounce things terribly. In truth however Diego Garcia was actually a British base until after World War II when it was taken over by the Americans, so it was actually the British that moved the islanders, hence why they ended up on Mauritius and the Seychelles, they were also British colonies.
It isn't Kigh-row, Illinois - it's pronounced Kerr-ow. Kigh-row is in Egypt, and seriously the town's founders named it this way to distinguish the two.
3 melted reactors with hydrogen explosions evacuation of over 450 thousand and they had Plutonium MOX Fuel Reactors 1 million times more deadly than Chernobyl . Chernobyl is not in contact with ground water or any Ocean like Fukushima. Chernobyl had 50 thousand evacuation and was a uranium reactor not Plutonium like Fukushima Fukushima is a planetary extinction level event that is sterilizing the Pacific and will never be contained so how is Chernobyl consider worst nuclear disaster
Sorry but Chernobyl was contained in under 30 days And Fukushima is still UN-contained and dumping 150 million gallons of radioactive water into the Pacific every day that's Just The facts they admit Your A FOOL !!
You've no idea what a planetary extinction level event is and your idea of what constitutes worse is pretty poor as well else you'd understand why Chernobyl was worse, both in cost in lives and in property.
sachin amarath Someone else pointed out that he doesn't know how to pronounce Namibia either. I wonder if he can pronounce the name of the state he's from?
FYI: the ship you see at 3:56 is the TSS Earnslaw Steamship in Queenstown New Zealand, not in the US. lol. www.realjourneys.co.nz/en/experiences/cruises/tss-earnslaw-steamship-cruises/

Great efforts
Love it when no effort is put into pronouncing names properly. Well done.
ciaro ill is nothing like centralia pen, as of 2014 it only has 7 residents, it inspired the game series Silent Hill
Interesting, but It would be nice to hear where all of these places are. Some had some large sums of funny names. Plus, are those guys on that island really fishermen if "they live off the LAND"?
Cool video
Who would say these places are abandoned?! Some of them are really attractive.
What's the background music in "the tunnel of love and Kulmanskop"? starting in 2:38
The SS America is in Tenerefe. It's completely underwater now. I saw it once when it was an active ship in 1978.
It was closer to Fuerteventura rather than Tenerife
Ahh Pripyat. A true slav's dream vacation.

Hanford Nuclear reservation in Washington state had 90k people, first plant to produce weapon grade plutonium. 1943 only thing left is a church and concrete slabs.
#6. B-307 is not in Samara. The city called Togliatti and museum called "Andrei Sakharov Museum of Technology"

7:15 Ukrainian SSR???? WTF? The Ukrainian Soviet Republic? You are about 25 years out of date with that one. Ukraine became officially independent in 1991.

Fanatic that's because it is 😀
Why would there be a shot of the TSS Earnslaw at 4.00? It sails in New Zealand.

I just saw the coolest freakin commercial that I've ever seen in a long time before this video. By Morton Salt. Dam. I wish I could play it again or would have recorded it. THAT was cool.
Searching for it now
The ss American Star has, for a few years now, been fully claimed by the sea and collapsed. most photos you see of her are from 2004.
I live like 20 minutes away from Cairo and it's creepy AF
I love how you pronounce Kolmanskop and Namib!😂😂
You definitely have never heard of these places before!😂😂😂
EASTERN STATE PENITENTIARY?! Just heard that name made my feet cold.
Just visited it. Sooooo creepy
The wreck of the SS American Star has been entirely gone and consumed by the sea since 2007.
50,000 people used to live here now it's just a ghost town

You missed ,"Long Wang"..very sad..
if number 7 has a population of 2,000 then technically its not abandoned lol
i love the music at 6 min
what is it?
Seychelles is pronounced {Say Shells} not {Say Chel Less}
Maybe you should look it up ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seychelles
Just wait for the Pontiac Silverdome
Too late. Completely demolished.
"Daiichi" and "penitentiary" were kinda goofy, too.
Your Outro scared the shit out of me

It isn't Kigh-row, Illinois - it's pronounced Kerr-ow. Kigh-row is in Egypt, and seriously the town's founders named it this way to distinguish the two.
Can you go to Shengsheng Island or is it illegal? i would like to go there
Please, if you wish to call yourself an announcer/narrator, learn how to pronounce the words!

Re-upload?
Pity he's never heard of "Battleship Island".
FYI: The S.S. America collapsed into the ocean a while ago I believe. I remember seeing a video about how the sea had claimed it fully.
in the description why do you only list 8 of the 13 places....
50,000 people used to live.now it's ghost town
Wait, you have 630K subscribers and you miss 1K views per hour?!? How can that be?
What was the song being played in the video?
3:42 It's pronounced kay-ro. I know - silly midwesterners :)
i feel so smart that I knew that was Al Capone's cell before he said his name
moridious or checheles sound ligit (Mauritius and shechelles)
sachin amarath And it is Seychelles...
I made a similar comment as well. If he can't learn how to pronounce the names correctly, maybe he should go in for a different line of work.
Lol
sachin amarath Someone else pointed out that he doesn't know how to pronounce Namibia either. I wonder if he can pronounce the name of the state he's from?
sachin amarath And also, he thinks that Ukraine is still part of the Soviet Union. (which, btw. disbanded a quarter of a century ago. )
Has anyone noticed that there was a figure in one of the buildings at 6:18
