In this video, we have depicted our journey by the only meter gauge rail route of Rajasthan connecting Mavli Junction of Udaipur district to Marwar Junction of Pali district via Khamli Ghat and Goram Ghat crossing the mountains of Aravalli Range of Rajasthan.
This railway route is considered as one of the heritage rail routes of India. On daily basis, only two trains are running. One from Mavli Junction which departs at 7:25 am and another from Marwar Junction which departs at 12:15 pm. both trains will have a crossing at Phulad.
Excluding Mavli Jn. and Marwar Jn., there are 15 more railway stations in this route. Nathdwara, Kankroli, Charbhuja Road, Khamli Ghat and Goram Ghat are significant railway stations in this route.
All these stations are old fashioned, even the railway signaling system is also conducted manually with pully and relay system.
After the train departs Mavli Junction, it crosses 11 railway stations to reach Khamli Ghat. Later, it starts climbing the hills of Aravalli Range and passes through several tunnels and viaducts to reach Goram Ghat. Gradually, it descends from the hills and reaches Phulad after Goram Ghat.
At Pulad, the YDM4 locomotive by which the train is pulled, gets shunted to the other end of the train rake. Also, Mavli Jn. bound train which departs from Marwar Junction at noon, gets a crossing.
Overall, the train journey is overwhelming, as you enjoy enormous natural beauty throughout your journey.
