    The MG4 Xpower loves the twisty stuff once you know how to drive it, late trail brake and the front just digs, then rotates like crazy. Yes it could use more rebound damping on the rear, and needs lowered springs. Otherwise it is just a very enjoyable daily putt about, smooth quiet effortless power everywhere. Don't bother driving my ICE vehicles these days.

      I don't know why car reviewers rave about the other MG4's handling, then boo the Xpower's handling. Around my local streets it is sensational. That's coming from an STI owner, soon to be former STI owner.

    There is a lot to like if you were in the family car market.
    If I was young and was looking for a daily car, I would be happy with one of these.

    MG4 is incredible value for the acceleration you get though I don't like the interior. From what I have read it Wil get a major interior upgrade before years end.

    Hey mate, engage the time mode for the BYD. It does take off harder and you can see it even uses more KWs. You can feel ive only dont it three times but thats what you want if you are testing the top acceleration .

    I'm concerned about comfort. So many cars are so firm these days yet these cars spend 99 percent of their time doing day to day life on our shit roads. I wish modern manufacturers had options to buy their highest powered vehicles with a more comfort/every day usability state of suspension tune.. Enjoyed the vid Brett.

      I have the Seal Performance and I can say that comfort in this is great. It's worth mentioning that the Seal is set up as a touring car, not a race/sports car! That way focus is more on the comfort side while still being blisteringly fast and capable. It's mentioned in the video that the speed tops out at around 190-195km/h. The car is built for a top speed of 180km/h which makes this car much cheaper to manufacture as they don't have to have race spec suspension, brakes and tyres.

    • @vasil7410

      The Seal Performance does have a comfortable ride. It's not like Mercedes or BMW performance cars, where they have sacrificed comfort for better handling.

    I wanted to own a BYD purely because of its advanced battery technology. We needed a AWD cause we live in the Dandenong Ranges. I had no choice when comparing so we bought the Xpower MG .. Absolutely no regrets.. until you've owned an EV you will never now how great it feels to drive one.. Fast and Furious if you need it to be.. The lane departure assist is a little inconsistent but otherwise Love the Xpower! Ice v Ev Ev my a country mile!

    I'd still go with the BYD, it has way better fit and finish, and better materials.
    The interior of the Seal is much nicer than the MG as well.

    You probably looked up the prices a while ago, but BYD Seal Performance is a little cheaper now.
    It is now $65,748 before on-road costs. Still more than the MG4 X-Power but a still a $3000 savings compared to its old price.

    I really think we need to start talking about license classes for vehicles over a certain power-to-weight ratio, similar to the way we do this (at least in NSW) for P platers or the LAMS system for bikes.
    The fact people who have never owned a fast car in their lives can go out and buy a 60k car with these kinds of acceleration levels is going to become a problem. EVs will only get faster as battery and motor technologies improve.
    When I first started riding sports bikes someone said to me "You'll get to 100 5 times faster, but take just as long to stop". This is now starting to apply to cars as well.

    • @drivingenthusiastaustralia
      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  2 месяца назад +2

      @@mannbat Totally agree. I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. At least with an exotic supercar, it’s not as accessible to a wide range of consumers; there are going to be fewer on the roads. Doesn’t make them safer but lower concentration is the next best thing. These, any general customer can just walk into a showroom and if the salesperson is good they will upsell to the ‘top-of-the-range’ model, which so happens to be a 12-second car. Things could get out of hand.

    Must admit…the seal performance is pretty darn good. Not sure ide own a Chinese car yet, but I also don’t think you can knock them for much today. But must admit…car car is just as fast with 1/4 a tank as it is with with 3/4. Other than only a few km range left, does charge really affect them that much ?

  • @sal6109
    @sal6109 2 месяца назад

    A Full tank compared to just under 1/4 tank of fuel in an BF XR6 turbo can mean 1 1/2 to tenths to 2 tenths quicker to 100 kms/hr and also in the 1/4 mile. So it does make a bit of a difference! 😃

    • @drivingenthusiastaustralia
      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  2 месяца назад +2

      A BF Falcon XR6T has a 68L tank, so a quarter of that is 17L, which equates to around 12.7kg. Compared with a full tank which is about 50kg, that's only a 37.3kg difference. A gust of wind could influence a 0-100 result just as much as 37kg in my opinion.
      But yes, I get what you mean. However, here the difference was 78% vs 83%. The equivalent in fuel would make no difference to 0-100.

    • @sal6109
      @sal6109 2 месяца назад +1

      @@drivingenthusiastaustralia Yes well a friend of mine and I worked out with our BF and FG automatic xr6 and xr6 turbos that for a car that can run around 6 to 7 seconds to 100kms/hr, an added extra passenger of average weight of around 80 kgs means (4.38 percent weight increase of the car because of the extra passenger) which means at least 3 tenths slower for the 0 to 100 and subsequently also for the quarter mile time.
      However as the car gets quicker in its 0 to 100 time, that 4.38 percent weight increase of the extra passenger (at now 1908 kgs) will actually translate to a smaller recorded time difference in proportion to what time to 100 it actually records.
      For Example: A 5 second to 100 car would gain 2.2 tenths to its 100 time whereas the same weight car falcon with an original 7 second time would gain about 3.1 tenths to its total 0 to 100 time making it 7.31 seconds.
      But as we now are experiencing, cars are getting heavier and especially when over 2000 kgs unladen, and with even more linear torque such as in newer electric vehicles with all wheel drive,
      that time difference to 100 gets incrementally smaller.
      Now with all other variables being equal, this is especially true with horsepower increasing quite a lot in the same model cars these days,
      and, and also because it’s the horsepower that always determines the same terminal 1/4 mile speed even when wheels furiously spin more between one run and another.
      Cheers, 😃

    I have driven both cars.... Really not comparable and the price difference is justified. If you are happy with basic and cheaper materials, then the MG might be for you. If you want something more refined and mature, then the BYD is a clear winner. Both are stupid fast regardless.

    • @JeffGoris
      @JeffGoris 12 дней назад +1

      The price difference is absolutely justified. If you are happy with a 4.8m saloon with heaps of interior room for 4 or 5 passengers, but a tiny boot get the BYD. If you want a small, sub 4.3m practical hatchback that you typically won't be driving around more than 2 people at at time, get the MG. They are quite different cars. Buying one based on refinement alone seems immature. Sadly, there are few hatchback options these days. People seem to want to buy bigger and bigger cars.

    I'm not sure that either handle well enough for my liking, and the MG instrumentation looks like a kids toy car - why are their screens so small?? Everytime I'd drive it I'd feel like I was in a car that cost $20k less, just because of the poxy screens, especially the driver's. I'd get a WRX for around the same money as an MG4. But the power these two produce - under 4secs to 100. I'd love that.
