Started playing this game recently, haven't touched the shipbuilder yet. Didn't realize the shipbuilding is SO incredibly in-depth im gonna be a fully fledged engineer/programmer if I were to ever master it
Great stuff. Thanks! Some things that could speed up construction: 1. Hold down shift while moving an asset to duplicate it. This can save you time rotating as you'll know the initial rotation. 2. Use the "Spaceship Modules/Spaceship Modules Starter Kit" for both box thrusters and fuel tanks. With modules you can drop in the completed box thruster or fuel tank instead of having to snap together all its pieces. You also get a handy green circle to move around the entire module with all its pieces intact, so you don't have to box select off to the side.
Occasionally in the ship builder editor I get seemingly mysterious gaps between beam ends. Any idea what causes this and/or how to fix/prevent it? Thanks for your videos, you explain things very well!
Nice vid, i'm curious to know what method you use for duplicating because i only know one way of doing it. I make my selection and then i hold shift while click and dragging on a movement arrow. You seem to be popping copies of objects from thin air lol. How are you doing it ?
Copy pasting drove me nuts. You can shift click and drag and it'll drag a copy on the axis, no dealing with that dumb magnetic clipping. But yes, great speed, very clean, nice voice and well explained. Great job.
Tried to build a pretty much identical version of your ship today. I got pretty far but I'm having issues with the cables/pipes. Hooked everything up, the thrusters, boosters, flight chair, panel/lever, heatsink, generator, battery pack, fuel tank, FCU and main flight computer. Not the most visually appealing cable management but they are all linked together. i have double checked with the visualisation tools if there are any disconnected bits in the cabling/piping but cant find any. I don't hear the gen starting up like in your vid and in test mode nothing happens. What could possibly be the problem?
Hmm, not sure. I would double check that buttons are bolted down as that was an issue for me a few times, other than that it is hard to diagnose without seeing it. I would highlight the entire ship and try auto-bolting to be sure. Sorry I cant be of more help, let me know if you find the issue!
Had been trying to build a ship since the release of Starbase, had the same issue) but today I finally have found the answer - in the top menu find thrusters and switch thruster naming from manual to automatic. U also can check out a vid from the same author, second episode of his ship building series about thrusters - it goes into more details.

Finally able to start building a ship thanks to this tutorial!
I find it really enjoyable to watch. Somehow it's better than any tutorial for me.
Thanks for the VID ;)
I'm going back to fix my small first ship ;)
Best regards,
ROBOT

Great tips!
Finally a RUclipsr with great background music 👍 Keep up the great tutorials!

You can copy and paste any selected items by pressing CTRL + C to copy and then CTRL + V to paste, that's how I am duplicating my items!

Can strat rounds cut fuel and power lines?
