- I do hope this video helps to highlight some major issues I have come across during the building stage of the rear suspension and gearbox. As they say hindsight is always 20 -20!
But I will say building this Tamiya kit has really pushed my modeling skills to a new level (patience as well!) But I better not talk to soon...we are not done ye...stay tuned!!
Anyway hope you enjoy...till next time...cheers Mark
This build is gorgeous!
your addition of detail is delightful !
Thanks you for the kind words gregoryworth84, much appreciated! cheers Mark
Really enjoying these builds and the extra detail is great advice for the next time I build this. I built it about three years ago and the two pieces that I have so much difficulty with are the two pieces of rectangular white bodywork either side of the cockpit. Once I had installed the enormous yellow chassis piece from underneath, it was either already warped or splayed open just enough that those rectangular pieces were not wide enough to connect from the monocoque to the yellow bodywork. As I am sure you will, I highly recommend a test fit☺️☺️👍👍
Hi Jackbyrne77,
Thanks for the heads up...I know what parts you are talking about. Haven't tested those yet...I'm scared too at this stage!!! Just finished painting the side pontoons. Had a very strange paint reaction that I have never encountered before...hope to show some stills for the next video regarding the issue. This build just keeps giving!!! LOL
Anyway thank again...cheers Mark
I just finished tyrrel p 034 the 6 wheeler and had that same problem twisted the same way as well.
Mark, I think we have to put the challenges of this kit assembly experience down to 'character building'. Interesting that you had problems with the vertical alignment of the rear wing support. The vertical orientation went fine for me but the horizontal alignment was out, as in the leading edge of the wing not being parallel with the rear axle. I'm looking forward to how you deal with the throttle cable. Cheers, Dave.
Hi David,
Yes "character building" is a good way to look at it I guess. Some models have you beat...not beat on this yet but its close!! LOL Anyway have a bit of piano wire I plan to use for the throttle cable...but as I mentioned in the video want to get the skirts and under carriage in place first. Anyway trust your new build is going well....keep me up to date with that...talk soon...cheers Mark
ive just stumbled upon this channel, how is the build going?
i hope it hasn't beaten you.
Hi Raven9057...not much progress as you can see...very busy time for me right now...hope to get a final build video up after Christmas if possible....cheers Mark
I just bought this kit. Now i'm wondering if i made a mistake! It seems this kit was poorly designed by Tamiya. My modelling skills are not very advanced and I'm wondering if I will be able to actually put this thing together and enjoy it. I'm hoping if I follow alone with your vids I can avoid some issues and enjoy this model.
hello garysalyers7611...yes its not my favorite Tamiya kit for sure. Hope to post the final assembly video some time soon but have been flat out with work and life right now...but good luck with it...always worth it in the end :) cheers Mark
Not easy the box/engine assembly, otherwise superb work.
Thanks xxavier5369 I need all the compliments I can get on this one!!! LOL cheers Mark
You need to remember that it’s a plastic model not a precise metal metal one and all of these problems add to the enjoyment of it I’m bipolar among other things. Totally enjoy the head f…..d up . That it does too me..
Hi seanwatts8742,
Thanks for your comments...but yes its funny you say that as I constantly have to remind myself that it not a machine!:) I work on motorbikes so its hard to lose that thinking. Anyway might sound more frustrated on the video than I really am about the build. Its more a love/hate relationship with this one! cheers Mark
