  • If you had a toy or game in the last 70+ years that you really loved, there's a decent chance you've got toy inventor Eddy Goldfarb to thank for it. And at age 102, he is still creating. Correspondent Luke Burbank sat down with Goldfarb, who says he was too busy inventing Yakity-Yak wind-up chattering teeth, or games like Ker Plunk, to be able to play them himself; and with Goldfarb's filmmaker-daughter, Lyn Goldfarb, about her father's secret to success.

This man's toys were so much better than kids just zoning out to trivia on their phones today. His inventiveness is inspiring; keeping a journal for random ideas is vital! Keep at it, Eddy!

Toys like the Stomper 4x4 had us all playing outside in the early 1980s! Between those - and Kenner's Star Wars ships and figures - we were rarely in front of a TV or any other electronic devices!

Great point and a sad state kids and young adults are in today. The addiction to screens is off the charts and the results are bad health, both mentally and physically.

I love my Stomper 4x4s and still have them 40 years later. Eddy's 102? This guy is a genuine force of nature. Many thanks to Eddy for all the great, and famous toys.

Who rests, rusts - long may he develop new ideas!
Those chattering teeth really hit home when I shared a house in the 80s and the dental technician 'worked from home' = he saw clients who showed up at the door in an untidy, chaotic little room, sitting on a stool in the middle of the washing machine and assorted odds and ends, and brought the dentures he was fixing as the client waited to the kitchen where he rinsed them, held by a tongues, under the kitchen tap, at times over the spuds that were being washed for the next meal... People appeared to be happy with the service provided but then the provision of dental care in Ireland was dismal.
For years after I moved out of the house, I crumpled up with mirth at the memory, and comparing it to the meticulous standards to which a friend in Germany worked in a lab doing the same job...

Eddy, if you printed the lithophane in a vertical orientation you end up with a higher resolution picture. ;)
