- Catch up with Jody and John for October 13’s Funday Friday episode. Today, they are sharing the highlights of recteq Fest plus they are cooking some Birria Tacos and Shrimp Stir Fry on the brand new DualFire and SmokeStone! We’re also answering many of your questions about these new innovations so be sure to check it out.
I would have liked to seen them address the cook top warping when he puts the water down on the broccoli instead of shrugging it off. It did appear to fix it's self after closing the lid and it getting hot again. I have a rectec so not a hater. Will look to buy one after they are fully reviewed.
Didn't see that it corrected itself. Good to know it did. I have a rt-700 as well and also not a hater. Want to see how this does in the wild cause I find it really neat.
Would be nice to know what @recteq has to say about that. Those of you who own a competitors griddle is this a thing that happens on all of them? I am worried that over time it would not stay flat.
I have been using flat top griddles for years and I will just say that if there has been any warpage, it hasn’t been enough for me to notice. I did see this griddle flopping around a little bit though hoping it just wasn’t fully seated into position or something.
It does happen to other flat tops. He added the water to the broccoli and it drops the temp too fast which causes the warp.
It will heat back up and flatten out. I would guess they also have bracing rack welded on the bottom to help with this problem
@@KR-le6to I have an old 36in blackstone on the porch... Iv hit it with water and everything else, never a movement. Its one of first Blackstone designs from 2018, so maybe things are different now.
I was sold on the smokestone until I saw that thermal warpage. While extreme temp differentials can do this to other flat surfaces that tells me the flat top is very thin which I would.not have expected from rectec and the high cost of this unit.
Check out that epic warp at 1742 from a little bit of water 😮😂. And the look on his face as he gives the “oh well” to the producer 😆😆
What happened to the griddle at 17:44? It like pops up on that one corner?
I was just going to mention that 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
it warped from the water
@@joshuahuff3645 just from the little he sprayed on the opposite side?
@@graanto1 yea, that was a surprise, I know they have great customer service and a 6 year warranty, but for $1000 the top should never flex like that.
@@graanto1 Some how they seemed to rcover it or it recovered itself, but you could see his facial expression after he closed the lid back and you see it flop on the next opening... but may when it got back up to temp it returned to normal state....
How big of a temperature swing do you get on the smoke stone with having the lid open for a cook? if it shoots higher than the set temp do you recommend closing the lid and letting it equalize to the temp set before turning it off?
I was sold…. Until I saw the griddle top warp… 🫣🫣
It didnt warp he threw cold water on it and with the kind of heat he had going it popped any metal would do that even cast iron.
Yes that pop is the metal warping without a doubt. I am also a Recteq owner and love their products but that ended my debate between my Blackstone and the SmokeStone.
Never had my Blackstone do that while making hibachi and cleaning where I use water. Also never had my cast iron pop like that. The only time I’ve seen that is on thin cheap metal cooking products.
Also like to add, knowing Recteq they will remedy that issue quickly.
@@jimtewa8096 I’ve owned a 36” black stone for years now and have NEVER had the griddle top do that. I also own a RT-700 so I’m a fan of recteq. Just don’t think this product is ready for release with the current griddle too. I’ll wait for this to get sorted and check back in.
@@PadreDio80I agree. Love my RT-700 and was stoked about the griddle. Just gonna wait until they get it sorted out! I’m sure they will. My smoker is flawless and have never had so much as a hic-up!
I just hope you guys will be able honor the warranties of everyone that bought the older version grills because I bought a new RT 700 this Summer. And I hope you will keep making parts for them.
We will always honor our warranties. Give us a call (706-922-0890) anytime and we can provide more details if neccesarry.
Does the 6byear warranty cover warpage of the flattop?
From a Blackstone and Recteq owner thank you for your vids! Always clean my Blackstone like cast iron pans. Rough scrub with water then dry it off then put salt on it and a fine scrub for the stubborn things if you need. Otherwise call it seasoning and move on😂
Suggestion: Since there is no real dual zone cooking, the warming rack should be flat top too and not with grates.
Can you cook steak on one side of the dual fire while making smoked Mac and cheese on the other side?
I'm liking that Dual Fire. Great video this week guys.
i love you two master smokers
What’s the size of the grid compared to a 36inch black stone
Loving the new grills and especially the Birria. My favorite Mexican dish. Do you have a target temp for the meat?
Can you piggyback the power cord on the
Rt1250, with the smokestone
How quickly does the Smokestone come up to temperature?
The flat top warped before our eyes and they just moved on like nothing happened 🤔 17:36
They aren’t going to say, “Houston we have a problem”!
What kind of oil do you use on the Smoke Stone?
Guys thanks for this, just waiting for my to ship.
17:45 warped. Glad I seen that now i now cold rolled is not the way to go
That griddle is not thick enough or heavy enough, that should not have buckled with a little sprits of water. Come on Rec Teq what are you guys doing! Anybody test it before putting it out to the public?
Modern grills that have burners has left the chat.
So they noted from the app you can start, change temp, stop etc. Unless unique to this model only you cannot start your pelletunit with the app. It immediately comes upmwith a message due to safety to start the grill manually notnthrubthe app.... that is dissapointing. Off does work but somshould on
How much is the dual fire going to cost
It's on the website 1799
Birria tacos and you don’t dip them before you take the first bite?! Your both fired.
Does that front shelf fold down?
No that’s the hopper lid like the 1070 has.
@@grahammonohan92 thanks so much 🍻
I have got to get that duel fire!
I forgot to end my question with... recteq baby!
Everyone in the comments acts like dual zone cooking is so important. It's not...just get better at food management and timing. The average joe does NOT need dual zone cooking.

I also would like to do a shoutout to Jodie's Mom from IL 😁

Only one zone of cooking.
