Ma Long is not in his best form today. But he still played well in the first set. I think we can say that JANG Woojin has showed stronger desire to win and given all he has for every point.

It's ok - any great show has an end. Jan-Ove Waldner, Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui, Ma Lin, Wang Liqin, Wang Hao, Xu Xin, Zhang Jike, they were all shining stars in the TT universe. They disappeared after shedding bright light in the sky like a fireworks show. The dragon is still here, like a burning red giant.

Ma Long played much more BH than usual. I saw like 4 FH in the first set. Could it be some sort of a tactic? Would someone be able to explain it to me, please?
And just like that, there is zero chance of his playing Olympic singles (unless Fan Zhendong also loses 0-3 against An Jaehyun tomorrow, which is unlikely).
He might also have been out of the Olympic team, but luckily for him, Lin Gaoyuan and Liang Jingkun had equally bad losses today. So he might still make it to teams.
Ma long is still ranked 2 on Olympic rankings. FZD needs to do well to make sure he doesn’t drop any lower or else he won’t be chosen because he wouldn’t be second seed

Wang Chuqin: 6145 points
Ma long: 4110 points
Liang Jingkun: 3685 points
Fan Zhendong: 3367 points
Felix Lebrun: 3202 points
This is top 5 for perspective Olympic rankings. With ma longs lose here, it does mean that FZD could catch up if he does well here, but idk how this ranking system works other than the fact it determines the seeds for the event. This is on the ittf road to Paris website. Do some research before you accuse someone of false information.

The Olympics is right down the corner. This is the time for the CNT to work on their weaknesses. That's what they said on an interview.
Sure sit out all you want but don't cry if you don't get to play the singles in the Olympics. Saudi Smash is the last station before the olympics and it is Ma Long's last chance to earn points. However with this lost that slot is good as gone since FZD is still in and Ma Long is already way behind FZD from the start

@@AndrewUdal please get your sources right, or provide me with the source you have that states Ma Long is ranked 2 for the selection. It's at most a month ago that Ma Long has far less points than FZD. Apart from winning the World Cup, Ma Long's performance is not as consistent as Fan Zhendong's so it is not going to send you straight to the 2nd rank as the points gap is too far apart. If this Saudi Smash doesn't count as you claimed, this means it's already a confirmed bye bye for Ma Long for the singles.
Jang was simply too good for Ma Long this time.

Let's face it. Ma Long is not going to get the second Olympic singles spot. Last time I followed up he is already 3000 ranking points behind FZD who is the second player on the Chinese Olympic rankings, first is WCQ,. And China deducts extra points for losing to foreigners. If FZD wins tomorrow then it's bye bye for Ma Long for the singles event in the Olympics. Even if he eventually gets the slot through CNT top management unfair manipulation, he is very likely going to lose the gold anyway. It's not about "big stage mentality", it's about age and physicality. Ma Long is almost at his limit. He even lost 0-3 to a person that only managed to get 1 set against him in so many encounters in the past.
Don’t know where you got the rankings but the Olympic rankings tells a different story which is a big consideration for China. FZD is about to lose world champ points and is seeded 4th where ma long is 2nd so if FZD drops any further he won’t be second seed meaning China could face in the semis, automatically making FZD not able to play singles
@@AndrewUdal Provide me with your source then. It's offically and publicly known that about a month ago FZD has 3000 points more than Ma Long. During this period, Ma Long already lost to two foreigners and this lost against Jang Woojin marks his third. A lot of point deduction already came from there. Whereas on the other hand FZD only lost to one Foreigner Hugo Calderano and his overall tournament performance is more stable than Ma Long. Apart from wininng the world cup, Ma Long doesn't have any more impressive performances to show. So mathematically and logically speaking there is no way for Ma Long to surpass Fan Zhendong to reclaim the second slot due to the huge points gap difference. I am not sure if they are going to remove the world championships points in the Chinese Olympic points system but if they haven't done so and the points accumulation ended on the 7th May which is today like you claimed, then there's absolutely no chance for them to remove them after today. Which means Fan get's to have those points counted towards his olympic points thus securing the slot.

Ma long is similar to maradona nobody has reached to his achievements it doesn’t matter he lost an open tournament it might happens and doesn’t mean his opponent can beat him again in forthcoming match

This is pretty disappointing, not for Jang Woojin as I know he has the talent, but for Ma Long’s legacy on an Olympic year. I hope what Adam is saying isn’t true because it would be a shame to see him not try for the three peat, but being FZD in that situation, I would be devastated. That being said, FZD has not been playing nearly as well recently.

Bobrow needs to keep his Ma Long bias to himself. Every time Ma Long loses a point he sound so disappointed like a sad puppy and does not give his opponent enough credit. And just because you're a commentator does not mean you need to yap non-stop during the match. Just listen to other sports and the commentators do not yap nonstop during the action and allow the fans to digest the action with appropriate pause. This Adam just yaps 24/7 like this is his personal talk show with endless irrelevant chatter.
That's why he's popular, people like that. Sorry if it's not for you, turn the sound off then..

You see this is the problem with people. They are never satisfied. Bring a lousy commentator in who doesn't know a thing about table tennis they complain. Now brought in the best commentator in table tennis ever who is also known as the voice of table tennis they tell him to shut up.
