Listen to this Gen Xer who lived off both 55th & 56th ave. Back in the 70s when we first moved to Lauderhill from over by Dillard high there weren’t many blacks it was mostly jews & Italian. My mom even worked in the home of an Italian family that owned a wine company named the Gallos. They put low income black families in the apartments that’s backed up to the turnpike which is where I lived. I went to Royal Palm Elementary & Lauderhill middle. It was a prosperous city with no crime. I remember how badly my family wanted to rent in tree garden as it was pristine. We ended up moving into the apartments directly in front of them because we were on section 8. We also lived on 27th ct. off 56th known now as u street. I have swam in every last pool in deepside as we would often trespass into the large complexes. It was my brother & his friends that named that side of Lauderhill “deepside” in the 80s. I also remember how u would be stopped by the police if u entered Inverray off Oakland & 56th. It was home to the television stars such as Jackie Gleason. Often times u could see Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis, Jr with Gleason playing golf off Rock Island Rd. near Oakland park Blvd. Lauderhill back then was a playground for some and an unknowable trap for others. I remember when I became pregnant with my one & only child I brought him home to 5820 NW 27th ct. to my mother’s surprise 😊. We had a close community back then. Some Haitian’s & Jamaican’s immigrated moving in next door & we all had to acclimate to each other’s culture which at times (many years) wasn’t easy however, overtime we became one. Looking back now I can see the deliberate measures taken to by those in positions of power to defund the city turning it into what we currently see today. Grouping low income individuals together is a recipe for disaster because one can only survive and not thrive. All of that is done by design. Sadly, to this day my brother is one caught up in the system that led to him being homeless off 55th while my other brother turned to heavy drugs & my last brother passing away. My sister & I along with a few cousins & friends decided not to fall in the trap & are ok. In conclusion, Lauderhill was such a beautiful place to live & will always hold a place in my heart as all my memories are there. I witnessed in this video good hearted people who would probably give u the shirt off their backs if u were in need. We deepsiders are loving individuals just some playing the hand they were dealt. Shout out to Speedy, Dexter, Lydia, Tooka,, Red, Reggie, Barry, Peaches & the crew. Deepside babyyy! ❤
The Inverrary section of Lauderhill was a Jewish stronghold made up of mostly retirees & individuals at leisure. It was exclusive, sort of like a private city within a city. Inverrary Gardens was no different than any other complex in Inverrary as it was crawling with well to do white men whom loved playing golf. Golf carts were driven probably more than actual cars. That’s all u could see literally everywhere often time stopping traffic as they casually crossed the busy street. Inverrary Gardens had beautiful landscaping as did all of that section of the city. Some of Inverrary was not built out and resembled a forest. Inverrary even had a nice cozy park that couples would frequent in the night hours that was just south of IG. But all of that is gone since the housing boom. Majority of the Jewish community is gone too moving out west to Plantation & then again heading north to Parkland. However, there is still a remnant in Inverrary off 44th. Did u or family live there?
I enjoyed this one , it’s always a good vibe seeing people humble and positively prideful regardless of whom or what …. None of that extra tough business on the camera …. Just being who they are

I live in Lauderhill. Lauderhill is not too bad. Just show respect, and people will give it back. Some of the young dudes be on that time, but mostly people just be retaliating. Do people get shot or killed? Yes, all the time. Mostly, though, just show people their respect. That's over there by the Boys and Girls Club. China Hut is wild, lol.
Raised in Broward my whole life. I'm 29. Know enough friends and copped enough times from Lauderhill to know; These are some of the most kind hearted gangsters you'll ever meet. Just don't fk with their money(If you even get close).
A phrase I know: "We won't rob you; But we might run your bank dry".
Love my city. #CoralSprings
BROWARD 🤘🤘 i know about Tee Stunna from his work with Gold Ru$h 🔥🔥

Back in the day I lived in Lauderdale Lakes and I was waiting for the bus at the Lauderhill Lakes terminal and some dudes kept circling around me but my bus suddenly pulled up before anything happened
Lauderdale Lakes does not have a bus terminal, but it does have bus stops.
Good to see this shit right here I stayed across the way on Shallowside but all my school friends growing up from there shit bring back memories you not from broward if you don’t know
Why dont you do a vlog on Zay Flowers neighborhood in Lauderhill? He does events out there for the neighborhood like Zay Day,... I used to teach a bunch of kids from that neighborhood. Love those kids...
