Oh the feeling of doing things without knowing the outcome.
I remember releasing the KFM thinking it wouldn't be that popular.
6 years and 10,000 units later, its creative captivation confirmed.
As a way of celebrating and honoring this milestone, we wanted to do something that we have never done, and that we will most likely never do again.
Something different, something that speaks to the spirit that initially inspired the KFM.
------Special K-Field Modulator - (SKFM):
An edition of 500 KFMsEach enclosure hand burned to play off the collisional possibilities of the themes of fire and water and to introduce an aesthetic aspect of chance and variation into the design process to mirror the ever wavering and often unpredictable sonics of the circuit itself.
The human manipulation of time in the burning process yields a variety of different looks and textures, some darker and more brooding, some lighter and more nuanced, making each enclosure distinct, much like the way the circuit of the KFM itself can be manipulated by affecting time in the sonic domain to produce either heavy handed shifting murk or lighter effervescent ripples of modulation, with each use case and end result shifting depending on the individual interests/desires of the user.

The work Fairfield puts into their products is astounding. From circuit design, to components, right down to marketing. ❤
Just throwing this out there : how bout a chase bliss limited release collaboration shallow water 💧
Eh, unless it’s all analog they can keep it
Guillaume and the Circuitry crew showing everyone how it's done. I use both of my Shallow Water pedals every day.
My favorite pedal. Thank you for making it.
Is the Meet Maude audio from the demo video a tease for the next special edition model??
Wish I would have snagged one of these! So cool.
They pop up on reverb every now and then. I just bought one last week ;)
Gorgeous
@6:27 Left Channel - Sounds like the pop culture TV and movies wildcat roar that was famously overused. Not sure if that is just my imagination extracting something out of a random slowed down background noise though. Either way, still sounds like it. I own one of these (not the burned one) and I fricken' love it.
This is such a cool edition to an amazing pedal. Does anyone who has gotten one have any feedback on the finish? Like, does it smudge or leave residue, or is it fairly clean?
real shit.
Is pretty!
Whoa-!!
I want this pedal. I need this pedal. I must have this pedal.
Gotta like some smokey flavors.
What kind of paint do you guys use to fill on the lettering and do you need any chemicals etc. wipe it off the enclosure after?
I've tried to do similar things for a few homemade pedals and haven't had great results. =(
🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
dope
🖤❤❤❤🖤
Oh so its just a swallow water with a burnt case?
Basically
Will it be available in some shops in Europe?
is this pedal analog?
Shallow Water "Special Edition SKFM" is the very first pedal purchased from FairfieldCircuitry. Number 227/500. The "one of a kind burn in" metal case looks very cool in person. Sonically quite an amazing dynamic modulator effects pedal. Using Shallow Water on current recording project. This one is a keeper in my collection of pedals. Top quality in every aspect. 💯💥
Excellent and beautiful, thank you-your Shallow Water is my favorite always-on pedal.
Question: Does this special wood-fired, brick-oven version differ at all in its circuitry, or is it simply the newly smoked enclosure on offer here?
Thank you again.
