  • To the future generation. Are we Really cooked? A pretty cool and insightful new movie I wanted to take a sec to talk about.
*We were not paid to talk about this, just a pretty cool movie because of the perspective in this day and age.*
My wife, 5 kids and I have been living off grid for about 12 years. The lessons we hope to share are from experience and hope that the information we share will help you get started on your off grid adventure.

You have a valid point. My father grew up in the country, but bought a "starter home" in town until he could find a country home, which he never did. He worked 40 years for the same factory, suffered from cancer 3 times because of the chemicals they used, and died shortly after he retired. After I left the military and got divorced, I got a camper and traveled for work, and lived while I made money, and now I'm taking care of mom in her remaining years, then I'll move to my offgrid homestead and my retirement years will be what I want them to be. And a big part of that will be showing the younger generation my grandparents knowledge, off grid living, nature's medicine and how to be self sufficient.

Wow!! That's unfortunate. I'm sorry about your loss. Its so important to show the younger generation how to do the things they don't learn in school.

I’ve been thinking this for a while. Glad to hear some so articulate and breaks down some of the reasons why the younger generation is “not having it.” Looking forward to what they create.

As an elder gen Z a bit lost in life, you have no idea how much it means to simply hear someone say something positive about us. The relentless negativity we are surrounded by just drains the spirit in an indescribable way. So, thank you

You're very welcome. I think your generation has unbelievable potential and will more than likely solve many of the problems previous generations kicked down the road. I hope you have a great day and wish you the best of luck on your adventure.

I'm not even from USA. But here in Brazil, a bunch of other Gen Z (like me) are looking for a way of living (at least) less dependent on failed and tyrant system that wants to know every second of our lives, just for contolling us like cattle.
Your videos are a light to me, even if some things don't apply to my reality.
Thanks for helping bulidng strong individuals, that's the only way for a strong society, like the strings that form a rope.

We wrote a paper on the Uglies/Pretties books in one of my college English classes. We only.read the 1st book but it was interesting. Also other dystopian novels focused twords teens to see how they were similar to most of the popular books of the time. It was interesting.

That sounds like a great assignment. I never got to read any books like that in school. I went to an only the classics school. Those were great too but for other reasons.

I think we are definitely in a culture shift. I look forward to it and hope it keeps shifting to a more natural way of living. My kids love the direction we are going and want to do live this way when they get older. There is hope!

I agree with all of what you said. Capitalism took my body and battered it to the point of minimal function. The younger generation is already far more open minded and born into a society where they see the faulty structures we built crumbling around them and destroying our planet. I really hope they change the world.

I'd say, seek out mentorship, learn from the mistakes of others and become a student of content creation. It speeds up the process something fierce. once you did that, focus on providing value. don't show what it's like to live like this, show people how you did it and how they can too. That's my best advice and what built up our tiktok to 700k follows. I certainly didn't do any of those things and that's why it took so long. We work with a few local people on their channels, not homestead related but that's the principals we help them on and our latest one, we were able to get monetized in 25 videos, once a week and she's getting her first payment this week. it can be done.

@@7kinhomestead Thanks! I’ve been told something similar to this. Definitely seen an influx of how to go off grid videos. I actually just uploaded a video of why I can’t really tell anyone how to do anything. I’m only 35 and just barely started my homestead, I inherited my property and my parents are currently supporting me 😂

@zak_collings_offgrid I understand. Then I would focus on the mistakes you make and what you learned from them. That's very useful data as well.
