  • A half hour(ish) multiplayer sortie in DCS: World and the P-51D with live commentary including some vague tutorials on start-up, taxiing & takeoff, landing, engine management, dogfighting and manoeuvring.
    Apologies if the commentary audio is a little drowned out at times - getting the balance right is a trial & error procedure and apparently I'm still in the error cycle! Also somewhat stuttery in places - think my CPU is struggling with running a bustling DCS environment & Shadowplay simultaneously...
    Feedback welcome - I don't profess to be a master at this aircraft yet, just showing how I manage to get back to base in (mostly) one piece more often than not.

    I found this really useful. I realise it’s old, and I have some experience in the ‘Stang but it would good to confirm the hints such as 220mph for climb. I was told to climb at 180 but this seemed slow, as that’s the preferred climb speed for the spit. It also meant I had to manually manage radiators as it would overheat. By trial and error I came to 220 mph, nice to see it’s not just me! The voice is really hard to hear in many places but I’m sure that’s been mentioned before.

    Hi, I’m new to the sim and enjoyed your video! Have you done a video on your hotas settings?

    That crappy AI is why I left DCS for a few years and just recently jumped back in. I recall setting up 3 Mustang Vet wingmen, myself unlim ammo against one 109 at easiest level. The 109 would kill all ai within minutes. All of his shot were the "golden bbs" always hitting my critical systems. I would hold the trigger so long my hand would hurt after pumping hundreds of rounds into his smoking plane. Just got old not to mention all that turning destroys a high$$ TM warthog stick

      +racingtheweb Yes, apologies did mention in the description I'm having issues getting sound balanced properly. I may add some annotations when I get the chance if that would help?

      Google auto generated captions work well enough.

    Thank you very much for such a helpful, concise and complete tutorial. While I really enjoyed this one, in future, could you turn down the engine noise about 50%? It was difficult to hear you at times and while it’s great to have the aircraft sound, it was a bit overwhelming, but please don’t entirely eliminate the sound, as it does serve a helpful purpose in lending authenticity and covering minor background noise on your end. I watched one F-18 video for all of 20 seconds because the guy kept smacking his lips, very annoying! Great job and thank you.

    You turn your ignition on before combustion? That's ballsy. Part of the reason why you count six blades is to ensure that oil circulates through the engine..

    • @welshpete12
      @welshpete12 6 лет назад

      That's a radial engine , NOT an inline engine !

      Yeah, you still need to cycle the oil before combustion, no matter what you say. DCS overlooked this. A2A, who has had extensive flying and inspection time on actual P-51s, did not. Also, I was an AD in the Navy. I lived, breathed, and bled for aviation. Don't try it.
