  • In this video I toured my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Value Village, Salvation Army, Mission Thrift and ReSource thrift shops looking for furniture pieces that need some TLC. Please remember that the prices that you feel comfortable paying for pieces and the final reselling price are all personal decisions and can be influenced by an unlimited number of factors.

I love that you leave the antique pieces that are in good shape. As a furniture painter, I'm the same- there are so many pieces that have damage or are hopelessly outdated that I leave the more pristine antiques for someone who will enjoy them as is.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these videos of going with you thrift shopping and listening to you identifying all the different pieces of woods (since I’m still trying to learn that myself) & all your great ideas you would do to remake them! Please continue doing these, they are a treat! :)

Thank you for simple, informative, and concise descriptions of the details of each piece: what to look for! Learning more about quality, price, age, and style. Learning about creative flipping possibilities (paint, stain, or both; repairs; and design modifications including construction techniques).

This was a great video. I never know what I'm looking at when I go out shopping. I really don't buy much but just enjoy the search. I'm working on a 1970s Dexel end table this week. My husband and I purchased them when we were first married. My granddaughter needs a bedside table and a painted end table is perfect. I'm using your videos to lead me through the process. Thanks so much.

This one was especially great for me because I also visit all of these thrift stores regularly! I live nearby and volunteer at the Resource Thrift Store and was fighting with that table a few weeks ago to make it stand up! I meant to put the legs back on it but ran out of time! It is a gorgeous piece! I have been watching you for a while and wondered if we'd ever meet since we live in the same town but I guess it's not likely now with you moving! I hope the move goes very smoothly! You have been an inspiration and resource to me in my attempts to re-do furniture for our home. I am excited to keep watching your adventures!

I have two of those exact sofa tables with glass tops and cane bottom shelves. I bought one new years ago at the Bay, and got the second, with a matching hexagon end table, from my oldest granddaughter, who had gotten them from her in laws. They're really solid and still in great shape. I use one behind a loveseat in the front window with huge houseplants on it. I'll be interested to see what you do with yours. Great haul today! 😊👍

"Girls , straight line ... ears open "
"No dawdling ... keep close "
And so we followed and learned
Learned about the " yes" and "no"
Hum... I kinda liked that one ... the one with the big wooden knobs
"Girls, next store ... and we're in "
That's how the morning went ....
You may think ... "What ! No way!"
But you'd be wrong ... ya see --
There's this strange affliction some of us have... call it what you may
.....but I called front seat first !!😊

I'd have grabbed that first dining set and ripped out that caining. Upholstery is easier and much less expensive.
Most of our Restores are pricey. There is one twice as far away that is worth driving to for better deals. Its located in a small town with a high number of college educated professionals that are not only retiring and downsizing, they are moving into assisted living/ nursing homes. It's worth the drive.

Thanks so much for sharing! I was just asked by a friend that knows I transformed some of my furniture to paint 4 of his chairs to match one of his dining tables! This will be my first job flipping pieces for profit! They are in excellent condition with a wooden body and undamaged upholstery. I will paint with the upholstery on and duplicate the texture and patina from the table. It will not be an easy project mainly because it's a custom order... Can you please advise me how much to estimate my fee per hour? If you could do that it would be immensely helpful. Thank you for even reading this endless comment!
