- First time fighting this boss, so my strategy was a bit strange. I didn't know how long the fight would last, so I used basic attacks often to conserve SP.
I had Ann relearn Tarunda instead of Matarunda, as it saves a lot of SP, and there is only one enemy. Merciless Difficulty.

I killed him in the coolest way possible. I used Haru to put a physical wall on MC, and he killed himself!
I did that so many times but the finishing blow was ryuji
Yusuke's High Counter proc'd and killed him right before i was about to heal everyone and make a nice clean finish.

yusuke reflected one of his high powered punch..making him last hit..deep inside i was laughing so hard

I watched him charge up with desperation and kill himself on Yusuke's high counter... It was glorious!

Hamaon/Mudoon on the MC is one of the most rage-inducing things that have ever encountered in a video game, because I didn't have many Personas that nullified insta-death attacks.
Ohhh God, memories of Anubis are coming bad...
Oh for sure, I know the pain of having to redo parts of a dungeon because of that unlucky Mudoon/Hamaon, doesn't feel too good. As for Anubis though, I just kept Sleeping him and whipping his ass with Technicals. Sleep is over powered in P5.
I still have Vietnam flashbacks of Anubis...
The Beast of Human Sacrifice used Wage War on 3 of my teammates. It was horrible.

He probably would've been one shotted if the social link wasn't as high as it was. Plus that attack power was also reduced by Tarunda yet it still was fatal. Merciless Shido is insane
To be fair Mona gets fucked up by everything. He became my bench warming healer by the end

I still chuckle at the fact that I killed this guy takeing advantage of Arahabaki's phisical reflect, I used it to keep myself on the defensive most of the fight as I had the party through the heavy attacks and when I was down to his last bit of HP he was stupid enough to use his hardest hitting singel target phisical attack on me XD It was glorious seeing him just destroy himself
How can he maintain Kaioken that long?

This battle took me 3 tries and this is merciless DIFFICULTY???? Anyway I had full health and Tyrant's Glare would either kill me or my teammates in one shot, I had to start Guarding, though Hard to figure out at what point of his health he starts doing it. I just used normal magic attacks and healing, and occasionally guarded with some letting SP fill again.
KpopAnime7392 I honestly had more trouble with the first form, the one where he is flying on that sphinx thing, because he would exploit everyone's weakness and just wipe us out. I prefer this fight cause when he uses elemental attacks he uses them in a specific order, so you can guard to them. Tyrant's Glare was a pain to deal with as well :/
First form didn't give me a problem, probably because I used Ann to lower attack continuously because when he was resistant to magic, she was the only one who didn't have a physical move, thank god I had a mixture of Makoto and 20 Donut Worry's for when he inflicted Fear. This battle though, Im like "When did this become Square Enix?" because they're KNOWN for having multiple battles after each other
KpopAnime7392 Atkus tends to go with multiple stage fights as well, did you see Persona 3's final boss?
I'm so glad that other peeps caught on to Tarunda being better than Matarunda in this game; there's literally no reason for Ann to run it (even more so for me since I exclusively used her for like three dungeons the entire game).

Shido definitely skipped leg day.
I remember my strategy when it was my first playthrough on normal mode I put on an accessory on Joker that has a medium chance of evading physical attacks on my 10th attempt I decided to use a spotlight on joker so he would be more likely to be attacked by the boss and it worked because when shido was about to attack Joker with a physical attack joker would block the attack and deflect the attack back at him which caused a decent amount of damage on shido.
Fighting him about 5 times, always die at his Tyrant's Glare. Have to play extremely defensive on his 2nd form
And of course my biggest mistake in the game is having Ann overwriting Tarunda with Maturanda, fucked me up real bad.
Yeah Matarunda really isn't worth it. I never use Kaja/Nda skills outside of boss fights, so I had her relearn Tarunda, I had no need for a multi target nda.
If you have a Soma and other SP recovery options, why not use Trumpeter amd Debilitate?

haha yea debilitate is awesome, sadly I play merciless on first playthough blind (well except to get all arcana link in one go) so I don't know which persona has it so I'm just toughing out, it was fun though.
It seems you were pretty underleved compared to me, but you still did very well!

Tyrant Wave really can hurt sometimes. When you cast an opposite stat modifier does it cancel out the existing one? For example if you cast Attack up on yourself and then Shido casts attack down on you does the attack down override the attack up completely or just sets everything to base level?

Sorry for the late reply, but yes if has Tarukaja applied, then a Tarunda will set his attack back to its normal state. Same goes for if you apply Tarunda to him, then he applies Tarukaja, they cancle each other out.

I think you should be fine as levels go. Might want to spend some time fusing a Persona that doesn't have a weakness, or just send them to Lockdown/Isolation to remove the weakness, as he has a high chance to exploit your weakness during the first battle.

It's not his middle name, if I remember correctly every bosses have a "demon" middle name referring to their sin
