- Terrence shows how to wire and install the Euro spec taillights on his 2016 Mustang GT. The lights can be ordered from fordpartsuk.com (see info below) and surprisingly, a set of these are cheaper than one US version light!

There are some people modding them to make them all red. Terrence may do that at some point.
I don't know, I like the current look that it has. It is certainly different. As a long time Fox body owner I know Mustangs can be so popular and common that it is hard to stand out and this is a mod you don't see every day. In fact I was not even aware of it and have never seen euro tails on the street. Thanks for sharing.
16P51-GT I have a quick question where did y'all get the re wiring diagram for the tail lights in planning on buying the tail lights I just can't find a diagram for the re wiring

This personally is not my taste but that's what I love about the car community. There's endless possibilities with cars and when you start modding it's very unlikely that you'll ever see a car just like yours. I just love it and props to this guy for thinking outside of the box.

+16P51-GT By the way you're one of my favorite RUclipsrs. I'm 18 and trying to get a job right now so I can buy my own 5.0 but I'm having a really hard time because I'm in a wheelchair and employers don't really want to give me a chance. I've tried everywhere but unfortunately people who don't need experience are the people who won't give me a chance. But the people who don't mind the chair require experience that I don't have. I've been trying to get a job for 3 years with no luck but I'm keeping my head up and applying wherever I can. When I get my Mustang I want to do what you do and make videos. But in the meantime I just need a job lol

This wiring would not be street legal in Europe, though. The amber turn signal and the red tail/brake lights should be hooked up to work separately.

Those Euro taillights look amazing! Preserves the classic Mustang look, but with a modern twist. Love 'em! May put them on my brand new 2017 GT.

Hi from Australia. Could you help me understand American sequential blinkers on your 2016 Mustang GT . Is the sequential system for blinkers in the tail light or is it a part of the electrical system some where else in the car ,Thanks. (Great informative vid)

Hi guys, that's a superb info as I have a American specs Mustang 2016 and I'm taking it to Europe next year... my only concern is the rear fog light... easy to buy or upgrade the lamp only but the switch??? in the head light switch is a front fog only, were can I buy the one with both (front and rear)? including harness connection?
Pedro Ricardo What rear fog light? There's a back-up light but no fog light on the rear.
Excellent mod & THX for the video. QUESTION: The US plug is numbered are the wires numbered to to match up into the plug?
Thanks! I don't think the wires are numbered, they usually are just differentiated by color. So, (for example) they could say the brown/yellow wire goes in to slot 3, etc. But, there is a diagram toward the middle of the page here that you may find useful: www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39326&page=3

How crazy can this be, we in europe would love to have the red seq. lights, and you guys like the simple white coloured lights...And the strangest thing is, these parts are made in the US, shipped to UK and you buy them back for a lot of money. I am confused. Please send me your red seq. taillights.....:) Nice video guys. Keep up the good work.

I think they'd look good. I'd probably go with the clear or smoked LED side markers though. Like I mentioned in the video, the red side markers seem out of place when the Euro tails are installed.

Are those performance package wheels? How did you get them to not be black?
Yeah, they are. Ford offers them in Silver too, it's just rare to ever see them.
I'm personally not a huge fan of the amber corners, but I do like the look of the clear lenses. I wonder if it's possible to simply replace that component of the OEM tails?
Overall, good looking car. I hadn't seen the bright silver performance pack wheels yet, but now I want them. :)

Thanks for watching. I wasn't sure about the amber light at first either, but I think it makes it unique (at least here in the states). I have seen people do a modification to make them all light up red, but I'm not sure how exactly they did it. And yeah, the silver PP wheels look pretty sweet. Especially since so many people have the black ones.

They still sequence. But, it's two solid red's and then the amber. That's how the Euro one's work. However, I have seen where some people have modded them to work just like the US version.

Love silver wheels on a black car. Definitely gives it that BMW'ish feel. with everyone on the dark wheel look these days it's hard to find anymore on american hot rods
Very true! The silver Performance Pack wheels he has are fairly uncommon. His was actually the first that I've seen with them.

How hard would it be to swap the amber with red LEDs and to get the sequencing back to normal?
There's people that have done it. So, it's possible, but the difficulty would depend on your experience with electronics.
May I resume:
The US lights have a red looking glass with red rear light/brake/turn(=sequential indicator)
The Euro lights have a white looking glass with red rear light/brake but with amber turn(=flashing indicator)
So if I install US lights (red) on my Euro Mustang, I will have flashing red turn indicator ?
Is changing the lights sockets the only modification, or is it necesary to do somethoing else ?

Yes ,the US lights don't have any amber bulbs. So, everything would be red. Changing out the connector is all that is needed to get them working.

As said check with your state as most states it is illegal to have clear tail lights. Euro cars coming into US with states that conduct safety checks require converting to OEM tail lights.

It would be legal if there were red reflectors on the rear of the vehicle. But of course that would eliminate the look he's going for.

Great vid however this solidified my concern w/ the euro lights. I l o v e the look but loosing the true sequential lights and that odd amber light will be a deal-breaker for me
There is a company that wires the euro's t have any functionality that you want. The follow up video shows Terrence's lights after being modified. They now have true sequential functionality.

I live in Europe and own the GT. As much as I love it I strongly believe the decision two put white taillights on the Mustang is a disgrace (I mean by Ford because as a modder you may do whatever you wish). I started with red foil and now changing them to US red tail lights (rewired and working like EU ones).
Yes, I've seen a few videos out there with people in Europe switching to the red ones. I think the white one's look good on certain colors, but not all. Unlike the red that go with any color. And thanks for watching!

American Mustangs are definitely engineered different from European Mustangs. They have different taillights, different rear bumper side parking lights, side mirrors. European Mustangs do not have the functional three LED bars in the headlights, they are reflectors. They do not have the hood scoops like American Mustang GT. The horsepower on European Mustang is 410 compared to the 435 horsepower American Mustang. Horsepower was reduced because of the because of the right side steering wheel mechanism of the European Mustang. Therefore, the European Mustang has a thinner and restricted exhast manifold pipe. The drive axle ratio is also less than its American counterpart. However, the European Mustang has a faster top speed compared to the American Mustang. There is no six cylinder engine option or Recaro seats on the European Mustang GT either. European laws are very strict on vehicles.
Yes, the difference in regulations played a major role in the differences.
The only cuntry(s) in Europe with Right hand drive is Great Britain but the rest is correct.

Yeah, they should. The GT350's use the same taillights.
Nice video. You just need to reprogram your computer. This way your brake lights will be separated from turn signal. And when you put your blinker on,only amber light will flash!
when u brake the orange light is not supposed to be on only supposed to be only two red...the official euros have the orange flash only when signaling and hazards. i know this because i test drove these cars and had to do a check for the tail lights. maybe these have been altered
They were re-wired to use the US connector. I'm sure they could be wired to operate exactly like those using the Euro connectors though.

These are not DOT legal due to lack of required red reflector that must be visible at a certain range when hit with incoming headlights.
I had after market taillights on my old Altima which didn't have reflectors built in. But, they came with two reflectors which you could stick on the bumper which made them legal. On the S550, the reflectors are built in to the bumper and I don't think that the US version even has reflectors built in to the taillights. I have black out panels on mine, so I'll have to check. But, the reflectors being built in to the bumper stock should make them legal.
The 2015 to present corvette z06 have clear white tail lights from factory
16P51-GT Putting red reflectors on the back of your car would make your CAR DOT legal but not the tail lamps hence the lights are not DOT approved as a standalone. The bumper reflectors on the s550's are on the sides (DOT required) and are separate from the tail lamps. There are a lot of things required by DOT for a vehicle to be legal.
The reflectors are on the rear bumper on the S550's, toward the bottom. I'm not sure where you live, but in Virginia, vehicles that don't meet the following criteria would be rejected:
5. Lens on rear lamps, or lens area in combination rear lamps (tail lamps) are not red or contain a dot of another color. LED light-emitting diode) lights with a clear lens are acceptable if of an approved type. For those vehicles that are equipped with a multiple LED light (not filament-burning bulbs), they will pass inspection if more than 50% of the diode lights are burning.NOTE: Replacement tail lamps, commonly sold as "clear" tail lamps or "Euro-Tail" lamps will not pass inspection if the red lamps are replaced with clear ones.

If you live in the US, you won't be able to check out through the site. You have to complete the form that I have in the description of the video. Then they send you an email telling you how much it is with a link that you go to and you can pay via PayPal or direct from your bank account.
They 110% legal in all states. The c7 z06 has those.
I may be mistaken but from what I can see the z06 has all red brake lights.

I hate the euros on new edge mustangs looks like cheep eBay tail lights plus extremely ugly with the yellow below the red tails.. only reason some guys do it is for the bragging rights in the mustang community which isn't really bragging on the new edges... but these look great on the newer mustangs! Especially with that black paint!! Wasn't expecting this at all when I clicked on the video. Great vid

Yeah, you can still get some relatively inexpensive mods. Just depends on what you're looking to do. But some of these things aren't cheap! But, in the case of these lights, the fact that you can get a set for less than price of one US OEM light makes it a bit easier to justify.
they do look amazing. they must not be 50 state legal if ford decided against putting them on the Domestic lots. Which means they are probably illegal in California lol
I think Ford went with the white version due to some regulations in Europe about the turn signal having to be amber, if I remember correctly.

I address that in the video. But, you'll have to check with your local jurisdiction. They light up red when you hit the brakes, but legality may vary state to state.
