The waxed paper and freezer paper both worked. I didn't let them dry long enough...still had damp spots....but other than user error, it worked. Thanks, Shannon!
Nancy Wiltshire Thanks Nancy but that's really strange. I tried it with freezer paper and it was a fail. I was able to peel part of the napkin off but it wasn't easy and in a couple of spots it was stuck so good that it separated the freezer paper! The waxed paper gave me trouble too but not as much as the freezer paper. I was able to peel the napkin off but again it wasn't easy and I ended up sort of stretching the napkin from pulling on it so hard. It could be that some brands work better than others. I tried a different deli paper and it was a total fail...stuck permanently. But parchment paper was fantastic! It peeled off with no effort, no pulling, no sticking. OH and it looks like Nori paste will work too. I'm going to leave the rest of my experiments to sit overnight and see what happens in the morning. THanks again for being my mad scientist partner!
Shannon Green Okay, strange. Last night I was ready to call the waxed paper and freezer paper a fail for me but I left some of the napkins on them overnight and this morning they peeled off just fine. I think thorough drying must be more important than I realized. Thanks again for helping with the "technique testing", I gave you a little shout out in the follow up video I filmed this morning. I'll get it uploaded soon :)
Ahh great idea! Love accidents that work and that you share. They would be great for washi tape. I think I may have to brake down and get some of that yes paste. So many fun uses. TFS
I can't believe I watch your videos over and over, I learn something new every time, and always get inspiration. Thanks for helping me do what I do. I can't describe what I do, but I just cut and glue paper and whatever else I can think of. I rarely finish anything, I just have stacks of "projects" that I'm working on. So thanks for your help! Lol
yea for the Yes! paste!! I used it to glue the pages together in my composition book and it worked wonderfully! Maybe I should post a really short video on the outcome!! AND I can't wait to find some cool napkins!!
i'll definitely be trying this, i had just watched your video about the daddy van's a few days ago and was disappointed bc i didn't really have the space or equipment to do it (i craft on a little table in my living room) but this is really doable for me, thanks for sharing! btw this is my first time commenting but i found your videos about a week ago and i think i've watched a years worth in that short time lol you don't know it but you've become my new crafting buddy, i turn on your videos and night and play with my art supplies while you entertain me ;)
OMG!!!! I have a hundred packs of napkins and 500 sheets of deli wrap!!!! Knew i should have ordered that Yes paste the other day! Shannon you are a genius!!! I am living in the presence of so many geniuses ! When is some of it going to rub off on me lol!!!!?? Gotta try this! Hugs from Alabama Love you, Chetta
I LOVE this idea! I just recently bought deli wrap at Costco. I have been talking myself out of it for quite a while. Thank you for the YES paste container suggestion!!!!!!!! I bought the 32 ounce container late last year and I am having that messy hand issue. I know it is slow drying but it has become one of my favorites!
Jesse b I have to admit I felt a little bit like rocket scientist when I put it in a smaller container! LOL There is a problem with this technique, or in the application of it. I have an upcoming video explaining that.
This is great! One reason I haven't started my JB5 is I didn't have ANY magazines. I've searched my thrift stores and yard sales and found only a couple. I've got napkins (been hoarding them)...just need to find the Yes paste now...and deli paper.
I buy my ephemera on Etsy and usually it's real reasonable. But the really old things might cost a little more and they are so cool it's sometimes too tempting to pass up. I really enjoyed your tutorials and always have. God bless Shannon.
Fabulous idea I don't have deli paper so will try waxed freezer paper and see what glue I can get that looks like this yes paste you used thanks for the great demo Shannon xxx
Anne Hayward I'm interested to see if you find a combination that works! The only product remotely similar to YES! Paste is Nori paste which might not be any easier for you to get.
New subbie. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques! I am always looking for new ways to make napkins easier to use! Any more tips would be greatly appreciated. 😊
This is a great idea!!! I have some YES! paste, and it just so happens that I have "some" napkins... ;-)... and I have some deli wrap. I can't wait to try this! Thanks, Shannon, for the wonderful videos and the many smiles!!!
What beautiful napkins... I'm in awe of the peacocks! Let's hope Spanish deli paper does the same thing- I'll have to find something akin to YES! paste tho, as I'm sure PVA won't work the same way. Tfs, Shannon!
Thanks so much for this. I Mod Podge my napkins to art paper but I love the transparency of these. Can't wait to try this technique. I have never heard of Yes Paste but will see if I can get some. Thanks again 😊
Love this! Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and happy accidents. That is so generous of you! Did you ever find out the specifics of the foreign "deli paper" you used that allowed you to peel the pasted napkin off?
Praise the Lord on this Easter Sunday. I’ve been looking for the name of this paper. Maybe I could find the little bags somewhere but haven’t done so yet. So yea, instead of Easter candy, I just ordered some on Amazon with my Amazon points!!!!
Here's a hint from Laurie Richardson Haley..to separate napkin layers, lick you thumb and index finger, pinch the corner, and separate your fingers. It works like a dream!
When you used these, did you just spray a mist of water on them and apply? Yes paste is water soluble, i love that about it, i use it for covers and things i may want to reposition. One time i took a piece of 3 times, lol. The first it was fully dried too. never mind i saw the other vid... part 3? fun to watch ! I have used acrylic gloss medium to coat and glue napkins to cardstock to make inchies, then glittered them etc. I also use the gloss on parchment paper by itself adding glitter and fibers and stuff... with coats between and on top, then use it as decals, etc. You can stamp it too. I think you could use the medium over the napkins on parchment paper and then you can use mod podge on them like you like. Probably not use the gloss medium its just the only clear i had when i started playing. You probably have a vid where you figured this all out too, i just havent seen it yet. lol. I like this a lot and am going to to try it if ever i buy some clear non glossy, i just like glossy! lol
Guess I need to get me some Yes Paste! I have seen every one using it for thing! I made my own Modge Podge so I would not have to buy it! Where did you buy your Yes Paste?
On the subject of stair avoidance.......there is one other alternative, well, maybe 2. One will cause an inordinate amount of pain, the other will cause an enormous amount of expenditure................. 2 very impractical solutions to your problem.😉😁🤨
Don't know if you've ever noticed this, but I was working on a collage and wanted to use an image from a paper napkin. It was a three-ply napkin and as I peeled away the plys, I saw that the middle layer had what I would call a ghost image of the outer layer which was actually exactly what I wanted for my collage. Aren't paper napkins awesome? Who knew?
LOL yes I admit I hoard the napkins like crazy and this way of using them I like very much, where would I get the paper you used. Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy listening to you I learn a lot.
You are awesome!! That is absolutely a Happy Accident. I'm going to try that. If I can reproduce those same sins, I have a sticker making machine I can run them through and make them into stickers!!! :) How super cool is that! Big Hugs! Reeah.
Hi Shannon, I watched your video and I thought it is the parrafin wax in the paper that has stuck to the napkin to change it, In Australia we have what we call grease proof paper, which is the same as your delli paper, its coated with parrafin, hope I am right, thanks gail
I’m Australian & never heard of YES PASTE Is it a brand name Does it come under any other brand name Is it a glue or a glaze Obviously has a sticky substance I’d love to get some & see how it works with our Lunch wrap that comes on a roll to wrap sandwiches Looks like your Deli Wrap
Yikes! I gave a whole tub of that paste away because I didn't like how it worked for scrapbook paper adhesion. Good to know but I think I will try gel medium and stuff I still have. =D Janet
I was so disappointed my Kabnet deli paper was one of those that didn't work. Like an idiot, I spent hours & a lot of expensive Yes! paste on my first try instead of trying just one. I don't know if it was the quality of my amazing Dollar Store napkins, the deli paper, or if my new Yes! was too thick. So I tried Yes! AND Mod Podge on the non-shiny side of the deli, on freezer, waxed & parchment paper. The Mod Podge was a 2 oz bottle of gloss from the Dollar Store (I've never seen that there before) that seemed unusually thin but worked much better than the Yes! on everything. The Podge worked best on Dollar Store parchment & the waxed paper. I was surprised the freezer paper didn't do well. The expensive extremely hard-to-find deli paper still didn't work with the Mod Podge.
There are so many variables with a technique like this that you can't help but turn yourself into a mad scientist to find what works best for you. Well done!!
+Shannon Green So I did a bunch more using my Mod Podge on parchment & a few on freezer paper. The latter worked this time. I took them off the papers & put them in a pile. This morning I went to admire them again & they were all stuck together. None were ruined but there were some minor rips. I put baby powder on them and put them back in a pile. I'll check on them tomorrow!
I did find that I had to keep mine separated with waxed paper until I sprayed them. I ended up giving each one a light coat of clear acrylic sealer which completely eliminated the stickiness.
I watched this a few times - I love it! Tell me Shannon which "side" of the tempura paper did you use? You had the "tooth" side to the camera, and then "flipped" it to the other side...so did you use the smooth or toothed side? As ever, thanks for sharing!
The napkins don’t appear to be wrinkled at all using the Yes paste! I wonder how this method would work for decoupage? I’ll have to experiment 😊 Thank you Never mind, I just watched Video Part 3 😄😄
Hi Mrs Green, How are you? I`m Gloria and I like your work. I don´t understand English so much. I am Venezuelan. I would like to know what kind of paper you use to put under the napkin... Please... Greeeeetings... bye
Hi Gloria! The best paper to use under the napkins to keep them from sticking is parchment paper or freezer paper. I'm not sure if these are available in different countries. If you can't find them, try waxed paper, bakery paper, or silicone paper. Even a non-stick craft sheet would work.
I don't believe Yes Paste is available in the UK and I'm not aware of a similar alternative. I did a Google search and it popped up on Amazon in the UK so depending on the price that might be an option for you.
The waxed paper and freezer paper both worked. I didn't let them dry long enough...still had damp spots....but other than user error, it worked. Thanks, Shannon!
Nancy Wiltshire Thanks Nancy but that's really strange. I tried it with freezer paper and it was a fail. Some good ideas stand the test of time! So glad these still live out here 🤓😎😍🥰
Thanks for watching the oldies but goodies!
You can do the same thing with mod podge on a piece of glass and a napkin! Comes out like a decal!
Thanks for watching!
Ahh great idea! Love accidents that work and that you share. They would be great for washi tape.
I think I may have to brake down and get some of that yes paste. So many fun uses. TFS
Linda Lapotka It really is quite versatile.

Shannon, thanks for sharing this happy accident with us. It is simply eye appealing to look at even though I am viewing this vid on my cell phone.
Colleen Goodwin Rabren So glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Cool idea, Shannon! That's also a good way to stiffen up the napkins to make it easier to fussy cut a portion of the design.... :)
Cat Hand Excellent suggestion!
Thank you, Shannon, definitely will make some of these. Really cool! I wonder why they call it Yes paste.
I LOVE this idea! I just recently bought deli wrap at Costco. I have been talking myself out of it for quite a while.

I buy my ephemera on Etsy and usually it's real reasonable. But the really old things might cost a little more and they are so cool it's sometimes too tempting to pass up. I really enjoyed your tutorials and always have. God bless Shannon.

G-G- Gaia The only other thing that I think *might* work is Nori paste and I'm not sure if that will be any easier to find.
Never heard of it, but will google and see. Thanks for the suggestion :)
TY for the information on yes glue and the site to buy it. You are so much fun and I love watching you.

Joyce B I know you do!
Shannon, did you put the yes paste on the back AND the front of the napkins??
You are sooooooo clever!
Cathy Rose Creations Well....not so much. There is a problem with this technique. I'll have a video explaining that problem soon.
Wow, I have yes paste and never use. I also have tons of deli wrap. I like this idea.
Hope you give it a try!
Praise the Lord on this Easter Sunday. I’ve been looking for the name of this paper. Maybe I could find the little bags somewhere but haven’t done so yet. So yea, instead of Easter candy, I just ordered some on Amazon with my Amazon points!!!!

Thank you ma'am!
Here's a hint from Laurie Richardson Haley..to separate napkin layers, lick you thumb and index finger, pinch the corner, and separate your fingers. It works like a dream!
Cathy Rose Creations I will have to try that cuz my way sure doesn't work for me!
can't wait to try
Go for it!
Wow these are amazing. I need to get some of that paste. TFS

delygirl1961 Me too!
What a cool discovery :) I wonder if old tracing paper would work. . .
shaych03 It might be too porous but certainly worth a try!
Thank you!!! Going to try this!!!!!
Awesome!!
Who knew?
Kathy Buttermore I have noticed and it's awesome!
pretty pics! How did you know I had some napkins in my stash? LOL!
+Dolores J. Rush Ha! ;)
Very interesting. Gotta love happy accident. Thank you for sharing.
Sharon Luebker Thank you for watching!
LOL yes I admit I hoard the napkins like crazy and this way of using them I like very much, where would I get the paper you used. Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy listening to you I learn a lot.
+TheCCandCO You can find deli paper on Amazon but dollar store parchment paper worked well too. Thanks for watching!
Interesting here in the Uk we have never heard of Yes past, and don't have Deli paper, but will certainly try to adapt your ideas.
Best of luck!
Very cool, TFS! Hugs, Kathy
How many gigabytes of creative ideas to be in your head? I'm just amazed you.
MR.VICTOR CRAFTER I'm probably storing at least a terabyte worth!
You are awesome!! That is absolutely a Happy Accident. I'm going to try that. If I can reproduce those same sins, I have a sticker making machine I can run them through and make them into stickers!!! :) How super cool is that!
Big Hugs!
Reeah.
Maria Meade Fantastic idea!
Shannon Green, if you don't want the background to show through paint behind the image with acrylic. I love the skins!
christierella Great idea, thanks!
I was thinking the same thing Marjie NS816 making some of them and decoupage them to wood pieces etc.
Great idea!
Hi Shannon, I watched your video and I thought it is the parrafin wax in the paper that has stuck to the napkin to change it, In Australia we have what we call grease proof paper, which is the same as your delli paper, its coated with parrafin, hope I am right, thanks gail
Tempura paint has egg white in it. So perhaps the paper is coated with tempura paint.
Costco used to have the deli wrap. They may still carry it.
I believe they do...it seems to be a little easier to find now.
I’m Australian & never heard of YES PASTE Is it a brand name Does it come under any other brand name Is it a glue or a glaze Obviously has a sticky substance I’d love to get some & see how it works with our Lunch wrap that comes on a roll to wrap sandwiches Looks like your Deli Wrap
amzn.to/3ZYRWlL
Love and hoard napkins...will have to get some yes paste...i get lots of air between my paper and napkins making me crazy
Thanks! Great idea! Great video!!
THanks for watching!
Shannon, that's what I meant by user error! I think if I had waited overnight, the freezer paper would have worked better.
Nancy Wiltshire Neither the freezer paper or the waxed paper worked as well as the deli paper but they did work...eventually!
nice
Yikes! I gave a whole tub of that paste away because I didn't like how it worked for scrapbook paper adhesion. Good to know but I think I will try gel medium and stuff I still have. =D Janet
nanajl54 These are very similar to gel medium decals so you've got it covered :)

+Shannon Green does daddy vans work?
I don't know, I can't remember if I tried it or not! LOL
Amazing!
Thanks!
Have you tried using parchemin paper. Each side has a different surface. One might hold the napkin.
+Monique Richard Yes, there are several videos in this series and I use parchment paper in some of them...it worked well.
I put my napkins on delli . What to do?paper just like you ,mine won"t peel off
Just tried on freezer paper and waxed paper. Will let ya know when it dries.
Nancy Wiltshire Awesome, thank you!!
Did you paste both front and back?
You are amazing!!
Aww, thanks Susan :)
That is Awesome
+Magz 3 Thank you!
I watched this a few times - I love it! Tell me Shannon which "side" of the tempura paper did you use? You had the "tooth" side to the camera, and then "flipped" it to the other side...so did you use the smooth or toothed side? As ever, thanks for sharing!
Oh gosh I wish I could remember but unfortunately I don’t.
COOL Discovery!
AuntBecscreations Thanks!
Please tell me where you got the dolphin napkin. My stepdaughter loves them
I wish I knew, it was a gift.
What is yes paste? Never heard of it
The napkins don’t appear to be wrinkled at all using the Yes paste! I wonder how this method would work for decoupage? I’ll have to experiment 😊 Thank you
Never mind, I just watched Video Part 3 😄😄
Thanks for watching!
Even a non-stick craft sheet would work.
what o s deli paper and where do I get it? That is beautiful. And I love your napkins. this looks so fun to try.
Deli paper is also called dry waxed paper. You can order it on Amazon.
Tell me about your "Image Binder".... I might need that
I show my image binders here: ruclips.net/video/xFzbjfQTEHY/видео.html
tanks for your informations
Thank you so much 😊 but I've never heard of Yes paste ? Can I get it in the UK 🇬🇧?
I don't believe Yes Paste is available in the UK and I'm not aware of a similar alternative. I did a Google search and it popped up on Amazon in the UK so depending on the price that might be an option for you.
That's awesome. Where do you get the yes paste?
I usually order it off Amazon.
