Sorry about that. I have two methods of keeping them warm the incubator which I also use to hatch the eggs and if im on the go I use a baby wipe warmer. I baught mines at walmart.
After the chick hatches I keep the incubator or baby wipe warmer between 32°C to 35°C. Then drop to around 30°C at about 10 days old. By the time the bird is half feathered the temperature can go down to 26°C to 28°C. Humidity is kept at around 50%

Hi Paradise Aviary, Do you feed the babies immediately after they hatch? Or do you wait for certain hours later then you start feeding them? How long do we wait? As there are people saying that newly hatch babies need to digest their egg sac before we feed them, otherwise we will have problem with the babies digesting our formula. Thanks and waiting for your kind reply.
Can you do a video about how exactly you use the wipe warmer? I have pet birds, I keep hand feeding formula just in case at one point I have an abandoned chick. I'd like to have something on hand to keep them warm as well, but I wouldn't want to spend much on some special bird equipment for a rare scenario.
I completely understand. Yes I plan on making one soon part 2 of this video were I go into details on how to use the incubator, baby wipe warmer, correct temperatures and humidity levels needed to keep the chicks alive. Its important to be prepared for situations like this and it doesnt have to take alot of money since baby wipe warmers are cheap
There are other brands of feeding formula on the market that are very good. I only use this one because its localy sold here and easy to get. For wild birds yes ive seen many who have fed either wet mashed up dog food or kitten food and this helps, but this wont work for all species so its best to find a commercial formula thats well rounded with all the vitamins and minerals the bird will need to grow properly
Hi Charlz I use a cheap chinese incubator but has been working great for me. Its a Janoel 24 egg incubator. The eggs need 37.5°C in order to hatch with humidity levels between 60-70%. I plan on making a video soon where I go into details on how to properly set up the incubator and how to also use the baby wipe warmer after chicks hatch to keep then warm.
@@MasterCharlz-Shooter ok. I have no idea how you could find one over ther but im sure there has to be a place that sells them. The one I ordered on ebay came from china. Maybe you can look online and order one also.
How do you do this while you have other daily responsibilities?? I want to do this myself but how do you work around chores and work?? Please answer and thank you.
Hi Beanie. I only had to hand feed for about a week thats only because I fostered these chicks under societies, but when you hand feed you have to feed them the kaytee untill the birds are eating on their own usually depending on the species that would be when they are 40-50 days old or so. Around the 25-30day mark I usually start to offer the chicks seeds and egg food so they can start getting used to eating on their own.
Do you recommend force feeding if it doesn't want to eat? My canary couple had 3 eggs, only one hatched. Neither the mom or dad were feeding it so we hand fed it. (It hatched last Monday) However, earlier this evening it wouldn't open its mouth to eat anymore 😔 and it doesn't have any food in its crop.
Hi Susan personally I have force feed some birds (old and young) in the past to keep them alive, but you have to be extremely carefull when doing this and make sure you go down into the crop otherwise the bird can aspirate and die. Has the chick been eating fine before this ? What are you feeding ? And do you have a heat source to keep it warm ?
im not sure if this is correct because i am currently raising eggs in a incubator but i heard they could get ammonia from to much water...please correct me if im wrong i just got confused from how much water you put in the mix thanks!
I have a really serious question, how do you feed them without getting it in their windpipe “hole” I’m new to this and am rescuing a baby bird. He looks about 1 week old, should I feed him more solid food or keep to the really liquidy stuff?
If you want to avoid the baby bird from aspirating the best way to feed would be with a flathead toothpick. Since hes a week old or so you make the same mix but thicker scoop some up with the flathead toothpick and when the chick beg put it in his mouth. The bird will extend its head and neck up and swallow the food. This method is safer than the sirynge but its slower. If you want to try with the sirynge its the same way once the chick begs put the tip near the mouth. The baby bird will sense this and extend its head up swallowing the tip of the sirynge them slowly push the plunger giving the baby bird a little bit. Pull out and repeat again. Only feed small amounts at a time.
Hey how do you use a baby wipe warmer for the hatched baby ? I have a baby parakeet and the mother isn’t taking care of her baby or eggs I need a plan B can you pliz help me
The baby wipe warmer will have a constant temp that should be around 96-98°F. This will be enough to keep the newly hatched chick alive and well. The main thing to keep and eye on when using the baby wipe warmer is the humidity. You need to put a small cup in there with water and use a humidity reader and always keep it between 40-50%. To much or too little humidity could kill the newly hatched bird. So as long as you baby wipe warmer can keep a good temp of 96-98° and humidity is monitered 40-50% the baby bird will be fine
I plan on doing part 2 of this video were I go a little more into detail on how to properly use the incubator and baby wipe warmer, temperatures, humidity and how to monitor these to be succesfull
Most human baby formulas have milk listed in the ingredients if im not mistaken. Birds should never get fed with milk. Depending on the species of bird they will need a grain, insect, fruit, or nectar diet.
I found some new borns in a wall I was drywalling and there was no mother I had to close it up and I took them home to see if I could save them. So do I feed them water the same way? I boiled and egg and mixed the cooked yolk with water to make it a bit soupy but I don't know if it's enough water. Or do I feed them water alone as well?
Is it safe to put the leftover in the fridge and use it for the next feeding schedule? Then heating it before feeding but making sure it’s not too hot?
I usually just make small amounts each time. I dont think it would go bad atleast not if used the same day. Just make sure you heat up in a cup over hot water and not in the microwave. Stir it well and test to make sure you dont have any hot spots that could burn the chick when feedin them.
Congratulations for what you are doing. It is fabulous. Could you please post here the link to the video where you are explaining how you handle the temperature using the brooder. Jungle babblers eat a wide range of invertebrates, mainly insects, including hymenopterans (ants, wasps, ichneumon flies), beetles (Coleoptera), grasshoppers and other insects. They will also eat grain, nectar and berries. Try to find a hand feeding formula to give the chick. If you cannot find one I would make my own at home with some grain and insects.
can you give this kaytee formula to a wild bird? I have found an abandoned egg, i am currently incubating it but i am curious what to feed it and how to feed it when it does hatch. recommendations? & tips appreciated
Hi Thalia Ive used kaytee formula for a couple different species of wild birds it works very well depending on the species of bird. Do you know what bird the egg belongs too ?
Paradise Aviary i am not sure it is a little bigger than a dime and it’s white with faded brown speckles. i looked up some it’s hard to tell but i’m thinking could be a type of finch or wren
could be house finch, wren, or few other species I guess we will know once it hatches. What type of incubator are you using ? If its home made just make sure to keep the temp and humidity at the right levels and also turn the egg atleast twice a day so the embryo doesnt stick. After 4 days you can candle the egg and check for fertility.
Paradise Aviary I have an incubator we have used for chicken eggs in the passed, i’m turning it 3 times a day and i’ve candled it and i’ve seen movement

Heyy there , I’m Valentine and I have a pair of masked lovebirds both are at the age of 1 year And I’ve got some questions but before I’ll start I want to say that they’re were never been hand feeded and they’re still scared of me even if it’s been a month since I bought them home So the first question is about chicks and they’re stages After I’ll make a nest box fo them and few days an egg is there and I want to hand feed him , should I separate him from his parents ? And the second question is , after I hand feeding him , should I put him back in the nest box or just make him a warm place ? Thank you
Hi Valentine. Its natural for them to be scared like that and fly away from you. Depends what you want to do personally I just let the parents feed but if you want a lovebird that is not afraid you will have to handfeed it yourself. I would remove it from the parents (4-6 days) after it hatches. The bigger they are the easier it will be for you to hand feed. Once you take the chick away from the nest you cant place it back because most parents will not accept the chick again and may stop feeding. Hope this helps
Paradise Aviary Oh..I would have one more question I think and that is , I can still do something to create a friendship betweet me and my pair of lovebirds ? Even if they’re scared of me and when I put my finger near their cage or when I try to put my hand full of seeds throught their cage , they’re just jumping around the corners of the cage , what can I do ? But also Thank you so much , you help me a lot with your answers for my questions Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Your welcome. You can tame them but this process can take a very very long time. And while you do this they will not breed ( if you want them to breed they will need a lot of privacy). In the past when ive wanted to tame a bird what ive done is put them in a cage alone and place them close to the ground in a place where there is a lot of people all the time. Over the course of a year youll notice the bird will become accustomed to people and they will calm down.
Paradise Aviary I’ve never heard or saw those type of answers even if I made a reseach about it . Thank you so much Since I bought them home a month ago I set up the cage’s place on a small table in my bedroom and it’s like the level of the bed and sometimes when it’s sunny I move the cage in the bed , next to the window , is it a good idea ? That means that I should leave them alone for a while like few hours for their privacy ? Sorry for all my questions but I’m a begginer I can say , I don’t know much about lovebirds breeding If they’re were never being hand feeded , can I let them flying around the room to get used to it ? Thank you so much for all your help and keep up the good work You’ve got a new subscriber 🙏🏻
No problem yes having them in the bedroom with you will get them use to you and putting them next to the window for sunlight is very good. Birds need sunlight. If you want them to breed they will need a bigger cage with a nest and some privacy, but if you just want to tame them you can leave them there with you. Just be very carefull personally I wouldnt let them loose in the room now they are too wild and will fly around fast trying to escaoe and can hurt themselves if they fly into the window. Just be patient give it some time and try to get them use to seen you while they are in the cage. Hope this helps
Paradise Aviary thanks! But I have another question! Where do you get the tube,And how do you see what your doing? Do you magnet fine them? Edit:I like your vids

@@paradiseaviary thank you so much! So a baby wipe warmer and a thermometer and humidity gauge, and a small wooden box should be good for the hatchlings correct?
very true sorry forgot about that, just make sure the box wood is not to thick so it allows the heat to travel upwards and keep the chicks warm. I use a very thin plastic container.
Hi Lindsey the formula is mixed with water so they get all the moisture they need to digest it from that mix. The best thing to do is find this formula or any other brand some species of birds are not insectivorious so giving them bugs might not help. It all depends on the species of birds you plan on handfeeding.
Ive used this same kayte exact formula on wild birds so it will work its one of the best all around formulas ive found on the market. Eastern blue birds are very insectivorous so you can also feed them crushed mealworms just make sure that you take the heads of the mealworms before you feed them.
I buy the feeding formula (exact kaytee) and dental syringe at a pet store near me, but you can buy both of the items on amazon or other places online Feeding formula : www.amazon.com/s?k=exact+kaytee+hand+feeding&ref=is_s Dental syringe: www.amazon.com/s?k=dental+syringe&sprefix=dental+syringe&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_14
If you cant find a comercial hand feeding formula like this one you can always make a homemade hand feeding formula. All depends on the type of species you are trying to feed

Hey, any specific advice on tailor bird egg hatching? We did some bush clearing at the workplace, and a nest fell off. Little light blue eggs in a nest in a large leaf with its sides sewn together. Unfortunately the person who was doing the work, brought the nest back home to me, and i don't think keeping it back now would be a good idea, considering the area has been cleared of bushes and necessary cover . I got it just yesterday. Been trying to keep the eggs warm since then, but I'm really lost with what to do.
My bird doesn't want to eat. I see it's stomach or whatever it's called is not full and that's why i know when it's hungry. It doesn't open its mouth and is so hard to feed it. Do you have any tips? And by the way the bird is almost 2 weeks old and it is a cockatiel.
My finches dont feed their newly hatched baby. I was wondering if i hand feed the baby after feeding where will i keep the baby? Should i return the baby to the parents? Or keep somewhere else??? Just now 1 egg hatched. So its an emergency for me now.
Hi Siam. Some of my finches dont feed the newly hatched chick on day 1. Newly hatched chicks can survive 24hrs without food because they are full from the egg yolk that their body absorved right before hatching. Maybe they will feed later today or tommorrow morning, but if you dont see food in the crop you can take the baby bird out and try to hand feed it the same way i did in this video. Depending on the species of finch you may be able to return the chick back after handfeeding, but you have to be carefull some species dont tolerate that and will abandon the chick so you must have a source of heat available to keep the baby bird warm incase they dont accept it back. What species of finch is it ?
@@siamsifa4164 society finches are very good parents they are actually used as foster parents for other species of finches because of that. Hopefully they been feeding. Sometimes its just hard to see the food in the babies crop because they are so small. Wish you the best!

I found it outside on my lawn and couldn’t find the nest or any birds around to see if they might be the parents but I have it at the moment and I’m trying to nurse it. If you can please get back to me when you can. I appreciate it 🥺
Yes this handfeeding formula also works for wild bird species. Finding baby birds outside this time of year is common. Sometimes the chicks fledge the nest before they are ready to fly this is normal. It may look like they are abandoned but usually the parents are close by watching.
Paradise Aviary thank you! I appreciate you getting back to me. I think this one is called a Nestling because it didn’t really have any feathers at all and when I found it it was struggling to move and there was ants all over it trying to eat. Hello! I have an egg of cockatoo that is expected to hatch in a few days, and I was wondering when we can start feeding the newborn baby bird. Some say wait until 8-10 hours after, but some say feed them immediately...? What do you recommend? Thank you!!
This one is a bit tougher than finches so I had to ask a friend that breeds parrots. He told me he waits until the newly hatch chick deficates for the 1st time and then feeds them with an electrolite solution and thin feeding formula. Unless the chicks hatch over night then he feeds at 6 a.m. 8-10 hours is to long to wait and by then the chick could get to weak. Hope this helps

One of my 4 chicks died today due to aspiration of the formula! I was as gentle and meticulous as possible. Used the same dental syringe and don’t know what else needs to be done. It was so devastating! Also one of them has been having a clump of air in his crop for two days. I even gave him less food for crop to be empty but even in the morning on empty stomach he was having that air. What should I do? Please help so I can save him
So sorry to hear about the chick dying, but dont let it get you down it happens. Sometimes no matter how hard we try a chick could aspirate. As far as the chick with the air bubble you need to "burp" him to get that air out. Extend the chicks head upwards and with your other hand try to slowly move that air bubble upwards towards the chicks mouth to release the air. Dont worry this will not hurt him. Once the air bubble is gone you can resume feeding normal
Paradise Aviary one last thing, one of the chicks which is almost fledging, vomited 3 times today. I noticed his crop was slowing down at night so I didn’t feed him so in the morning hopefully it will be emptied out. Is there anything I should do? Is the formula too thick or thin?
Not sure what that could be. Maybe you over fed him crop got to full so he regurgitated some food back out. just becareful with that because as hes vomiting he could aspirate. Try to only feed the necesary amount about .50 to 1cc every hour but no more than that.
Help. I found a fledgling and I don’t know if the legs are just normally like that or broken :(. The fledgling doesn’t move much but flaps wings as if trying to. She chirps a lot but doesn’t open her mouth to eat but when I put her beak near water, she drinks it. She won’t eat but drink. I try to feed but she won’t open her moth, what do I do?? I don’t have any rehabilitation center nearby :((

Its important to be prepared for situations like this and it doesnt have to take alot of money since baby wipe warmers are cheap

is there alternative if that bird formula is not available? i have seen some mushing kitten food..
There are other brands of feeding formula on the market that are very good. I only use this one because its localy sold here and easy to get. For wild birds yes ive seen many who have fed either wet mashed up dog food or kitten food and this helps, but this wont work for all species so its best to find a commercial formula thats well rounded with all the vitamins and minerals the bird will need to grow properly

what kind of incubator you use to hatch the eggs?...and what exact temperature for finches eggs...thank you...

@@paradiseaviary Yea, they eat a lot and always hungry....
How long did you feed the birds kaytee for? 5 days or more? If not what else did you feed them?

Super 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thankyou
im not sure if this is correct because i am currently raising eggs in a incubator but i heard they could get ammonia from to much water...please correct me if im wrong i just got confused from how much water you put in the mix
thanks!
Paradise Aviary thank you! I think I’ve got the hang of it! I’ve been giving him drops at a time and he seems happy with it!

Can i just use some baby formula???

Paradise Aviary excellent, thank you so much 🙏🏼

Which food feed the baby of Jungle Babbler
Jungle babblers eat a wide range of invertebrates, mainly insects, including hymenopterans (ants, wasps, ichneumon flies), beetles (Coleoptera), grasshoppers and other insects. They will also eat grain, nectar and berries. Try to find a hand feeding formula to give the chick. If you cannot find one I would make my own at home with some grain and insects.
Does the exact formula work for baby sparrows too?
Yes this formula is good for most if not all baby birds from finches to parrots and many other species

can you give this kaytee formula to a wild bird?
What's the name of the formula again? Please I have a little one here @home I think 2/3 days old. Nice video and info!!!❤

Heyy there , I’m Valentine and I have a pair of masked lovebirds both are at the age of 1 year
And I’ve got some questions but before I’ll start I want to say that they’re were never been hand feeded and they’re still scared of me even if it’s been a month since I bought them home
So the first question is about chicks and they’re stages
After I’ll make a nest box fo them and few days an egg is there and I want to hand feed him , should I separate him from his parents ?
But also
Thank you so much , you help me a lot with your answers for my questions
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
Your welcome.
Thank you so much
Since I bought them home a month ago I set up the cage’s place on a small table in my bedroom and it’s like the level of the bed and sometimes when it’s sunny I move the cage in the bed , next to the window , is it a good idea ?
That means that I should leave them alone for a while like few hours for their privacy ?
Sorry for all my questions but I’m a begginer I can say , I don’t know much about lovebirds breeding
If they’re were never being hand feeded , can I let them flying around the room to get used to it ?
Thank you so much for all your help and keep up the good work
You’ve got a new subscriber 🙏🏻
No problem yes having them in the bedroom with you will get them use to you and putting them next to the window for sunlight is very good. Birds need sunlight.
If you want them to breed they will need a bigger cage with a nest and some privacy, but if you just want to tame them you can leave them there with you. Just be very carefull personally I wouldnt let them loose in the room now they are too wild and will fly around fast trying to escaoe and can hurt themselves if they fly into the window. Just be patient give it some time and try to get them use to seen you while they are in the cage. Hope this helps

very true sorry forgot about that, just make sure the box wood is not to thick so it allows the heat to travel upwards and keep the chicks warm. I use a very thin plastic container.
do you need to give them water too or is the formula good enough? Also what if you don’t have formula are bugs fine?
Hi Lindsey the formula is mixed with water so they get all the moisture they need to digest it from that mix. The best thing to do is find this formula or any other brand some species of birds are not insectivorious so giving them bugs might not help. It all depends on the species of birds you plan on handfeeding.
Paradise Aviary i have bluebird eggs because the mom died and never came back, what formula do you recommend
Ive used this same kayte exact formula on wild birds so it will work its one of the best all around formulas ive found on the market. Eastern blue birds are very insectivorous so you can also feed them crushed mealworms just make sure that you take the heads of the mealworms before you feed them.

Hi there , we have a very first clutch of eggs from a parrotlet and we just want to know what syringe size do you recommend and where to buy it ... especially when feeding newly hatched ones thanks in advance and hope to hear from you ASAP lol :)
Hi Sylvana rose ive never hand fed a parrotlet before only finches and I use a dental syringe (3cc) like the one in the video, but im not sure if hookbills can be fed the same way. Usually for parrot ive seen breeders spoon feed the chicks.
So, did they live?
@@paradiseaviary its a society finch

How often should I be feeding the baby finches? They are about a week old.
So when they are like 4 days old (or younger/older) you don’t need to feed them at night? Or ?🤔
Thats correct no matter what age they are they dont require food at night. In nature the parents will only feed them as soon as the sun comes up till sunset after that they dont get food again until next morning
Thank you it was such a good help

With in a few days I had 4 pairs of society finches ready to take care of these chicks and started to trasfer the baby birds to them. I plan on making a video on how this is done.
Hi, can you feed the same formula to a baby swallow (an insectivore) or something else? Thank you
Hi. I was wondering if this type of food would be ok to feed a wild new born baby bird. I think it’s might be a baby pigeon but I’m not sure.
I think I got there just in time before the ants did any damage but it look liked it got knocked out of the nest because it can’t fly at all 🥺 its seems strong though it’s a little fighter lol
@@serenityylove ohhh wow poor thing yes if it has very few or no feathers it definetly did not fledge. Im glad you found it in time. This handfeeding formula should work great for it. Wish you the best, you are an awsome person for helping out that baby bird!!!

Paradise Aviary thank you! The air got out and I did burp him!
Your welcome glad to help out !
I don’t have any rehabilitation center nearby :((
Super👍
question: If an hour later you can still see food in their crop, but they beg should i still feed them?
very cute video
Thankyou
