  • After resting for over a month in FLL. The largest Business Jet in the world left on a repositioning flight to Puerto Rico to pick up the Royal Family.
    The trip that I had to take to FLL was a very last minute decision so it is ridiculous to me how the timing worked out just enough to catch this heavy. I was lucky to see her before on home soil in The Bahamas a few years ago. Unfortunately she came and left at night so Ive only seen her "sleeping".
    I try not to plane spot in isolation so I added a few more movements moments from that morning as well. I felt like my timing worked out for a lot of things that morning. Another example seeing a fire drill in action.

    What a shame it is no longer available for us peasants to fly in.
    And a much more sophisticated paint job than what I have seen The Donald chose for the PotUS jet.

      Yes, I was amazed by how quiet and clean the engines are. I've seen so many 747 land an take off at LAX. When the A-380 came in the crowds were soooo excited. What a wonderful welcome we all gave her to come to Los Angeles! Unfortunately, her life and been put into seeming permanent hold. I don't know if these aircraft will recover from the Pandemic. With the new Boeing aircraft, the A-380s may be at their life's end.
      You probably know the last was delivered a few days or so ago after leaving Jean-Luc Lagardere plant, a purpose-built Airbus facility at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in southern France on March 17, 2021.

      Not the first time, the heavy metal rock group Iron Maiden flew a 744 into FLL a few years ago when they were playing at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. Lead singer Bruce Dickinson is also a pilot, he was actually the Captain on that flight. I didn't get to see it land or take off, but I did get a pic of it sitting midfield. This may have been the first 747-8 to visit FLL however.

    At 3:43 we see a WN 737 taxing (N496WN) and then taking off. As it taxies past the spotter (and exposes the external of what looks like L1), we see that the door is not locked/lock out of position. I wonder what happened.

      Head cabinet attendant was not on his/her game!

      The other spotters who were up there that day heard 10R on their radios and started panicking and scrambling to their cars. But even in the back of my mind, I expected them to ask for 10L. That's too much metal for 10R even if they were empty. 😁

    • @transitfan954
      @transitfan954 3 года назад

      @@cameronmd80 Most of the time, the heavies use 10L. Like the Emirates and British Airways 772s when they flew to FLL, also the Norwegian 787 Dreamliners (I think the latter could use 10R if necessary) And "Ed Force One", the Iron Maiden 744 that I mentioned in another post, definitely used 10L. Also, there was a charter for the Buffalo Bills awhile back, a Delta 747-451 that used 28R (the other end of 10L, as FLL was in westerly flow that day)

      I work for SW, and THAT immediately caught my eye!
      Considering it didn't cause a major incident, I assume the cabin attendant sitting in jump seat at L-1 HAD to see it in time!

      The door was closed and locked. It’s just the outside handle that was not properly restowed. It happens when the door is closed in a hurry from the outside.
      In that position, the handle isn’t actually attached to the door mechanism.
