People can convince themselves to buy into hype when prices are at their all time high, but they somehow can't convince themselves to buy into fear when prices are low.
I got in around 2014. I was lucky And at the time i thought i was late to the party. Moral of the story. Its never too late to get into Pokemon TCG. It will continue to grow. History doesnt lie. You just have to stay the course.
This hobby is never boring for me because by the time the next bull market comes around I'll still be catching up on all the cards and product I want to add to my collection lol great vid as always
Personally, I think it's worth it for the knowledge. Plus, every video goes about an hour and he's putting out three a month now. It's a bit pricey, but if this is something you're interested in, even for just hearing about "behind the scenes" stuff, I think it's totally worth it.
Yup i get in at 2016. Did not recognize the pattern at that time so was not ready this time around to unload the saturated cards like unlimted base 9s and 10s while they were at the peak. Learned a lot tho and still made out great. Just could of been way better if i was not so stubborn and did not offload all my wotc stuff at the peak in oct/nov like i could have. Live and learn :) Edited: And just to touch shortly on stay the course. That was exactly what i did with my limited 100-200$ a month to spend on cards at that time. Would buy psa 9 base set cards for 20-30$ all day long. It was boring but felt like a good long term investment at the time.
Thank you I’m a British collector based in Tokyo been collecting for about three years. Got a really nice collection with 20% rare and 80% firm cards ( promos and medium valuable modern) with the rises now especially for Japanese cards in the last two months, I am really thinking of thinning out my collection, but I don’t really need to, so waiting 5-6 years is a way to go and your video helped me on my way to make up my mind up. Thank you.
I got into pokemon cards (again) back in 2016, got back out in about 2018 as i felt i was spending too much money on it. the only modern sets that i remember being sought after at the time was flashfire for the charizard collectors and roaring skies for the players. then roaring skies fell off after they weren’t playable anymore.
"Modern in my opinion is in the Golden Era" - you heard it here first. Time to watch the RUclips cycle with the theme "Modern is HOT!". I'd like to find out how the other YTubers are going to spin this since most of them (not all) have been bashing modern for the past few months. IMHO, modern cards like the eevolution and galarian bird cards are some of the most beautiful pokemon cards that I have ever seen.
I partially agree. But take into account that these are alt secret rares and are not available to majority of collectors let alone children, vut obky a lucky few who pull it and extremely rich people who can spend 200 plus dollars on a single card. For me the golden age was in the late 90s and early 2000s when you can actually pull nice holos and sets did not contain 200+ cards with 40 secret rares, 20 holos, ultras, full arts, rainbows, gold etc. Modern is just too much and is at this point legal gambling
@@JH-cb2zf Yea Im a *newer collector and these modern sets honestly look beautiful, the art on these cards are gorgeous.... BUT the sets don't really have an identity and are just too big and yes it does feel like gambling.
The problem is the lack of identity in any of the sets as time goes on more and more "beautiful" cards will pop up as cards continue to evolve with time the cards you think look amazing now will look dull compared to the ones in 10-15 years time and then what? You need something that will anchor people back to these modern sets go ahead and tell me what is going to pull people back to Rebel Clash, Darkness Ablaze or Battle styles ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Roaring Skies is the first Modern set that actually has a hope in hell of making it long term, the rest of them are a complete an utter joke. There is like 100 pokemon sets out already in 20 years time when these modern cards will be "vintage" there will be 200 sets the options of cards for people to pick from will be endless and the cards you invest in REALLY need to stand out and sadly these mass printed, mass graded modern cards will be the bottom of the food chain. People want stuff 20 years later because its rare.
@@onryoki4451 I completely agree, for me the only sword shield set that stands out and has an "identity" is vivid voltage, but thats about it. If you think about sets like fossil, jungle, team rocket, gym heroes, gym challenge, neo sets, ex series, olasma freeze etc. They all had an identity and beautiful artwork, even commons, and you could collect the whole set. Take ex sandstorm, all cards have a theme, with pokemon usually placed in a desert environment, it is unique and memorable. If you give me any common or uncommon from lets say sun moon, I would not be able to distinguish it from xy or vivid voltage (except for the new pokemons in sword and shield). That is only one problem with current tcg
I just want to be able to buy at retail prices and still think the prices in the current market will go down because they've printed so much and there's so much saturation from RUclipsrs to the product itself. After the 25th anniversary, 2022-2023 should see a dip. As more of a collector, it would be great to pick up cards I want at a better price. A lot of these cards are selling for prices that imo don't match the quality and rarity. You can guarantee that Celebrations is going to be targeted for hoarders and in a way, it's not cool. No reason to buy a garage full of ETB's. Pokemon has become more of it's own stock market. My question is what if the hype never happened and even if it did (Logan Paul, Logic, RUclipsrs, scalpers), if the price of a Charizard was $5 and the rest of them were, would people have still been interested? Like Dogecoin was worth half a penny and no one cared about i until it went past 5 cents. Now all of a sudden the meme currency it always was is being invested into instead of using it as a currency like it was designed to be.
I clicked on RUclips and saw the thumbnail and was like "Who the hell did I subscribe to?!?" lmao Great video as always and thanks for the information!! Abraham Pratte
Hey Scott, ive been collecting for about a year now and im wondering why ive never come across a PSA graded card with a cert number in the 30million range, am i missing something ?
Well, I would say that it's definitely up to the supply. Demand will always be there if the set has zards, pika's and all those dark, light and trainer's pokemon cards. Will be disappointed if it's a one time print run :(. Im praying that its not a one time print run, anyone can confirm on this?
If that's true you can just print the pics off, be honest we all like the rarity, scarcity, aspect. If everyone had the elite cards they wouldnt be NEARLY as cool....deep down, we all know that. I collect and I love the artwork. The new layers and foil patterns, dope.
I feel like Im the only one that dont like the 25th so far :( Idk, maybe I'll have to see the whole set before I make up my mind. I do like that they put new pokemo into old artstyles like the light-, prime etc. Idk, maybe my hopes were too high..
I ripped a ton of Pokemon Generations, and not even compared to 25th anniversary. I think they should of let WOTC print the 25th anniversary. I feel Pokemon co. gives the shaft to collectors.
