"Where do all the other people live in New Ulm????". Take a drive down any country road near town and see beautiful homes and ranches and lots of farm animals...it's Heaven on earth. That's where we live...Thanks again for featuring our town.
Great video about our little town of New Ulm, Texas! I live on the outskirts of town and am a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, so thank you for spotlighting our beautiful little church. The gentleman you spoke with is there every Sunday handing out the church bulletin. It's a sleepy little town, but wouldn't want to live anywhere else!
Another great video! What a sweet man you met. When I see abandoned homes where you can still get a sense of their former glory, all I can think is, "What a shame."
Hello! Learned of your videos on Next Door Neighbor app today. New Ulm Post Office delivers our mail, because our burg doesn't have one! It's all you got to see and so much more. We retired to the region 15 years ago. Smitten then. Still smitten now. Thank you for pursuing your vision! Delightful to tour with you! God bless 🙏👌👏👍
Finding an old Lutheran church in small town Texas is a good indicator that the place was settled by Germans. I’m glad you’ve had positive experiences with locals in the towns you’ve visited. That gentleman you spoke with seemed like a nice man. Just trying to be sure he’s ready for reading scripture in the morning. Doesn’t get much more small town than that!
That colorful house is one of my favorites in town. Lots of population outside of the actual “town”! 😂 great little blurb thanks for “Nulm” props! Super cool town we love It here!
Folks in New Ulm losing their minds they finally made the interwebs 🤣Fun fact. Even though its pronounced ULM in Germany, some local folks prounce it New ul-umn. Add a syllable
LOL. We actually have high speed fiber optic here, lol. Many of us are from larger cities. RE: you heard the no crime, quiet and peaceful and friendly people comments. That's why. Yep.
You did a great job catching some of the beautiful parts of our town! We probably only have a couple of places that are truly abandoned. The zip code that is labeled New Ulm is much bigger than the town. That's where the larger population is coming from. I think in town the population is closer to 300+. It's a nice town with a lot of nice people. And we are lucky to have some great restaurants. Next time you come through, you can choose from the Texas Star Cafe, the Bel Tavolo pizzeria, The Bean Fien coffee shop, and you can even get lunch at the Ace Hometown Hardware store! It's a holdover from the old local store that carried hardware and groceries and served food. The place that you drove by with the food truck is a newer place called The Vault. It's a wine bar in an old bank with a 1920s Bonnie and Clyde style. If you want to see something great, come out for one of our parades for July 4th or Veterans Day!
Thanks for all the additional info. Yeah, I was shocked to see this town had a pizzeria. Matter of fact, it's the first small town that I've seen with a pizzeria.😂😂
The missionary Baptist Church look like an old army barracks that had been converted. (So did a couple of the other nearby homes) Please keep up the good work - I enjoy your videos! 💪🏻🤓👍🏻
Hey I love your videos and am still catching up on them. Have you been to Bleiblerville which is right around the corner from there? That’s what the elderly gentleman was stating. It’s actually got a post office and is a ghost town. I’d love to see a video about it if you can do one. I live down one of the roads really close to the area. Keep up the great work man. You’re brilliant!!!
So glad you commented and gave the name of the town the man mentioned 😃because the auto-captions said "blobber Ville" 😄 (Not that it couldn't be Blobberville 🤷♀We do have Ding Dong after all 😂)
Hello Kevin, I just took a look around via Google maps and the town does have a fire department, post office, and some interesting structures like I do like to film. Definitely does give Ghost Town feel because there's only really 1 road that goes through town and not a lot to see. It's almost too small to the point I don't know if I can make an episode about it longer than 5 minutes, but regardless I like to feel of it, so I've saved it to my Google's maps of future places to visit. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching. 😎
Yeah you would almost have do Bleiblerville, Welcome, Wesley and Nelsonville which are all about a two mile radius. They are so small that it would only take about 5 minutes in each one. But it would still hold up as a solid episode. I’m surprised you haven’t done Industry yet. It’s also right around the corner from all these little towns and is the stop between Columbus and Lagrange and Brenham. I’m still watching your episodes that I haven’t seen and already watched a few that I have. I love sending them to friends that don’t live here and letting them see where I live.
Lots of cars and no people like you said. Maybe the zombie apocalypse has started..JK 😁. Nonetheless great video. Beautiful town. I love that part of TX so much to exploe
@@ThisSmallTown then after awhile, they try to figure out how to live here full time...get out of the city. Don't need to be retired to do that these days with work-from-home so popular and readily available.
Per Google maps, that Mercedes has been sitting in front of that building in that same spot since 2023 of August. It's a really nice car and surprise the owner is not trying to sell it.
I live here but outside of the town. Small and quiet. I'll never return to a city. You literally just filmed this because I see the framing go up next to Ace Hardware.
@@ThisSmallTown Must have missed you since we were in Bellville, TX. You got my kiddos car on the drone flyover. LOL She sent this too me which means the whole town already knows about this video.
Dude, a "guest house" as you named it would normally be called a "Mother-in-law" house in these older homes, for the obvious reason. People were expected to take care of the older generation and move them onto their property. Also, those are ponds, not lakes. Lake Livingston is a lake. Those are stock ponds.
Great video That small church is great on Sundays .. I can hear them singing while sitting on my front porch. There are some newer houses like the metal barndominium up the street from the small white church That older building with all the cars used to belong to an Artist named David Hickman. It was his home, studio and gallery. Unfortunately his brother in law who inherited the house has let in get run down There are still some amazing David Hickman paintings inside hope one day the make it to a gallery

I like the conversations with locals. They have so much more information and insight about the towns since the live it day to day.
Very true. Very true.
Enjoyed the video. Small town people are some of the nicest people. Keep that Dodge rolling and be safe. 💯💯
My Dodge and I appreciate it Albert, thank you. 😎

The parlor was on front street
The fire department was at the New Ulm tavern fire in 1988
Hester Wendts cafe was next to the parlour
It was set on fire in 1988
That Ace hardware store has a good little deli inside. As a small town, the burger is always recommended
See, I would never have known to go inside to be able to give a meal in Ace hardware.
Omg we ate there .. the hamburgers are amazing to look forward going again
Need to visit the Ace Hardware Store .. they have a deli where she cooks hamburgers onsite .. they are amazing
