Hi Martin I started doing lawnmowers December when my mower wouldn't start but as a youngster I tinkled with my bike engines so watched your videos how to fix mine and did then my mother in-laws mower broke so I fixed hers, so I thought I could do that so bought a couple of old ones fixed them ready to sell, so I put the word around I wanted some broken as unwanted Mowers and now I'm servicing Mowers, strimers, rotavators, pressure washers, and other types of small engines, also restored rotavators, and yes f you look in the right places you will find spares mowers , band now going to Mexico for a holiday next year after watching your videos thank you and the family keep the videos coming
Yep, agree with you, if you look hard you will find them! Have 5 in my garage all were bought none runners now all sorted and 3 of which are now sold this evening! Total profit from just 3 £65!! Luvly jubly!!!!
retrorestore oh yes I had a industrial hayterette that had been sitting in a barn for 30 years I cleaned out the carb and then the point's flashed the rust out of the tank and away she went
Nice to see Dr Gary in Action. I run my mower on synthetic oil as i mow real fast.I pulled 120 mph on bank holiday monday down the A14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where I live in the high Desert of Arizona just a hundred miles from Las Vegas we really don't see grass but, I can tell you when I lived in Idaho I had so many lawnmowers I didn't have room for them all ! If you stick with one kind of mower type of carburetor makes it easy to stock parts. Its up to you if you don't mind working on different mowers then there are even more out there for you ! Its all up to if you want to watch the tv or play out in the shop .shed or garage fixing a couple of mowers !
Yet another very useful vid Martin with some valuable information on a possible part time business renovating mowers to make a few quid. Thanks Malcolm
Fantastic blog Martin, thanks to Your vids iv fixed my laser by mountfeild Briggs and Stratton mower I have not ever fixed any thing petrol before so great easy to follow vids Martin keep up the great work love all you're blogs take buddy..oh am starting to repair them for extra coin all thanks to you're vids so again thanks
I gave up doing these, except for occasionally finding some free ones that I can turn over quickly. I used to advertized on Craig's List here in the US to pick up unwanted motorized equipment. A number of times I came home with my truck loaded. My last bunch was three that I got for free last Fall. They sat out in the snow all winter and I cleaned them up this Spring. I sold 2 and am giving the 3rd one to my son... An extra $80 helped to pay for the nice guitar that I just bought today. Good one, Martin & Gary.
Simple fix and back in business. Great Instructional video Martin. Even the ones that cant come back to life are good for spare parts and decks. I just cut the lawn today, first of the season. Electric mower and no worries.
Dad and Son best thing ever love it. Gary you done so well, you done the whole fix like a pro-well-done m8. Dad well done gary becoming a pro now it brillaint news . So nice to work with dad and son good felling family . Hope sharon ok . xxxxxx john uk london i like it when gary sit down like it nothink fixed (( next )) lol ......
To right Martin . But not good for cutting paper and the like . And the the clown teachers back in the day , trying to write stuff , utter mare most well where bitches no idea. Rant over lol.
Another great lawmower video as always. You're becoming the Briggs & Stratton guru. This is the way to make money. Solve a problem and others will ask you to solve the same problem for them too.
Hi Martin. Thanks to you my garage has now become a storage unit for mowers!!! lol. I was talking to a local mower repair guy who has been doing it for over 10 years and he uses a company called Garden Hire Spares. www.gardenhirespares.co.uk/ They do allow people to have an account with them which is a different website to the general public one. Hope this helps you with find a good parts supplier. He hasn't had any issue at all with them.
Easy aren't they. Does the garage at Kirkstead sell proper petrol. Made a big difference to the Briggs. Also tried a bit today in my Yanmar (Honda badged) genny. First time started for 2 years, runs best it ever has. Use such small amounts the extra cost is negligible.
The one Woodhall side of the bridge has changed hands and the one over the bridge is up for sale. I have a couple of genny's, must run them soon Malc, thanks for reminding me.
Need running occasionally eh Martin. Diesels don't seem to mind sitting for 20 years. It all comes out the same spout at the docks, but Ethanol ect are added afterwards for supermarkets. Btw, do you want this Suffolk Colt to have a play. Sharpened the cylinder and blade....coils gone damp but otherwise ran a treat. Can then show some nice stripes on your lawn after cutting with yours :)
Another great video Martin. So there’s no such thing as “lawnmower oil” ? I use an electric chainsaw for cutting up wood for the wood burning stove. Does that mean I’ve been buying “chainsaw oil” from Screwfix when I could be using the motor oil I already have in the shed?
Ordinary engine oil ok for electric chainsaw. For bigger/ petrol saws with higher chain speed ordinary oil can get flung off. A 'Chain oil' is sticky and stays on the chain at higher speeds so chain will last longer and cut slightly better. After starting your saw point the bar at a light coloured board and rev the engine. You should see a little oil spray onto the board.
Know what you mean I bought one now can't get in my garage even putting them else where as have so many lol they come thick and fast once you get going
The carbs as you say it don’t just need a diaphragm and gasket, they need the insides cleaned, eg the main jet and other jets, I’m 13 and we own a family lawnmower buisness in Northern Ireland. Invest in a ultrasonic machine
Oh wow where did you manage to get those Tecumseh bowl seals from? I've searched high and low and ended up at the local lawnmower shop and paid £7 for just one!
Afternoon Mart If you love your lawn mowers and running it on different things as in fuel, do you follow the American chap his RUclips channel is called ( project farm) very interesting and enjoyable Cheers Phil
if they were all easy, everyone would be doing this. i have had my hat handed to me a few times by a "free" lawnmower,if i cant fix it in a timely matter it becomes parts
nice bank holiday vid mart.please abide by youtube rules next time and give a disclaimer for the faint hearted (and those just eaten sunday roast ) next time you get your scotch eggs out .:))))

Nice video, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Where do you get your diaphragm washers from, what should I avoid?
I'm still searching bud.
Seeing them legs just reminded me to put the milk bottles out, great video, regards Stu 😂😂
Haha, I knew that was coming somewhere in these comments lol

retrorestore I sell a mower then I find one for free the same night, hope my luck keeps up
Nice one, well done.

Thanks Malc but I'm over run with mowers, gotta shift some I think lol
And there’s your dinner!
Put some silicone oil on those primers, will help stop the rubber drying out.

Haha, I'm no expert but I don't think there's a special grading for a chainsaw blade. its all slippery lol
Ordinary engine oil ok for electric chainsaw.

I already have one bud. You rarely get a problem with the main jets on these carbs, nothing a tin of carb cleaner and an air line won't sort out.
retrorestore ok
Someone locally restores and sells lawnmowers. Will that effect me doing it? I’d love to do this
No, not at all I have around 8 people in a 4 mile radius selling and repairing mowers and we have no problem selling them.
retrorestore thanks.
Im just waiting for synth to come back from repair then its up for sale?
4:24 well you have half of a wire brush 😃
Haha, its seen some action that one lol
Good video you two, bit more sun on them legs😂

what carb kits do you buy
Still finding out a decent supplier Tim
Oh wow where did you manage to get those Tecumseh bowl seals from? I've searched high and low and ended up at the local lawnmower shop and paid £7 for just one!
I can't remember, hard to get though as you well know.
I use Meadowbrook Enterprises - they're on e-Bay and seem to have a pretty good range of Tecumseh stuff.

Yes Phil, i'm a subscriber. He runs them on many different things. Bullet proof these are.
The reason fuel parts fail is because of the fuel. Thats why I always service and repair my customers machines with Aspen Alkalyte fuel.
WHERE DO YOU BUY BRIGGS CARB DIAGRAMS ,,I BOUGHT 20 ON EBAY AND THEY WENT SOFT & CURLED UP ?
THANKS ED
Yes Ed, I've been there too. Just trying to find a decent supplier myself.
