I am from Asturias, born in Luarca and I also lived in Avilés and Oviedo. Asturias is great, especially in the Summer, so many festivals to go to, so many places to visit, always something new to discover. I loved hiking when I lived there, one of the best and easiest ways to see the remote and most beautiful parts of the region. Don't forget to visit Los Lagos de Covadonga if you can, just the ride up the mountain is something memorable. Asturianos are also great people, very friendly, generous and always ready to have and share a good time.
Any suggestions where to stay for 3 weeks: one place or move around? Hôtel or apartment? We will visit in August with our 2 children and want to hike, beach and visit. Many thanks
@@fionacrossley9087 Gijón or Oviedo are two central locations that will allow you to easily go many places by car, bus or train. But, if you want to stay in small rural settings in the mountains or by the coast (Taramundi, Llanes, Luanco, Cabrales...), then you might be better off looking for a "casa rural" (rural house) or a hotel in the area for a while and then change accommodation to a different location you find interesting. If you are interested in history or art, you should also definitely visit Avilés if you can, he doesn't mention it in the video, probably because it is rumoured to be a very industrial and ugly city. While it may be an industrial city, it's old quarter is beautiful and one of the oldest in Asturias, it also has a hyper modern cultural center (Centro Niemeyer) by its port, worth a visit. Hope you enjoy your stay!
@@ceri091 Hi Triv, thank you - this is very helpful. We will have a car. We are looking at the coastal areas for accommodation in August. And I note your tips on Avilés and it's old quarter - it certainly sounds worth the detour.
I just moved to Oviedo 3 months ago, from the Netherlands, it's such an amazing place people, really, So rich of history! plenty to go and see over here, to experience it! @TheTravelVlogger: if you ever come to Oviedo again, let me know man, got a spare room! Thanks for this footage, and information about the beautiful Asturias! Much Love, Fer!
Playing Crusader Kings II as the king of Asturias brought me here. I did a lot of research on this place and some of the ancient Visigothic sites still exist there.
my great grandfather was from there and had to migrate to mexico because of some crazy king at that time was slaying people left and right, but hey everything happens for a reason!
You must visit my city Avilés. Is the third city in population. We have historical buildings and modern like Oscar Niemeyer. Near is Salinas Beach with kilometers to walk and make surf. So you should go to the west too. Tapia de Casariego and the limits with Galicia in the end of the Eo River. There are most of the best beaches. Especially Tapia de Casariego beach, Peñaronda and Arnao. Famous for the surf challenges in april Semana Santa.
Gracias. Un resumen de mi Tierra estupendo. Ahora espero un Video similar de Gijón, historia , playas , deportes, gastronomía , senderismo y gastronomía.
Hey guys, an Asturias girl here. I would like to comment that this video is incredible, awesome. Apart from this 5 tips I would highly recommend to get high af and walk around our beautiful region, you would enjoy it 100%. E-mail me if you have any doubt!!
That´s great man, but if you do Asturias personally i would recommend you do all of the northern coast : Euzkadi, Cantabria and Galicia (i would throw in Nafarroa for change) and that would give you a real/fuller taste of the North … that will be the place where i will die (if everything goes to plan , naturally)
Awesome video ❤❤❤ thanks for showing my region ! you have to visit the center of the asturias, the miner region, is awesome too and unknow place. You can visit the Xurbeo Waterfalls, Winter Station "Fuentes de invierno", hiking in " foces del rio pino" route.. If you need a guide I will help u ;) I love show my hometown.
It is a fantastic video, thank you so much for promoting Asturias, just one correction in terms of fishing captures, the most important port is Avilés' port, you should come bsck😉, and dedicate more time to this city , you will be always welcome.
Hi Brian, much loved your video, very well done, fits nicely in our recent research into the region for future travel. Love your personality, what happened to your channel activity, appears to have paused some years ago? Would love to find out what you’re up to now if still in the blogging realm or…?
The Travel Vlogger Cool 👍 It would be great to see a video with your highlights for Gijón 😇 Will share this video in our Facebook and Twitter channels next Sunday 😉 Great stuff! 👏
So if you are driving along the entire northern coast for a 4 week trip, how many days would you devote to Asturias? Thank you for the information. And thanks for listing the places you visited and the hotels.
Hi you have to visit the village "la cuevona"... You can only enter the village trough a 300m long tunnel full of stalagmites and stalactites.. Puxa asturias, greetings from belgium. Love your videos 👌
Hi there. First of all, congratulations for the video, I think we need more of these publicity in our region. However, I would like to point out that flighing drones over buildings (Oviedo and Gijón) and inside the CTR from Asturias Airport (like the lighthose in Cudillero) was ILEGAL in Spain before December 27th 2017. So, as I say, great video, but please inform yourself about the national laws before flighing and follow the rules as we have to do.

I was in Asturias a few years back and up to now I still dream of going back to this beautiful land.
