That button displays the center of the current measurement. Cool Feature!
I own this, my girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas - when we work on a project, she normally does the measuring. It works great and is very durable. I've dropped it many times , and have used it in a very dirty/dusty environment with no issues. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but def worth checking out.
I'm a license Stationary Engineer and I can say this tape measure rocks ya try it it is a wonderful tape measure 😉👍.
I like that it can give the final measurement in the back of the tape. So you dont have to go past your measuring point and have to keep bending your tape.
Funny and honest Dan, that's great. I taught one of my workers how to read the fractions on a tape. I also got him a Stanley tape with the fractions marked off, which helped him pick up reading the fractions quicker. The measurement to back of tape on this is great for inside measurements i.e. Windows, doorways...
+Kieran Lachman thanks :}
Awesome idea and features. The centerline function is a very handy function as well. better video than most.
Lmao I kinda feel like bringing one of these to the job site just to piss off my foreman
Lmao!! That sounds like a good freaking idea!!
+Erased My Giraffe lol
Looks like a big iPod shuffle lol
That's really cool I've been really liking the fastcap tape measures
I've been watching these episodes for a while. Keep it up dudes. Good videos. Entertaining
+kuwait85 Thank you!
This is a pretty cool measuring tape. My understanding is, I don't know if it's true or not. Is that the guy that made this works on ships or something like that. And he had to have quick measurements, and precise. So he invented this puppy. Regardless, I'm one of those guys that could measure five times and still get it wrong. So if this would help. I'm all in. Thanks for the review.
OR, convert to the metric system and measure everything in simple base 10 units and your problem is solved.
Yep the right way :)
SilverJK the problem is, not everyone will change and will stay old school. Metric is so easy, but imperial is what is used in the US. There would be so much confusion, arguments and wasting time trying to convert plans from imperial to metric. Example 1/2 of an inch in imperial, is equivalent to 12.7 MM🤔😧. Both numbers side by side is very confusing. It’s not that easy to change when everyone not willing to, especially when most people in the US have learned imperial. It’s a no win situation. For the US it’s easier to say cut me 3-1/2 inches than saying 88.9mm and the same goes the other way around for the people that use metric everyday

You didn't have to put me on blast like that 😒 ...
I love my Lufkin fractional readout tape. Works great and is quick and easy for measuring.
+Colton Salzsieder I like Lufkin also
I just got one and I love it
Funny video guys. I love Dan's honesty about his relationship with tape measures. Cool concept with the digital readout. #TIACREW
this would be great for me too Dan, coming from the UK i was raised on meters, centimetres and millimetres so I struggle reading the inch ones so having the option to measure in standard and metric is a big bonus! Great video to start off the week guys, be interesting to see how it holds up after a few weeks of TIA usage! Thanks guys! #TIACREW
+TheBearuk1 YW bear!
u guys r just like me. I don't read directions I learn as I go love the channel.
+Matt Dodaro Thanks Matt!
If you need more rugged one get HandyMate digital tape measure. I am suck at reading those lines as well so I was looking for something easy to the eyes sometime ago and found eTape and HandyMate ones. HandyMate has more solid built and I dropped it several times already and nothing happened, still good.
i have that problem too but I'm learning. Neat measure though
Look at Dan taking one for the team, pretending not to know how to read a tape measure just to drum up responses in the comment section!
+Fernbark Frist Comedy you had laugh
Funny, great title, great attitude and great video.
Hey that's a good digital tape measure for people who don't use a tape measure that often an for people who can't read a tape measure awesome my brother peace.....👍👍👍
Are these more accurate than a laser meter. My dewalt laser meter has 1/16 of inch accuracy
Love watching your videos! #tiacrew - neat tape measure, but I love my DeWalt, but just might add this to the workshop.
This does look cool. Dan I agree I always do "2ft and 3 lines
#TIACREW
Looks like it would be a good buy. I agree it could be more rugged.
I like this. Didn't know they had these. I can read a tape. but that tape would be faster and I can't see up close without glasses now.
Nice tape measure I've bought a few tapes for my helpers that have all the fractions on em. Amazing how many people don't know how to read a tape measure. Engineers scale is a base 10 also and it throughs people off too that know inch measures. Hahaha funny video guys y'all rock keep up the great work #TIACREW
+Tony Landin thanks
That's a cool little tape measure I like the center mark read out feature. #TIACREW
That is one cool little tape measurer! I could definitely see myself using that & Nice price!
Sweet viedo Guys!!! #TIACREW all day....
I think it's a good idea that they created the e tape measure. Because my vision goes together when I try to read those things. lol
I know a couple of my carpenter buddies that could probably need to use that
Hitting the button the first time turns the inches into feet and inches. and hitting it the second time divides the span by 2. great for calculating rafter spans, etc.
+Jake Hangman We B Dumb
i like you guys because it is who it is you saying the truth TY
thanks
How many songs does this hold? Looks like an iPod
I'm going to have to buy this ... For a friend of course. Lol
+iiloverr Ha of course...
it would be good if it had functions to save measurements and do calculations like area and add up square footage. it would make it a good tool for estimates
+imchris5000 very true
That thing is too confusing. I'm glad I learned my fractional measurements. Lol
wow this is great ....great vid guys
+Supreme Services Lawn Care Thanks!
You just lost all street cred with me admitting you can't read a tape measure
+John Roberts O well there goes my Pro status next time I should lie and bullshit you guys.
+Tools In Action www.wikihow.com/Read-a-Measuring-Tape
I wasn't blessed with carpentry skills. I just recently found out a 2x4 isn't really a 2x4...now my whole life makes sense why I never could cut or build things right lol
Great for the weekend DIYer
(Does it take a battery?).
Especially the numerically challenged.
5 out of 4 people have trouble with math
Does it read 32nds and 64ths
Not bad for $30......Not sure if I would trust it for precise measurements. I would like to hear Dan's comments on it after a couple of months of steady use.
thank you for the 10 minute tape measure video rofl :)
I use a desalt the ones with fractions it's strong and sterdy
+All MERRICA I think those have FatMax bloodlines
yes I totally agree with that
Definitely looks neat, but i'd bust that thing in a day. I'm pretty hard on my tapes. It's not uncommon for me to just toss them around with impunity. Measure a post, toss it five feet into a tractor cart until I need another measurement. Neat tool though. Thank you for uploading!
Not only that, what happens if it gets wet. No way would that last long.
+goodall1bay You are correct. I think if I were to receive this as a gift from someone I would immediately just apologize for the inevitable destruction that was going to ensue.
Looks like a great thing for the wife. But you can get a pretty great Tape for 29 bucks. Wonder if it burns through batteries even when your're not using it like the cheap calipers do. Anyway it might have a market. Nice video Dan and Eric. #TIA CREW
4:18 it was dividing it by half. Half of 2 ft and 3 1/8 is 1 ft and 1 9/16
+jessejames! Smart!
Please do a full honest review of the Power8 Workshop kit!
+John Pish Can you even get them in the USA?
+Tools In Action it is currently available on Amazon! :)
Tools In Action it was yesterday :((
the page is still there but currently unavailable
+Tools In Action it is now available again!
I mean I wouldn't buy it mostly cause I feel like it would make measuring height difficult. Cause usually I can do it from standing on the floor. This I would need a stool or a ladder to get the tape measure to touch the ceiling. So honestly I feel like it would be more useful for like project guys and cabinet makers and not contractors like me to use on a job site.
awesome i like that. i m getting one those lol
That's a pretty cool tape measure, but if you want something fancy but cheaper dewalts the measure has fractional number readout on it, plus it has the style of a fat max. Pretty cool find though Dan! #TIACREW
"That's what TIA is, we're just like you guys!" ... except I can read a tape.
It just occurred to me, if you want a digital measure, then get a Bosch laser measure.Right! at least it has no moving parts in it to break, it's water resistant..
You guys could add a ton of value to your short videos by having a ceiling mounted camera pointed down at the tool on the table while you guys are talking about it. Even for those of us that love the banter there’s no visual value in watching you talk about something we clicked on here to see.
👍
Interesting.
I wouldn't dare be caught with that thing.
im one of those guys who dont really know how to measure. this would be perfect. but im shopping around n looking at others just to see whats out.
i can read a tape measure its the Decimals that is kinda hard
The Milwaukee tape you can get at Home Depot is way better than the fat max.
Milwaukee tape sucks..it's not durable at all. My co worker went through 2 in less than 6 months.
how do you know if it's accurate if you cant read the marks lol!
+Jeremiah Johnson lol right!
People might as well just learn to read a regular tape. This thing honestly looks harder to use and probally isn't as accurate as a standard tape. And it would never last in a factory or a construction job.
Mine failed on LCD in just a month and the brand company "eTape16" nor the vendor gave me any support. Bad experience to me.
what is 13.684 inches
great, now my wife can call me out on my measurement...
Goat
+Josh H ha
Is that the Metabo heated jacket? If so can we get a review?
+Scott Reid Yes coming soon
At 1:24 it's 16 FEET not "16 inches" .........you are right, you said that you cannot read a tape.
you should take it apart
Does it play music?
+Unam469 maybe we can send it to AvE and he can make it play star wars
It is good that you have Chevy Chase as your partner and camera man.....does he fall?
There's a running joke on the forum about these but...Dan, have you tried a Lufkin? Some of their tape measures have the fractional numbers on the tape: www.amazon.com/Lufkin-L625SCTMP-1-Inch-25-Feet-Centering/dp/B001737NYU
I imagine it's significantly more durable.
+BMack37 Hey thanks for the info. I didnt know these existed either. Appreciate it.
Rob Lambert
no problem, check out the forum people share all types of cool tools, accessories and deals on those items all the time. It's a great group of guys!
+BMack37 Yes, my favs are komeleon I think thats how you spell them
Toning better than a product review where you know next to nothing about the product.
Why wouldn't you just get a tape measure with the fractions written on it
that button shows the half mark
well some bg company will do the same thing bluetooth so you have to use the phone and sell it for 100us
+CapApollo wow it allready exists.
Oh yeah going to get it thanks #Tiacrew
Lol Dan I suck when it comes to measuring to :} this is a cool idea for sure, love the Amazon buy days! T.I.A#1!!!! #TIACREW
+Mike Z Thanks Man!!
That's why it's better to just go with metric. It's accurate.. Easy to remember, easy to apply it . Metric metric metric ...
Nice tape measure very cool tech. Great little find. What a great ideal for someone who doesn't know how to measure. Thanks TIA for sharing. #tiacrew
hey I need one lol everybody are not all the same.. but I like dat
it tells you the center of you measurements! so you want have todo the math!
Go metric! If you can count to 10, then you can go metric! It's the way to go!
+PrimeMechCo true
Maybe you should read the instructions first? One and 9/16ths is one sixteenth over One and a half. 3/8ths is one eight over 1/4. 11/16ths = 1/16th over 5/8ths. Otherwise this was a great video. Very funny.
Oh man. More cool Chinese junk that nobody really needs. If it goes down to 20 bucks, I'll get it.
each line is a millimeter. Switch to metric.
+Aleksandar Kospenda I dont even know feet but I could tell that button changed from radius to diameter.
Not for me, but there are some out there that could benefit. Sounds like dan uses cheater tapes. #TIACREW
the zero function is made to find center of something. cool gadget
Great tape measure WHEN IT WORKS! Battery dies SO SO SO SO fast that it’s ridiculous. Don’t waste your money
Ha ha ha! Lol
hey guys I want to no how dues a blind man use a tape measure
+Richard Garner The force
HA HA HA ;)Funny stuff guys!
+Chris K thanks Chris
cool product guys #TIACREW
7:29 if you order it within 2 hours you can have it by March 4th... Not really looking to wait almost a full year for shipping... Hahaha check out my channel I don't have any vids so can't make fun of my 1 or 2 videos HA Ha Ha...
Don"t want to hurt your feelings but if your doing a "Tutorial " you should know the product.
