I would like to thank you Christopher for being a Hindustani classical musician.. Where Indians have left no stone unturned to desert this divine form of music, it gives me some temporary relief that people like you are promoting this form of music in the whole world.

I am really agree with Yajur Sood. The same thought were in my mind while listening to this. I greatly admire Christopher because he did not only accepted a music of Indian Music but mastered it. It's sooo soothing to listen to his Sitar along with beautifully played Teen Tal on Tabla. Thanks a lot. May god bless you!

That's a blatant lie. If you like this recital, feel free to sing high praise. I personally found it off-key at places (especially around 6:50 - what the hell was that) and bereft of the bhakti rasa that Bhimpalasi is supposed to evoke. This is something that a beginning student of Indian music might play. But don't speak for "Indians". The tradition of Indian classical music is alive and well in India. A large number of young virtuosos and practitioners of this genre of music are coming up (Dhruv Bedi, Mita Nag, Abhishek Lahiri, Debasmita Bhattacharya, S Akash, Abhishek Borkar, Anupama Bhargav, Vanraj Shastri, Ishan Ghosh, Anubrata Chatterjee etc. to name just a few) - you only have to attend programs and be in the loop to know that our musical traditions are flourishing. Also, a large number of rasikas who often interact with these artistes very closely almost on a daily basis on various social media platforms show that this art is thriving. No need to patronise this. A white man playing the sitar may be a big deal for you, but you don't have to fall at the feet of this very basic performance. Get a spine for heaven's sake.

@@anandsengupta2900You have to relax. You are well trained in Music so you have a fine tuned ear and a lot of depth in your knowledge of musical theory and your standards are pretty high. It's like Ustad Bismillah Khan Saab once told Lata ji that one of her notes is sounding too low, but that imperfection is making her singing all the more beautiful.
But even in the musical circles you would find very few who would not find Lata Ji pitch perfect in her notes.
When a child expresses amazement at a pretty obvious and rather stupid magic trick, elders find it cute, they don't berate the child.
So, rest of us who might not be as aware of knitty gritties of music as you are, might be guilty of ignorance or uneducation but in no way we are liars, as we speak what we genuinely feel.
As regards to flourishing of music, Classical music be it Indian or Western or any other is always heard in musical communities and that is what differentiates it with Folk or its new avatar- the Pop. So agree with you on that.
As far as colour of skin or nationality is concerned, it doesn't bother me. It's all in the service of Maa Saraswati, but yes, if Indian music finds practioners out of India, it is all the more good for Indian music as well as Music as a whole. So, no issues in praising someone in making efforts. With our love and support he might even be able to overcoming whatever shortcomings he might have. We all are afterall, students of music and none of us are Masters. 😊

@@anandsengupta2900 Agree with the essence of your reply, but its quite a strong reply to equally ignorant topic raised in the firsts of the comments. It’s the art which is higher than any musician and not vice versa. The art has survived strong through so many subversive acts in the history that it’s extinction is far beyond the horizon. I recently followed some of the grassroot documentaries (with no fanfare) on channels like www.youtube.com/@growingintomusic5082 which gives a window to the growing artists in our neighbourhood. Let’s patronise their growth instead of cribbing on the eroding culture.
