I do not wish to be in a car accident, but if I am unfortunate enough to be evolved in one, I wish and pray to God you are the person who hits me, not matter what! I bet you have good coverage!
Hi Mark I do have to say that I love your videos very easy to understand thank you so much. I'm new in Florida I've been here for 4 years from Boston Massachusetts and I'm also a new driver and I'm ready to buy myself a new car your videos has educated me in regards to insurance here in the state of Florida. Now I'm asking if there is any chance you could create a video that would give me a step-by-step understanding on how to read my policy statement. And also show what the policy looks like and what should we be looking for. If you do this I'll be totally grateful.
My sister-in-law lives in Tampa and she says Florida has "No Fault" car insurance. She claims that if you get into an accident, and it's NOT your fault, and there is damage to YOUR car, then YOU are responsible for the cost of repairs. In my mind, why bother having insurance if I need to cover the cost of damages that someone else caused?? Can you please explain how the "No Fault" works even if you have an extended coverage policy (UM / IUM / BI / PD / PIP)? Thanks
Here's something that I'm curious about and maybe you could help me with. What about if I have all this good coverage here in Florida and I take a road trip to Connecticut and I got into an accident that wasn't my fault will my Florida insurance cover me even though my accident was at another state?
All insurance I’ve dealt with will extend your coverages anywhere in the US and some offer limited miles into Mexico. It never hurts to call and ask them but I would fair to say yours will to
The state of Florida keeps the auto insurance high so that less people would get covered. The less people in the state are covered, the more expensive they can keep it because the Florida politicians get kickbacks.
@@RonMilestom In Florida, the politicians don't care about road safety. Florida has no state inspections. So, there are a lot of bad cars, trucks and other vehicles on the road. A lot of politicians are lawyers. They know without state inspections= a lot of accidents. So, it sets up an environment for lawyers to make money in lawsuits because of auto crashes with an uninsured motorist. My state requires to pass a state auto inspection or you can't renew your registration. As a result, auto insurance premiums are really low. I only pay about $600 a year full coverage.
Very informative video! Thanks for sharing. If someone were to get hit and injured by an uninsured motorist, you, of course, would be covered if you have UM coverage. If sounds like PIP wouldn't come into play here, though. Is that correct? I'm just trying to understand exactly when PIP does comes into play.....is it any other accident NOT connected to a UM incident?
Thank you! Very good video. I just still have one question though: if Florida is a no fault state (for personal injury), why would you need bodily injury, since technically it should be the other person's insurance who takes care of it? Thank you!!
Because the no fault only covers $10,000 mix of bodily injury and work loss etc… plus it covers if you leave FL for someone that doesn’t have PIP if you were to injure them
I have a question about right timing for switching out of state insurance to new state. I moved to FL from NY and about to go to DMV in a few days to get my FL DL and FL plates, registration...etc. I just read somewhere that i need to bring the proof of FL insurance. Currently i have a Geico with NY state. When do i make a change? The same day? or 1 hour before my DMV appointment? or when I arrive to DMV? I know i can do it online, just want to make sure i am covered if something happen lets say on my way to DMV or if they send me back cause i am missing some docs and then i ll be stuck with FL insurance while still having NY DL....
I’m not sure what the DMV will do but you can/should change your insurance as soon as you’re in FL. Then take that to register your car at the DMV. Your license you can get separate but might as well do it at the same time
I’ve come across it before. In my experience none of the carriers I know of cover into Mexico or outside the US except Progressive. There may be other companies that will specifically cover Mexico though.
Hey! Love the video, I’m living in florida Studying to get my 20-44 independent lines license! I was wondering If you could do a video or have a video on tips for taking the exam, ways you’ve used to study, certain terms/ things to pay attention to that you think could help.
Florida insurance for cars cost more than 49 states. I’m guessing that part of this is because of the no-fault that is extended to people here. I think we should start writing our congressman and get the law changed so you can’t have no fault insurance. What happens is if it isn’t your fault used your insurance still pays and so your premiums go up. The person that’s at fault doesn’t have to pay in a large amount because of no fault insurance in Florida. The insurance companies have to Come up with the money somewhere so they charge everyone more for their insurance. We need to change the law. I see no advantage to no-fault insurance. Then maybe some of the people that have no license would have to quit driving or go to jail when they’re caught

Sherrod Henderson short answer is most likely yes. It’s not the value of the house but the protection against any assets or potential income. Plus an umbrella is pretty inexpensive.
@@ThinkInsurance my grandma and her daughter lives together they both are retired and was wondering should they get a umbrella policy and would it be worth it?
@@sherrodhenderson521 Since they live together As long as your grandma lists her daughter on the umbrella she will be covered as well. You can do a higher umbrella value too ($1 mill, $2 mill etc.. etc...) depending on the amount they want. She should add her onto being in the household too or at least let the insurance company know to have coverage in the home. The cost for $2 million is going to likely be around $225 per year. Worth the value if they want to be protected to that extent yes.
what's the companies that will take drivers with existing accidents and give the reasanoble price, I have been in 3 accidents, in the last 2 years Not at fault in none of them, but some companies denied me, some others charged me redicolous price. Any idea please?
To be honest, no. I myself would call Progressive. Geico might "if" they'll take it. Last try would be the General but I don't think you can do full coverage if you need comp/collision
+Abraham Valera Yes, FL is a no fault state. PIP will cover 80% of your medical up to $10,000. In some cases you can request to have up to $50,000 PIP in writing. But almost no one knows or asks about that.
The difference between PIP and Medical Payments is mp will cover 100% up to the limit you choose PER PERSON vs only 80% up to $10,000. If 3 people got hurt in an accident and their medical was $5,000 each and you carried med pay up to $5,000 then the $15,000 is covered. If there is more people in the car then that is covered. There's no out of pocket costs up to the amount you have covered. Just run the numbers first because any medical in FL can tend to be expensive, especially in areas where a company has a lot of medical claims.
Okay awesome i was wondering because you mentioned in the video if you have an accident with someone without insurance and if you dont have UM your insurance wont pay for your medical cost. Can you clarify that for me? Thanks!
+Abraham Valera Great question and thank you! I'll have to review the video. To answer your question If you are injured at all in an accident your PIP will kick in. Beyond that your responsible to cover any additional above that amount.
