Having issues with the first part (workbench) of the glitch? Rename your weapon to "You're SPECIAL". Exactly like what's in the quotations, including the apostrophe and capitals. If you're still having issues after that than it may have to do with your weapon and you can always try what I had success with. Go buy a basic bat from the baseball vendor in Diamond City Market and try with that. It seems to work for everyone else too. Good luck!
Fixed that issue, make sure to mod the book after you break down the weapon

Just a heads up, something about the alphabetical order wasn’t really triggering correctly with “x” or “You’re SPECIAL!”, but renaming it to “Z” so it bumps up one letter to the item starting with “Y” worked perfectly first try. Maybe holding undroppable quest items goofs it up? 🤷♂️

Playing this game while REALLY enjoying it like I did the first time around as well as the same going for making videos for it again has me feeling some type of way haha. In a good way of course though.
I want to add that you need to already have the material you receive from scrapping the weapon in your inventory beforehand. Or it will move the scrap into the table instead of the special book
I'll have to test this and see if it's a consistent scenario to happen. If it turns out to be, good shout. Doesn't hurt to do this anyway though of course and just in case.

@@mybrotha8144 I think what he said CAN help in some cases though idk why exactly. However, myself and others have had it work without the materials he mentions in our inventory. In any case, just another potential solution and that may help some people so we take that 👍

I tried it, and it does work. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure it out, but I got the timing down and was churning out extra points at level 3. Thank you for making a clear and concise video about this!
Something that will help controller players in the second step is sort of gliding your thumb from the “scrap” button to the “store” button, in a sort of relaxed manner. That’s how I nailed the timing.

if you wanna go to unreasonable lvls with this. modifiers to your special stats from consumables/ status effects will allow the special book to raise them up higher. like drinking alcohol. to make an in particular broken character dip into survival mode for a moment and becom starving, tired, and dehydrated. this will really drop most of your special stats. making it to where after your done getting your stats back up most of them will be sitting around 15 baseline if not higher.

Does the game actually register the additional benefit from 11+ specials? i.e. Persuasion checks are even easier with a charisma of 11 or higher?
@@hoytmifflin7679 it sure does. a really fun one is endurance. it reduces the ap cost for sprinting the higher it is so if you get endurance past i think 13 sprinting becomes free.
@@hoytmifflin7679 TLDR it sure does and some neat things can happen with certain special stats at high ranks.
endurance- reduces AP cost for sprinting and at 21 end sprinting becomes free
intelligence- reduces the number of wrong choices for hacking terminals so if you get that high enough you really only have right answers.
agility- improves how good you sneak. and with how broken sneaking is in bethesda games you are pretty much a ghost with that buffed.
charisma- you only need an 11 to guaranty passing red speech checks but hey higher char also increases settler max for settlements so if your aiming to make cities out of settlements it's pretty good.
edit- so not using chems and before bobble heads just the special book and survival debuffs thirst, hunger, tired, overencumbered your looking at S=14 P=17 E=22 C=15 I-20 A=14 L=18

This is awesome, thanks! Just started a new playthough so perfect timing. I'll leave a note here, too: the book doesn't stack with any duplicates, so it may not look like it worked until you use the book once. This threw me off at first, thinking a step got messed up.

How much of a difference does it even make past 10 tho? Do you notice a difference or is it just the "cool" factor of it?
You get the same bonuses per point after 10 you'd get reaching 10. So more hp, xp, better vats accuracy, better prices/easier speech checks, more settlers, damage, ap, etc.
Pip boy will show 1 in each stat, but they are in fact in the negatives and will require a number of books be used to reach 2 before changing in the pip boy.
48 intelligence is the max if going 1 cha, 1 int, 9 perception, 5 luck at the start, unless I forgot something. +144% xp, 5% with a companion and the magazine, 15% from lover's embrace for x2.64 xp 100% of the time at night, and on chems. While retaining the 1% chance for x5 xp from Idiot Savant using the special exploit in conjunction with the xp exploit.

42 settlers allowed at settlements when wearing the charisma headwear and glasses items at night for recruitment purposes.

Makes it possible to drop charisma and intelligence to 1, perception boosted to 10 at the start of the game to receive 21 charisma, 25 intelligence (x1.75 xp 100% of the time, and a 1% chance to still trigger idiot savant), and 16 perception at night before adding "Sharp" armor pieces for another +4 to charisma and intelligence.
Solar Powered, +2 strength and endurance during 6 am and 6 pm. Health regen, and rad flushing. You can similarly drop both strength and endurance to 1, up perception to 10 at the start and have 23 strength, 24 endurance, and 13 perception during the day before adding "Fortifying/Champion" armor pieces for another +4 to strength and endurance.
VANS, +2 perception. Combine with both above to have 15 or 18 perception depending on the time of day.
SCAV #5 Motivationally Moneyless, +1-3 strength and endurance based on carried caps.
Barber Chair, +1 charisma until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Phoropter, +1 perception until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Pommel Horse, +1 agility until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Power Cycle 1000, +1 endurance until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Slot Machine, +1 luck until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Vault 88 Overseer's Desk, +1 intelligence until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Weight Bench, +1 strength until another stat enhancing piece is used.
Gear:
Unyielding synth chestpiece, +3 to all stats except endurance when at 25% or less health, used in conjunction with high levels your health can still be incredibly high and obtain the buff.

Nerd Rage 3, +40% damage and +40 DR at 20% or less health. So 20% hp threshold, without solar powered regen is the actual hp threshold to use. Hp regen from kills is only active at rank 3 Rage during the brief time slow effect. I.e. level 300 will provide the 40% damage bonus at 584 hp day or night with 19 endurance.
"Sharp" heavy synth arms and legs. +4 int, and cha.

Anybody have a problems With the second part of the glitch? When you hit the scrap and then store a lot of times the store menu will pop up first even though you hit scrap first. I think you need to hit scrap first let it register and then hit store and hold store down like a split second you can’t do it too fast. I was doing it really fast and I was always hitting scrap first but the store menu kept popping up first. Hope that helps people.
Yeah I tried my best to explain in the video to not do it immediately and rather give it a bit longer to register scrap. If someone is also having the store option pop up, they're simply doing it a bit too fast is all. Clicking store I mean. So if that wait just a tad longer, they'll definitely get it.

Yeah that worked for me in the video as seen and for many others, but for some they had to do something different. Whatever works of course haha.
After a bit of fiddling around got it to work with Knuckles. Removed everything from my Invo beside 2 steel and the book and got it to work after working out the timing. Thanks

Sobald du es gelagert hast (indem du den einen Knopf drückst und den anderen gedrückt hälst) nimmst du es wieder raus, dropst es und sammelst es wieder ein. Dabei kannst du einen Skillpunkt erhalten. Dann dropst du es wieder und lagerst es mit im Video genannter Methode wieder. Das Buch ist immer das selbe, aber du machst es damit quasi immer wieder benutzbar.

I am playing on the Xbox series X. And I can confirm that it works. It took me about 50 tries each but it finally worked. The first part when you’re at the weapons workbench in order for that book to appear you need to have the required crafting materials in your inventory not just the weapon and the special book but the crafting materials that is required to make that
Modded weapon in the first place. So have your special book and the modded weapon and the crafting materials that made that modded weapon. Hope this helps. I was doing this but naked like everyone else but I read the comment section and someone did it this way so yes it works. It will take time but once you do the glitch once it’s pretty much easy work after that you just keep doing the last part over and over. Whoever made this video thank you and I am now a subscriber.

I’m trying to do this now on Series X. I get through the weapon mod step, and I’m able to scrap/store the book. The problem is that when I pull the book out of inventory and drop it, I don’t get the “select a stat to increase” prompt again. Any idea what’s going on?

Make sure you rename the weapon to lowercase x, a lot of times it will chose something else in your inventory instead of the special book if not 👍🏼
Yeah it seems that renaming it to "x" is causing that exact issue for some. Those in such a case should rename it to what the special book is called and that should fix it.

@@devtekve1396 Someone else in Spanish said they put the emoji of the cool face with sunglasses or whatever and it worked. You can try that. Outside of that, this is what I tell people to try. "You're SPECIAL" , "X" , "Y" , "Z". You can try lowercase of those letters too.

I’ve been trying to get it to work but it keeps bringing up other items instead of the “You’re SPECIAL” book. I’m literally standing here naked with no items in my inventory (besides the book) & it still opts to grab steel I’ve collected from breaking down the neighbourhood (that isn’t even in my direct inventory). What am I doing wrong?
Instead of naming your weapon "x" like I mentioned in the video, name it to exactly what the special book is called.
Even that hasnt worked for me. I named it word for word and case sensitive but each time its gives me steel and removes the weapon each time. Ive done this i couldnt tell you how many times and its the same outcome@DemonAsylum
Have you tried a different weapon by chance? I know that has helped for some too.
I got it to work. Oddly enough, I don’t have to put the mod on the book in some cases. It just throws me out of the crafting table & its ready for the next step but naming it has been key!

For the last step it's easier to time you X button presses before your B. Like start out with a slow paced X then press/hold B. Your more likely to screw up the X then the holding B. This is how I began to perfect it
Oh you mean for scrap / store? By far the most common problem for people is they press / hold the store option to quickly. I guess even despite if I say not to do it as quick as possible, their natural reaction to doing a glitch like this is to go as fact as they can or just really fast in general. This is a tad more methodical than that though and imo, in turn easier to get really consistent at.

There's [at least one] fiberglass at Red Rocket for the first upgrade. You also need the first blacksmith perk [melee mods level one]
I did this a year ago, and I saved step-by-step on the PS4 version All I did was load a transfer save when I had the stats & after I duplicated the resources to make a ton of Molotovs got to level 50 before I even left sanctuary

With the explanation in this video I feel confident that I could finally learn this one, I have already grown pretty used to using the conveyor belt trick to pick up the Special book right as it is saving a copy also comes in handy with the Adam cat book that cost so much you can basically carry around a fortune in those books for trading with venders purpose, my last time I did this I even changed my difficulty to Survival while doing the special books to rank up past your limit of ten of each. I was wondering what tricks I can use in Survival mode to reduce my special points as much as possible with out dying.
Basically, let’s say I take all of my special points to ten each at the beginning of the game then go into survival mode , what all can I do to reduce my special points as much as possible while in this mode so that I can add additional special points then go back to regular mode? I’m having to start over because the new update did something to my Ammo manufacturing plant and I cant delete it or use it, game just crashes.
Just going into survival and waiting a couple of days will tank your special stats. From there you can boost them up even higher with the glitch.

i had a save from 2019 where i had 3 sets of x-01’s, 180+ fc’s + 30k of 5mm & most importantly, the explosive minigun. it’s been a blast to have some stability.
That you carried over you mean? Lucky haha. I have some wild saves from the OG days, but I played on Xbox back then and play on PC / PS5 now so couldn't carry them over.

The conveyor belt dupe takes ages, you need to grab the book right before it goes into the storage
But It does start to get fast once you have five books and the conveyor belt and storage is in a loop

@@kyletownend2 Where you need to scrap and store the book at the same time? I assume the issue is you always get store popping up is all? If so, try giving just a smidge more time after hitting scrap and before hitting / holding down store. If you're always getting the store option popping up only than you're going to fast pressing that after scrap.

I encountered some loses with the next gen update. Many of settlements that I used concrete to build have disappeared. And some items including weapons and power armors have disappeared.
Ah that sucks :( I guess it wouldn't have been a proper Bethesda update if it didn't mess some things up though lol.
I found the fix, what was needed was to download all the DLCs again and go backwards to an older save.

I can’t get it to loop more than once. I know the method I’ve cloned thousands of items but this is confusing me.
I get past the modification of the book, I get one point, then do scrap/store and when I get the modded book back it won’t let me gain more points? What am I doing wrong?
Only thing that would logically make sense to me for such a situation is that you're not getting the second part 100% correct. Getting the scrap and store options up at the same time, choosing scrap while having those 2 options up at the same time, and then choosing store after that. It should break down the copy of the book you have and then generate a new one.
I already used my book to apply stats. Does it still works?
Yes, my book was also already picked up and in turn used as you can see in the video. The glitch being done essentially dupes a new copy of the item and so will give you a point each time.

For the last part, it helps if you visualize the scrap and store buttons as pistons moving up and down. Try to press the O button as soon as you release the square button. Not in a fast way but more methodical. It’s also way easier if you use two fingers. Hope this helps someone

Interestingly you can also use this technique to double your Junk resources. As long as you hay a stack of 6 or more the resource you can double it. Useful for stuff like Aluminium early game for base defence, armour upgrades etc.
True, I have a video on it. You don't need a stack of 6 though. Even with just 1 you can dupe it.

We'll see. I've been playing it a handful recently and enjoying myself. It's a much better game than it was back when I made videos for it, that's for sure lol. However, I mainly posted glitches and things of that nature which there is very little of now. With that, my content for it would have to be at least somewhat different.

Try clearing your inventory of everything you don't need for the glitch. Additionally, have at least 1 of any resources in your inventory that the weapon your scrapping will turn into. So if your weapon would break down into wood and steel, have at least 1 of each of those in your inventory when attempting that part of the glitch. Multiple have said this helped them so hopefully it helps you too. As for what you rename your weapon, call it "You're SPECIAL" if "x" doesn't work. You can also try a different weapon. As you saw in the video, a bat from the Diamond City baseball vendor worked great for me.

Same thing happened with me when I used knuckles, then I switched to using the bat and didn’t have a problem with it and was able to do the glitch

@otterpop5551 It does work, .980 on PC is the same update of the game as .978 on console, getting a different item popping up like you have is fairly common and easy fix, anyone can do it and everyone posting comments for instance whether having gotten it right away or after some troubleshooting are doing it. Instead of jumping the gun on negative assumptions and when respectfully you have no idea for sure, why not ask for help? I’d gladly provide it to you. Please tell me what weapon you’re doing it with, what you’re naming it to, and if you’re clearing your inventory of everything except for what’s needed for the glitch and of course items that can’t be dropped.
I don't know if it's just a PlayStation problem or not Connor but on PS5 on the PS4 edition of Fallout 4 for some reason when I go to press the store button it gives me the store option when I press it and not when I let it go. So I can't press and hold the store button.
That's how it is for everyone. I don't see why that would be an issue either. You press scrap, wait ever so slightly, and then press / hold store. If you get the store option popping up every time and without the scrap option bugging on top of it than you're pressing / holding store too quickly after pressing scrap so just back of the speed a hair.
It lets me do it once, but when I try doing it again the UI doesn’t pop up to “upgrade” the special book, or it scraps the original item. Ive tried using different weapons, and changing the name to “You’re SPECIAL” but it doesn’t fix it.
Make sure you're using a weapon that has a mod you can put on from that top mod selection slot. You should also try removing everything else out of your inventory that you don't need for this glitch. Past all of that, try the letters "x" , "y" and "z" in lower and uppercase since the name of the special book didn't work for you. Someone also recently mentioned that "w" worked for them too. Can't remember if upper or lowercase though. Best of luck!

Working on xbox series s. I started a fresh save. I have "visuals" selected instead of performance because i read that has something to do with it not working. I used the 10mm pistol from the overseers office. I renamed it to "x". I didn't remove any weapons from my inventory, and it worked fine. 5/30/24

Can you do all of the steps over until you have plenty of “Your SPECIAL” books or do you have to acquire/apply one at a time?
That won't duplicate the book in the sense of having more than 1 copy at any given time so unfortunately not. You have to just do it one at a time. However you only have to do the first (and imo harder) part once. After that it's just the scrap/store part with the book and once get that down which doesn't take long, you can zoom through maxing your stats out. Took me 10 minutes maybe.
You can use the book to push stats above 10 if you have something reducing your stats. For example, drink a beer then up int. After the beer fades the bonus will still apply bringing you to 11. Bigger stat reduction mean bigger max stats. (May be wrong on that, but, with bobbles and your special you can get a stat to 12, with unlimited your special you should get higher if you can lower your stats. I recommend survival difficulty for easy stat nerfs.)
You have the correct idea, yes. And for those wondering maybe higher stats than you can normally usually get actually effecting the game or not, it definitely does. So yeah, feel free to do this :)

I spent a few hours last night trying to get this to work. I changed the weapon name to x, y, z and You're SPECIAL. It would switch to Whiskey, The Vault 111 Science Coat, Vitomatic (Sim Settlement Weapon) and one time it gave me a key that wasn't even in my inventory. I'm going to try dropping everything I can and hope it works. Not sure though since the Vitomatic is a quest item and can't be dropped.
Yeah it helps for some (if they have a lot of items alphabetically close to the book’s name) to get rid of that kind of stuff from their inventory. Then make sure you have the weapon names “You’re SPECIAL” exactly like that including the apostrophe and capitals.

I legit just started a new game, fresh out the vault, do I have to have Charisma for local leader? Or the first rank of blacksmith to be able to do the mods on the melee weapons? Or are those mods standard? 😊
Depending on the melee weapon you get your hands on first, you MIGHT need blacksmith rank 1. I would wait until you actually have a potential weapon and confirm that before spending a point. The bat I used for instance though did not require it to my knowledge. Maybe a melee weapon you find sooner for the glitch would though. As for charisma / local leader, nope. No relevance to this glitch.

Be on the lookout for the knuckles or switchblade melee weapons. They’re common enough and especially from raiders as well as good options for this. If you don’t stumble upon those or another melee weapon that you seem to be able to do the glitch with, worst case scenario is you wait until you get to Diamond City (quite early in the fam thankfully) and you buy a bat from the vendor there like I did.

Still works, what is the easiest thing to make like rubber mat, or metal sign to level up fastest ? Heard Copper statues, but what if you dont have that ability ? I means something you can build like fresh out the vault ?
Probably just fences honestly. I'd recommend just going over to Saugus Ironworks though to get the picket fences magazine so you can make the copper baseball statues. XP gain with those is fat.
This is great. The max is still 10 for each SPECIAL stat? And then each bobblehead for each stat will make each stat 11?
The base max is that, yes. You can use debuffs followed by this glitch to get them even higher though.
You don't have to try any letters. You just have to choose the right. For example: my book was between corvega key and galleria outlet key. So after Co for corvega. So I named my weapon cz and it worked immediately
In most cases that looks to be the case, but can still sometimes bug it seems. Yeah though, thats why most people are finding success with naming it “You’re Special” since it puts it right in front of the actual special book.
So after an hour of fiddling I finally got it to work. Tried every letter of the alphabet in lowercase, XY & Z uppercase, along with a bunch of random symbols & numbers with the 10mm pistol. I tried naming it You're, youre special, You're SPECIAL!, youre, & a few other variations. Absolutely nothing worked, I kept getting other undroppable items from my inventory. Then I started experimenting with different weapons. I noticed that I was getting different items with other weapons. The combo of using knuckles & a lower case x eventually got the glitch to work as intended.
I'd recommend if youre doing this with a save that youve put some time into, dont try every letter of the damn alphabet. Do XY & Z in upper & lowercase, maybe try You're SPECIAL! & If none of those work, for the love of god, try a different weapon.
LMAO, I tip you doing the whole alphabet. It doesn't make sense for the glitch to work with the majority of letters, but obviously not everyone knows the ins and outs of how/why this stuff works. Given that, I can understand you trying so much. As much as the name can come into play, the weapon you use seems to be able to do the same. I'm glad you found what works for you. Enjoy!

Still works as of the time of this comment ,Couldn’t get the scrap/store part to work how u explain it in the video or maybe I misunderstood.but messing with it for me I was able to get it by pressing scrap and double taping store and holding it real fast
Thanks for confirming and while it of course works how I showed/explained, it's entirely possible someone could find a way that works better for them as you did. Another example is instead of pressing the scrap option in the workbench, some people hold it down and then when they want it to execute, they release the button. Anyway, glad you got it working!

For some reason every time I do this, I can only mod my perception bobble head, or a piece of junk. I removed everything except the weapon, the book and the bobble head, and it wants to mod the steel I got from the scrapped weapon.
Try naming the weapon you use for the glitch to the name of your special book instead of “x”.
Can you save and continue the glitch later once you’ve done it the first time ?
Sure! No need to do all of the SPECIAL stat boosting at once if you don’t want to. The first part of the glitch which modifies the book will stick and never have to be done again. The second part that actually makes the new books can be done any time after.

I somehow knew and hoped this was still a thing. The old scrap n store method has been goated for like 8 years and still works 😂😂 im very glad cuz the 1 thing i dreaded when i got onto the next gen version was how annoying it was about to be to have no junk in the workshops. I hated that part of the game and loved that there was at least an option to duplicate the junk. I imagine its the same for junk as it was where u hit all three buttons at the same time? Or is it like this where u just hold circle
I’m loving seeing all of the stuff that still works, it’s amazing haha. As for what you asked about, you can do the three buttons, but holding like I explained and while using just the 2 is definitely optimal.
@DemonAsylum glad to hear it did seem easier. The timing of hitting Square circle and x in rapid succession was super hard to nail and on a ps5 controller it may be harder so glad to hear. Just to clarify a bit, it's tap square and hold circle at the same time. Use the x to confirm the scrap but have the store button still held until after?
@@SuperDarkness25 So you're hitting square (scrap) and then not as fast as you can after, but still pretty immediately, you're then hitting circle (store) while continuing to hold it after. Obviously if you don't get the bugged screen than rinse and repeat until you do, but once you have it, while continuing to hold down the store option, choose to scrap, then let go of store and choose to actually store it.

On xbox and ive done the glitch before but now after i scrab the melee weapon it shows the book like ive done it right but it won't let me modify the book. It just kicks me out of the workbench. I'm guessing they patched it?
Nope, not patched. Just an issue some run into. I would recommend trying it with a different weapon and maybe even specifically what I used which is a bat from the baseball vendor in Diamond City Market.
I'm on a PC without a controller, just keyboard/mouse and I have no problem with the timing for duplication in construction mode with "store/delete", but it's impossible to find the right timing for the workshop with "modify/ delete" to modify the book... I would like to know, if on PC with keyboard the glitch was successful ?
I will say that even on controller, the combo you're struggling with is imo definitely harder than the one you have no problem with. It should certainly be possible all the same on PC and the fact that you were able to do one combo backs that up imo. Can you be more specific with where the issue comes into play for the timing? Are you accidently scraping your weapon every time for instance? Or it it something else?
@@DemonAsylum When I'm on the workshop at the time of making the glitch when I'm on the inventory, it's impossible to switch to modification mode with the scrap window at the same time...

Open the console command and type: player.additem 001a62d4
No need to do it book by book, you can repeat the command 30 times and put everything on the ground...
After giving the points, I put the 30 books in a suitcase then recycled the suitcase in construction mode... The proof of my cheating disappeared :)

Tried doing it and it won’t let me mod the book no matter what I do. It does everything else, and I still get those pop ups, but when it comes to dropping the box the second time it doesn’t let me pick anything.
So you’re able to scrap a weapon and have it swap to your special book in the workbench? If so, are you 100% sure the weapon you scrap has a mod slot on it and a mod option within that which you have the requirements to make? Like if you wanted to actually put it on there right then? If so than you should be able to mod it onto the book after and do the rest of the glitch from there.
I used this glitch at the start to raise all my stats to around 15. Played on survival for a while to stock up on drugs so I could get all the addictions and push even further. However, now that I have all the addictions, am starving/dehydrated, and have multiple stats below 10 and can still dupe the book, but now whenever I pick it up again it doesn't give me the option to raise anything. Just "do nothing". Any ideas?
Well you said you used this glitch before to get to max so I feel like I shouldn't have to ask this and it probably isn't the case, but are you 100% sure you're doing it right in your attempts now? I don't know what would make the book all of a sudden not offer you a stat increase if you're scrapping the OG one and creating a new one (by currently scrap/store duping it). I personally have debuffed special stats and then continued to use this glitch after too. Many others as well. So yeah that's strange if all is being done correctly.
@@DemonAsylum Yeah, early on I think I raised everything to max just using the survival debuffs, but pretty sure over time as I got drugs or alcohol I would use the drugs/alcohol for temp debuffs to raise my stats by another point or two. Then played a bunch to get stuff like calmx and daddy o in order to get all the addictions at once, and do one more round of duping the book to push them as high as possible.
Pretty sure I'm still doing it correctly. I get the store and salvage menu. Take it out of the workshop and drop it, but then when I go to use it I don't get the option to increase any stats. Stats are already high so not the end of the world but still a little disappointing, because I spent a lot of time trying to get the rarer drugs.

I actually managed to do it a couple times but after a bit, i kept on getting to the mod and scrap menu in the weapons bench and it just started scraping my x weapon constantly without replacing it with the book. I got to do it like 3/4 times before i was never able to get it again
You only need to do the workbench part once. After you have the book modified so that you can scrap and store it in the workshop mode, you just do the second and easier part of the glitch on repeat.
I do the same thing and I get the overlapping modify and scrap screens however when I scrap it, it gets fully scrapped instead of turning into the book

I'm trying this and managing to hit the mod screen like it shows in the video with the weapon but instead of pulling the "You're SPECIAL" book into the screen it's bringing up wood. So scraping the Special book is basically the resource duplication glitch? For me both glitches dont work when I hit Scrap and store (hold).. no matter how many times I try. For whatever reason I have to basically slide my thumb from scrap , select (X), store.. Thats the only way it has worked for me, but also isnt always a guarantee, so I always make a quick save before attempting to scrap the book...
Pretty much, yes. The only difference is that it obviously doesn't result in 2 copies of the book where as with resources it does result in 2 stacks of whatever you did the glitch with. As for your struggles, try hitting scrap and waiting just a smidge longer before then hitting and holding down store. If you normally get the store option popping up when trying, you're going too fast. If the opposite than of course it's too slow. You'll get it down more as you go I'm sure.

What counts as an eligible weapon? I want to get max special points before leaving sanctuary so I don’t really want to go all the way to diamond city for a bat.
Basic melee weapons and with the lowest perk requirements (to save you wasting early levels) are ideal. Knuckles, switchblades, bats, things of that nature. You may need to drop a point into the blacksmith perk though to have the ability to apply a mod. Small price to pay however for max special stats and so early on haha.
Whenever i try to do mod the you're special book, it always ends up selecting a holotape that starts with z. I'm not sure if there's a way to get rid of it

Correct, you can do this right at the start of the game and before doing any missions just as was the case for me in the video.
I did this just fine for about 3 times, and then the "store/scrap" thing just kinda stopped working. I feel like my timing hasn't changed at all - like I said, I did it multiple times already. Might just be bad at it.
EDIT: My hands just got real sweaty and it messed up my rhythm LOL.

It still works, but it's tough and doesn't seem to work with every item or nearly as easy for certain items.
Sooo what has worked for me, being on PS5: is suuper precise timing. From my trial and error it has been pressing X, Square and O in decently timed succession. I think X and Square do the same thing as the material duplication glitch but “O” in this glitch case keeps the whole thing where you can comfortably press “X” and get that juicy lil S.P.E.C.I.A.L point.

You're attempting to execute the glitch correctly, but something is stopping it from working. Is your inventory cleared of any items you don't need for the glitch? What are you renaming the weapon to and what weapon is it?
I wonder if the survival mode part of the glitch still works 🤔 i have stats well over 10 because of it (pre-current gen update)

Hi I’m following this to the tee, but it’s giving me Steel or the Soeech Bobblehead instead of the book. Any tips?
Instead of renaming your weapon “x”, try making it exactly what the special book is called.
I dont know why but Im left with two more points to add to the agility tree but when I do the exploit, to use the special book for a skill tree, it tells me "Do nothing" even if I have 8 points to the agility tree and not 10
I've only seen one other person that this happened to with a special stat and that kept them from maxing by 1 or 2 points. Still no idea why it is. You could either do something to debuff the stat more so you can glitch it back up higher and end up at 10 at least or you could just drop 2 levels into agility via perk points. You could XP glitch for them too or just in general so it's not as big of a deal. Or you could just run with what you got. Max except for 2 off Agility isn't bad. Plus you can get the bobblehead still do to get +1 more.

How fast do you have to be to push modify and scrap? I've pushed them rapidly one by one and later at the same time, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Try holding them both down with different fingers and releasing them at the same time. That's what I have preferred and had work better for me more recently.
