Looks like ChatGPT is ready to be a search engine.

On Monday OpenAI is expected to announce a competitor to search. I thought I'd test out how ChatGPT Plus (GPT-4) was doing as a search engine. It's not hard to see the value here.

More competition is always better for everyone. However I prefer to choose freely among several results and not a result imposed by a system. I see freedom in having the ability to compare and choose. But that is just me.
