There is actually a theory that Hailies song is either a sequel to Kim or 97 bonnie and Clyde, so that these three songs are a Trilogie and that they are all on one of the three original classic albums that all represent one of his three personas.
There are 2 different stories. In Kim, Eminem kills the boyfriend and baby and leaves at em home and brings Kim to the woods to kill her. In 97 Bonnie and Clyde, he kills all 3 and brings them to a lake.
The beat is the reason this song happened. They purposefully gave Eminem the darkest beat possible to see what he would do with it. In hearing it, Em immediately thought of Kim cheating on him and the rest is history.. Needless to say they never did that again lol
The purpose of the song, is that its "Therapeutic", he felt the anger and instead of killing Kim, he wrote a song about it to get rid of those feelings, and released it so anyone going through something similar could do the same. Fun facts lol
@@khhww22 Yes it came out before Kim but it is the sequel. It follows Eminem burying the 3 bodies after Kim takes place. Try listening to it again and you'll see for yourself.

In that song Sing For the Moment he says "If my music is literal then I'm a criminal, how the fuck could I raise a little girl? I couldn't, I wouldn't be fit to." That about sums it up, he puts his feelings into his music and doesn't act on it.

This reminds of stories people tell of Slipknots recording process back in their early days with Corey Taylore recording naked, vomiting and cutting himself with class to sort of break that seal of reality which is fucking mental. Theres a song on one of their records where the intro is just like a 30 second collection of screams, not vocal screams but just pain screams and that was recorded after Sid Wilson got a call saying that his grandfather had passed away and he didnt make it to he UK in time to say goodbye so he just walked into the booth and got it off his chest. Theres something to be said about how channeling the darkest shit and get results
